Though this song does not get 2 much into my musical preference , I have to recognize that it 's all beauty and elegance , really a Top class entry as typical of Italy in many contests .
Tnks x posting it tasoks3 , I really enjoed you video ;-)
@jasonptify - it would sound better perhaps in a jazz club not for a eurovision audience although it did well but i suspect that was because Italy hadnt participated in eurovision for many years and the people felt nostalgic more than voting for a good song
@jasonptify then let's bann jazz from our beloved esc ,since in your mind it shouldn't be allowed to partecipate having as same chance as any kind of music else .....
Sorry, but I find your argument quite weak. not to say nonsensical .
As x the voting , probably you couldn't keep yourself well informed on that nite of may : people voted Italy's song 11th , experts juries instead 1st , with a 70 pts lead over the 2nd song , which I don't think have anything to do with homecoming courtesy
but it has much to do with a Top quality song ( in my opinion the only one really Top ).
A top quality song disliked by clueless people with bad taste x music who chose the cheesey rubbish x teens or the usual medium-paced pop tune in place of the one classy entry .
In my humble opinion , Eurovision audience got so much accustomed to the average sized garbage music in last years of esc, that they truly trust there's no music else left !
Yes I know San Remo. X factor is a TV show that was created in Britain by Simon Cowell then sold to many many countries to make their own version It will now join its sister show American idol in USA. I think I read Italy stopped entering Eurovision because RAI said it was ridiculous and outmoded
@sandrodream1 grazie! e la verita , no? nicola di bari sang at the eurovision in edimburgo 1972, my mother and father took me to the contest - i was 11. vicky leandros won with apres toi for lussemburgo and united kingdom came second with the new seekers beg steal or borrow , i think, This song representing italy was very beautiful but almost too simple to win, i believe
Those were the times when fine melodies and voices like him still counted with Eurovision. Nowadays a good voice is no longer required, let alone a fine melody. I no longer watch it, it seems it has become a showpiece for freaks now. Thanks for posting this (although I like his San Remo version of this song better, it's more intimate in style). I've already got a cassette with Nicola's finest, maybe this summer I find a good CD in Italy as well. PS You've got a lot of SPAM on this song, pity!
What do you mean about spam? But, yes, I agree that the Sanremo version is indeed better, for the additional reason that here a piece of the song has been cut in order to keep the 3-minute rule (Nicola's performance is flawless in both events, though!)
My friend, its sad to say, but you will never see the likes of DiBari, Ranieri, Nada, Mina, ever again. Your job now is to make sure you collect all their CD's before they are no longer available.
YES!! i AGREE A NMILLION TIMES!! THOSE MELODIES, THOSE GENTILE FEELINGS, ORCHESTRATION, SENTIMENTS - ALL THROWN AWAY NOW FELL BY TH E WAYSIDE IN THE PURSUITE OF MONEY AND "FAME" - yes it is lovely, wish could change he World to be feeling again! t.k
I'm afraid it's the latter :-P No, Nicola is actually the Italian equivalent of Nicholas, and Michele is similarly the equivalent of Michael. You're welcome ;-)
yes cue Seth, ESCsince1968....all jumping to ur defence "oh tasos never mind him - he's so uncouth" - all in ur dinnerjackets, cravats, and drag (you know who) - drinking red wine & telling how in the old days the ESC was so cultural & how Yugoslavia & Italy were just so ahead of their time ( BELCH!)
The nationality of an entry taken into account or no, it just so happens that many songs that I love in this contest come from the same country - France and Greece are two countries that pop to mind (and indeed Italy). That doesn't suggest that they're "kings" of this contest - as you've said yourself, no country has the 'magic touch'. So naturally we get a little predisposed towards entries from those countries - but this is a case where I think you should give our Greek friend a rest.:)
Oh this is just wonderful - such a profound sentiment - Im in tears (sound of needle swiftly lifted over record)....yes the usual OVER-RATED JUNK - but u keep ur Italian specs well and truelly nailed to ur head - u'll wake up one day
Oh, come on, can't I just like a song for what it is? It seems that YOU're the one keeping the anti-Italian specs nailed to your head - but, nevermind, you'll come around one day :-P
Great song, one of my favorites of all time.

Mi sembra incredibile che abbiano censurato una delle frasi della canzone. Cosa c'e di male nel dire "a sedici anni hai gia avuto un amante"?

There are two versions of this song, The original has stronger lyrics and it's better than the modified version cause the censorship of that time.

Nicola was the voice of Sanremo in the 70's. When I hear "Sanremo", I think of 1970, 71, 72 and Nicola Di Bari.

BEAUTIFUL classic NICOLA DI BARI song.
I wish people who are clearly diseased with heavy rock/metal
would NOT comment on great MELODIC music as they show
themselves up as a big embarassment.
