  • I can feel my heart is falling apart..

  • <3

  • ABSOLUTELY LOVELY

  • This band have clearly never listened to a Smiths track.

    Er......

  • This is a classic.

  • love then camera work, stretchy like elastic

  • Guys voice sounds a bit like roddy womble or whatever his name is from idlewild.

  • such a poser video.

  • this is so 80s

  • the smiths?

  • The bass is fucking amazing, Luv it

  • @imissthe80s100 you mean the bass is joy division

  • the fucking management of this band totally suck. they should already be huge, but where are they on the TV festivals? knowhere. very poor.

  • @imissthe80s100 i thought he looked more like peewee herman

  • The light pours out of me.

  • @XellKamikaze i was thinking this! this band clearly like magazine a bit much.

  • @returnofdanbrown08 too much?

  • @imissthe80s100 that's so true!

  • Comment removed

  • exellent

  • At times sounds like the Smiths

  • A great nod to Magazine's video for The Light Pours Out Of Me, whilst the song itself is more reminiscent of John McGeogh's favourite Mags track You Never Knew Me, albeit slightly racier. People who dismiss them as Smiths soundalikes have little wider knowledge of the broad landscape upon which these guys operate. Yet another magnificent track from the best UK debut LP in decades.

  • If I were the bass player Id be a bit pissed off if the guitarist was constantly in front of me :P

  • @SongAndDanceMan1 Shows integrity.....about music,not clothes!

  • my band Jailbox just got to play with these guys last night and they were phenomenal!

  • Gene: Speak To Me Someone!?

  • Un pò INTERPOL-iani e un pò SHOEGAZE-iani. Il cantante è un lombrico. Esordio con il botto! (Ho rovinato per sempre youtube con questi commenti)

  • can't wait to see them live in Positivus 2011

  • great song!!!!! i hear alot of ian mcculloch & some morrissey syle lyrics....

the band sounds strong and fully developed like kitchens of distinction......

looking forward 2 see them live in l.a.

however this video should have been more mysterious.......

  • One of those rare amazing songs from the first time you hear it. And yeah- I love Morrissey.

  • wow, someone did lots of shopping at topman and the shitty light shop .

  • @mooyamooya1

    They're trying to look 80's, I think.

  • omg...this song is superb.... i miss their show in dublin,... come back again,..... this song is totally hit...

  • Oh hey Morrisey

  • The Smiths.

  • brother are playing the publicity game very well biging them selves up . but tbh there tunes are catching , even if the lead guy looks like a hobbit

  • song of 2010 , well next too french Re'gime

  • The singer wants to be Howard Devoto.

  • music reminds me of: kitchens of distinction. i like it.

  • this sounds soooo much like the smiths its literally unbelievable

  • The lead singer reminds me of the lead singer from the drums... if he had styled blonde hair of course.

  • Cколько соплей, ужас!

  • this sounds a lot like... chapel club!!!

  • its like the early 2000s all over again, british independent music has gone stale.

  • @returnofdanbrown08 this is certainly not the early 'noughties' with likes of the strokes and the libs its much more late 70's to mid 80's orginal indie. such as echo and the bunnymen, the smiths and joy division. but yes since the early 2000's it has been stale but ive seen some real new talent for 2011 such as these guys BROTHER and The Phinetics

  • @aaron24mod Brother??? are you fucking kidding me, they are the biggest joke in music

  • in love with these guys <3

  • Seriously, that's Stewie Griffin!

  • Is that Stewie?

  • great song!

  • This video reminds me of Magazine's "The Light Pours Out Of Me" video.

    Cool though

  • I know, it's a good thing - I like the song, I like the smiths and I like joy division :) Just making a not so internal observation! Probably shouldn't have put the "but..."

  • I really like this, but it sounds like a direct cross between a smiths song and a joy division bassline.

  • @catheringo Which is no bad thing!

    Nice track.

Really know what you mean with the Joy Division there though!

  • @catheringo so?

  • @catheringo - That's a good thing! (:

  • Like a Magazine Video.

  • @KxK96 no it will be realeased 31 jan

  • @MrBackInCrack that's AGES away!

  • is the album already released ? lol

  • Did not realise these guys were from this millenium...

  • the singer hates niggers.

  • @TheMegaGaylord huh?

  • dull smiths rip off.....

  • @crocodile200 that comment was ridiculous.

  • great song. i think they sounded more like gene.

  • Sounds a lot like the Smiths (I know, nobody else has spotted that, cough). However, this comparison implies that they are mind-numbingly dull and take pop music far too seriously. Which they do. Give me Wavves any day.

  • THE SMITHS INFLUENCE!

  • what a brilliant brilliant band. I've seen them playing live 3 times now and they are just quality! Love them!!!!

  • these are a mug off of the cure - disintegration

  • @tonyclarke1 wow fuck yeah, youre right. you can practically sing these words along with it

  • @tonyclarke1 cool. get over it.

  • The colour of this music is beige.

  • @Acquiescence

    your opinion is shit coloured

  • or canvas

  • @Acquiescence No that's your gusset.

  • @Acquiescence ...huh?!...i hope that's a meta-joke referencing some tv show or some shit and NOT some sophomoric, dumb, student's idea of interpreting music, like you learn in some stupid english class...

  • problem with this lot - is that they are a total hotch-potch of other bands with no defining characteristics of their own.

  • That is just beautiful

    x

  • nice guitar work, brings memories.

    Happy feeling

  • Their is a whiff of the smiths/morrissey but in a good way

  • This somewhat reminds me of The Smiths only because that one guitarist has that Morrissey/Rourke 80's hair.

  • best band in my life ! best song also !

the bassit looks like morrisey !

    i love this band !

  • Is that Stephen Merchant on guitar!?

  • @supermanJOEL2 Like a Steve Merchant who isnt a lanky google eyed freak.

  • @supermanJOEL2 ...and is that Stephen Morrissey on bass?

  • @supermanJOEL2 ha ha i was just thinking the same then i saw your comment!!!

  • Did polo-necks become cool again??? I didn't get the memo...

  • not quite sure where people get smiths/morrisey out of this ... horrors for pre-teens along with tributes to original 90's shoegazer bands or dookie Keane, maybe ... but smiths/morrisey (the writing here doesn't even pale) ... one thing, however, the bassist, from hair to striped shirt etc. is definitely of the cover for Hatfull of Hollow ... but that be it

  • You cant beat a bit of tremolo.

  • ahhh fucking love this band.,

  • i wish he didnt sound like morrissey, meh!

  • @samjones0528 I'm glad he does, although he sounds more like Kevin Shields on some of the other tracks tho.

  • more gene than smiths - brilliant nonetheless

  • sounds like Gene but the singer looks like a tadpole.

  • i see the smiths and joy division in this group ! which is epic !!

  • Mr.Bean & the Smiths

  • what are u smiths

  • This is better than most of the shit in the charts right now so let's all stop moaning about them sounding like The Smiths.

  • ah crap. i'll write again :p

got right to the front at underage!!... partly because everyone was leaving but whyy?!?!! D: ah well they rule. also saw nick grimshaw sitting backstage - he knowwss :D

  • @NoahAndABadger ahaha i was there too. thought they were good actually and also saw nick grimshaw:)

  • Right seriously.... all i can say is i think this is a pukka song and a pukka band after seeing them on several occasions...

I really dont understand the pointless comments that people post on here... I mean, 1 comment 'yawn, at least they are trying', how jealous are you... I think people like you should get on stage after writing your own songs and give a performance, because im almost certain you cant do any of those things so stop criticising bands that can...

  • TOOOOOOMMMMOORRRROOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!:D

  • Liking the Magazine reference :D (the videos very similar to Magazines video for The Light Pours Out Of Me)

  • Comment removed

  • OMG, he totally does look like a psycho Mr Bean. Great track tho.

  • :51 i just cant pretend that im gay´´ lol no offense to this band , they rock but sounds like he says that LMAO

  • oh really?so i should shut my mouth because they are on polydor records?well ..u being a dumb ass classist brit.i fell put in my place.nice of you to let me know that i dont know shit next to polydor who YOU OBVIOUSLY WORSHIP...another english fzashion victim.

  • @stankler You clearly misreard what I was saying. Polydor are a major label, which means that this isn't an indie band like you claimed it was. So not only did you not read what I said properly but you also seem to think I somehow worship polydor for some reason. I think that maybe you should reread my argument and then try commenting again.

Also,I don't see how you can deduce my so-called 'classim' from my nationality without being racist. If you want to be taken seriously, don't be so stupid.

  • yawn. at least they're trying, i suppose

  • @lethe51 Like too see you try.... Think about it...

  • @sianyification ain't my job to try. It's their job. They chose to make records. how about you trying?

  • if you like it then you like it dont over analyse it theres no point

  • another invisible blip on the radar of british indie rock mediocirty

  • @stankler Not that invisible if you were both drawn to watch the video and compelled to leave a comment.

Funny you should say 'indie' rock too when they are signed to polydor, which is a major label. Perhaps you should think before commented. Oh well, never mind, you're comment is, of course, just an insignificant drop in the ocean of bile that is the internet. Sorry for dashing your sole moment of intellectual pride.

  • Who Cares. We all have influences and musical heroes. There's no point pretending that you're not influenced by what you like, alot of bands do that. Like a denial or honest ignorance that they want to fool people to think they're authentic. But it's the taking aspects of each one that you can find a new direction to something original.

  • Awesome!!!

  • you sad cunts ripping off interpol.starts with bass snare from PDA..then check the guitarist plays same brand of guitar as daniel kessler and shuffles his feet about imitating his hero.england =with the exception of the cribs..a land of pale imtation.chancers wankers.screw the media

  • @stankler I'm sorry I just found that so funny. They sound nothing like Interpol. Interpol have their influences as well. There's no such thing as a completely original song. If you're claiming that The Cribs are the only original band England has produced well, where did the most influenced band of all time come from? (The Beatles.) They're not my favorite band but you can't deny they're impact. If I really need to list more: Joy Division, The Smiths, Radiohead, The Clash... I could list more.

  • @IAmChuckSama Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, New Order, Depeche Mode, Cure, Cult...and tons more.. im American, every good piece of music is from across the pond and the Brits do music best. every genre, period, besides maybe punk cuz the ramones are the best punk band of all time

  • @ninraven1817

Agreed. Thank you. There are also a lot of American greats though.

  • @ninraven1817 the clash is the best punk band of all time, and this band is shit...

  • @afrolibertino The Clash is the 2nd best punk band of all time...Ramones are still number one, and I guarantee you that The Clash would even say that.

  • @IAmChuckSama man Joy division rockz, I Believe its the band that influenced ( and still does) a lot of new indie/post punk alternative bands :)

  • @stankler ok man wtf is ur problem ? cuz they sound nothing Like interpol, ive been a big fan of Interpol these years, since the first EP came out and I Do like this band as well n some others like Cut city the smiths, the killers, The sound, The drums, Nada surf etc.. i dont think they ripped off something from Interpol dude and if they did , well who gives a fuck, Bands take influences from other bands , thats how media works right now so get over it and enjoy the music, Have a good day :)

  • they may be similar to the smiths but at least they're GOOD!!!!!

  • why are they copying the smiths?

  • these are playing in sunderland soon,

    going to be mint

  • one of the guitarists thinks hes costello, the other thinks hes mozza.

  • Excelente!!!

  • I love this song!

  • These were brilliant at Nottingham Dot to Dot festival!!!!

  • what the fuck is this shit?

  • Comment removed

  • how cool is that guitarist with the quiff?! :D

  • Comment removed

  • @TheSleathable The video is pretty much exactly the same too!

  • Comment removed

  • @TheSleathable dude, dont be a rash douche, what exactly was stolen, sound? song ? no...set? oh my god, what an idea to be stolen, stage lights and the band performing, whoa, good catch, im sure these guys watched that vid and were like "yeahhhh, thats it!!!"

if were gonna say simplicity has a patent, that lights and a band in a music video can never be replicated, then we'll never get anywhere

im sure there a million videos like this...

  • The lead singer is emulating Ewan McGregor circa Trainspotting...

  • Awesome!

  • Caught them at The Barfly Cardiff last night, they were faultless but i will say I think they were a bit put off by some has been from a band that go by the name of Demented are go.All night he just went around pissing everybody off including the three bands.Sorry chaps, please come back soon.

  • ok but a bit boring nothing new here

  • the singer looks like mr Bean

  • @me2226 mr. bean with a little robert de niro!

  • Urm, no he dont, its sad that alot of people on here need there eyes tested....Like big time...

  • Comment removed

  • @me2226 CAN'T BE UNSEEN

  • @me2226 totally PML at this. he does aswell

  • Not a bad song, but what's with the guitarist with quiff and stripey top's comedy dancing?

  • Cracking song from what seems to be a really exciting prospect of a band. Obvious Morrissey lyrical intent but hey ho, other bands have much worse influences! Will definitely be following these lads closely.

  • Personally im not convinced

  • good song :) it really reminds me of something.......... :O they are great tho :)

  • I like the song, but they;re trying so hard to look indie, what with the disinterested looks on the band members, smiths haircuts and all..

If I don't take it seriously it's fine but worried band do...

If they don't relax noone minds if you look like you're having fun, you look like you're trying really hard to look indie :|

  • Glad you like the song.... But totally dont agree with the whole their trying to look indie thing..... they dress like that way before the band was ever formed... and the disinterested faces are more that they have never recorded a video before and the front singer as only ever done around 15 gigs, so pretty new to him.... Every1 as there own stage presence, and seeing them live a few times now, they seem pretty good to me... O and for the haircuts.. again had long before band ever formed...

  • ''Overrated butch of arrogant wankers''- thats really funny, has i know these guys personally and they are well nice people.... WHO'S JEALOUS....? Mr Brummiepisshead - i think

  • Saw these up close and personal at the Flapper in Birmingham, what an overrated bunch of arrogant wankers these lads are!

  • im off to see these fellas in newcastle in a few months, looking forward toit... is anyone else?

  • Does anyone know the basic chord arrangement for this song? It's good.

  • i don't remember clicking on the smiths

  • @hiphopisliveable thats because you didn't.....

  • @hiphopisliveable hahahahashahaha

  • @hiphopisliveable You didnt mate, least you know that now... Bless ya, must of been so confusing for you...Lemon

  • @hiphopisliveable Why do people keep saying that? The instrumentals sound nothing alike. The singer just sounds similar to Morrissey.

  • I love this

  • Lewis Bowman. <333

  • they sound a bit like gene, who kind of sounded a bit like the smiths, but all bands can be likened to others, the songs I've heard from them up to now have been 'stop what your doing and find out who's on the radio songs'

  • sounds pretty fear bubblin' to me!

  • This has been a real grower. Great mood tune. Singer has a sublime voice and stance.

  • This song has classy written all over it... Absolute perfection... <3 They've obviously been infuenced by bands like The Smiths and Joy Division but that almost adds to its charm :) Beautiful...xx

  • Does anyone else think there's an element of 'Floodlit World' by the criminally-overlooked Ultrasound in this?

  • I am all for bands that make no secret of their inspirations, but you can be too literal with it, like with this. I own the Echo and the bunnymen records, and also the Smiths backcatalogue, so why would I listen to this in preference? Good luck to 'em though, at least they aren't a simon cowell assett. Maybe they will find their own identity in time.

  • I echo others views that they have a Smiths/Joy Division sound about them, the other vids of them display their diversity and with Radio one giving them air time they should do well....Good luck to the band.... just hope they stay creative when they make it big.
