  • This entire album reminds me of a very tart lego-shaped candy that my sister brought me from Iowa. I listened to the entire album while playing with the candies. BITTE ORCA, ORCA BITTE.

  • @JakeSchmader1 lego should make candies like that! gingerbread houses would be so much easier to make.

  • I don't know about you but i just enjoy it.

  • this song along with most the rest of the album makes me depressed because it remminds me of a time i thought fondly of that i no longer have and may never return to me, friends, places, and people that i will be able to experience again, memories that are now only memories and nothing solid which leaves my heart vacant as i listen to these songs and reflect on last year

  • @weeklyintergrate i agree. i dont think its trying to sound like pop but i do think people just say they like things like this because they want to be different. just because its different doesnt mean its the better way to go. however, im not hatting or anything. i love this song. and most of the songs on this CD. stillness is the move <3

  • Gives you an unique experience. Lovely voice that sends tremors to my bones.Thank you.

  • *melts* This is (by far) my favourite song! It's so warming and majestic! I could listen to it forever!

  • This song is kinda long but there wasnt a single part of it that i didnt enjoy (:

  • 1:39 is so sick

  • so at first i thought cool! they sound kind of like ratatat. but then i hear that lulling, soaring male vocal, and then the folky acoustic guitar kicked in, I thought holy shit awesome! almost like fleet foxes with an electronic twist. then the electric jammin' breakdown came which sounded like paranoid android-meets-trout mask replica, then THE FUCKING FEMALE VOICES that sounded like doo wop and golden motown, then the solo, then that FUCKING ENDING, and I died.

  • @thedividedheir You mean your lunch was Bitte Orca and tasteless. :P

  • i just came ugh

  • at 3:10, when the new vocals start, my cat went mental

  • @Domydoor Hahaha youre comment is making me literally laugh out loud. please explain what exactly youre cat did lol

  • @salmonphatshoes literally jumped up in the air xD but this was like a month ago :L

  • 25 dislikes? Wtf is wrong with those people?

  • Harmony on point! (=

  • holy shit

  • I've references to Gestalt psychology in their lyrics, is the title "Useful Chamber" a reference to an "Operant Chamber"?

  • First I was listening to '90s extreme metal and then... I LOVE YOUTUBE.

  • MUITO MASSA A MUSICA"!!

  • Being indie is a state of mind. Yes I like music that no one knows, no I don't think all mainstream stuff is shit. Because it isn't. It has some substance and catchy tunes. And that's all you really need to look for in music.

  • Ace song. Check out psychedelic all-girl trio Stealing Sheep, Dirty Projectors' English sisters. youtube.com/watch?v=-VYO0DHYMvg

  • this is so schizo haha

  • I'm... caught up in a storm...

    THAT I

    doooooon't need no shelter from...

all i want and all i need is right herrre w/ me (:

  • I bought the $53 Newspaper album box set of The King of Limbs, but then I read Pitchfork's review, a 7.9. Every point was so spot on that I decided to cancel the purchase and delete the download. Thumbs up if you trust Pitchfork for every musical decision.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it's sooooooo goood

  • so out there... im not sure if i love it or hate it.

  • This will be the last thing I hear as I die, as it will swell and flow through the atmosphere as the world ends.

  • I listen to song about 3 times a day. I think it's becoming a problem.

They're so good, end of story.

  • Dude that Burial Grounds band is pretty sick!^

  • God, what we would do without Pitchfork!? They are THE definitive experts on what's hot and what's not - I hang on their every review, and only buy what's rated high.....

  • so much fun!!!

  • My Gosh..this stuff is VERY PROGRESSIVE. And I should know, I'm ProgHead...Awesome album.

  • 3:10...whoa

  • post-indie-vocal-harmony-progressive-math-chamber-pop

  • I can air guitar the shit out of this song.

  • ha, that's the best comment to anything i've ever seen.

    @LennonIsNotDead

  • the lyrics are wrong

    look at this fan page

    at Useful Chamber.

but i love the lyrics that you wrote :D

  • Not hatin, I love Vamp Weekend, but there is Like No Way they're getting picked up before the Dirties

  • Adventurous discovery!

  • fuuuck pitchfork

  • I just love their sounds, their album covers, their attitude, their melodies.. their everything, basically.

  • fack fack fack fap fap yay

  • i can't wrap my head around this band... i love them, though. that's all i know.

  • all their songs are so majestic, Its like the carpteners on acid .

  • Amaury dumbo!!!

  • Just throw your hands in the ay-er,

and wave 'em like you just don't care,

and if you like fish and grits and all that pimp shit,

everybody let me here you say oh yay-er.

--Andre Benjamin would dig this shit!

  • Shitifying.

  • love it!

  • so western

  • lcd soundsystem, mgmt, animal collective, passion pit

  • Lol'd at the whole "indie is a genre" in here.

  • when the girls come in i feel like my head is in between them in the picture on the album cover. some serious chemistry goin on with these guys on this album.

  • I can't believe how awesome this song is. Projectors can consider everything they have for sale purchased within the next few weeks ;-)

  • does it nauseate anyone to see all of these pointless comments expressing how "indie" everyone thinks they are just for listening to this type of music? if you feel the need to claim that you're "SO INDIE" - on youtube! - it clearly reiterates the fact that you are not. i'm not entirely sure if you people are even aware that the derivation of the word "indie" stems from the word: INDEPENDENT.

    seriously? piss off.

and by the way, this IS song cool. period. the end. shut up and LISTEN.

    love,

    m

  • Everybody should check out Dragons of Zynth.

  • Good God, I love this song. Really stuck out to me on the album.

  • im a hipster, and this song made me cum all over my screen

  • "I don't know what I should be lookin' at / But I will look wherever I'm told"

    (B)ITTE (O)RCA, (O)RCA (B)ITTE!

Now remove the letters not parenthesized.

  • This sounds very Radiohead to me... I can't get enough of this song. Dirty Projectors are def. one of my favorite bands.

  • pitchfork top ten albums is how i find all my music, im SO INDIE!

  • @jpmahone hahaha :P

  • @jpmahone INDIE ALL THE WAY!!!!!!

  • @jpmahone Your not if you have to say you are

  • @jpmahone So nice! :D thank you.

  • @jpmahone WAIT, i just checked the page I hated it and it disgusted me to see a kanye west album review, and worst of all a "clean" ten when all it talks about is Dirty stuff.

  • @jpmahone Hipster alert.

  • @graysonbreeden Retard alert.

Missed the point of the joke alert.

    Faggot alert.

  • @DefeezyweeZzZy ..Yeah, I got it... I was kinda half agreeing there.. Funny how neither my reply nor your sarcasm translated well in text. (The only difference being you managed to be an ass and jump the gun in return..)

  • @jpmahone

    aAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHSAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

you sound JUST like the people at my school man!

  • @jpmahone Can't tell if you're making fun of Pitchfags or being completely serious. haha Fuck pitchfork

  • @jpmahone heh why does it seems as though here's more bragging around the better known indie musicians then the really unknown?

  • @jpmahone

this is what's wrong with the music scene

  • @jpmahone Irony FTW!

  • @jpmahone

    Fuck off

  • @jpmahone even better under the radar mag!

  • @jpmahone this is sarcasm, right? being "indie" is the equivalent to saying you just "work". Oh you "work" well what do you do, I operate on human beings when they need medical attention. OH so your a doctor, then you don't just "work". And music isn't "indie"... you just made my amazing lunch with The Dirty Projectors so bitter and tasteless.

  • cool guitar part at 6:00

  • Hipster is a word used offensively for bands by those who cant appreciate creativity, for it overturns their bland worn out bitter tastes.... how convenient of you its just like your gunna write something off just like, if thats the mindset you want to keep than your ignorance is gunna have no influence on any of those who want to break out in spirit

  • @DamnedYouFakers well bitte is please or you're welcome in german. orca is i dunno, a whale, or a cutesy pet name for someone who goes to art school and wears american apparel and uses 'like' n 'kinda n 'gunna' so much you wanna bake a shit and force feed it to them.

  • @quillber lolol whats wrong with art schools, and american apparel. XD people are allowed to create their own way of being emotionally attached to something, if this includes dreaming up nicknames then so be it, its not like theyre looking down on anyone else

  • @quillber I sense a little bit of enthusiasm!

  • @enjoi4202 i sense a shit baking in my oven

  • @quillber If you took some of that enthusiasm to bake your own feces and directed towards the upper part of your browser you could easily find something you actually enjoy like a normal healthy person

  • @enjoi4202 if the dirty projectors was a person they'd wear ear muffs, ankle warmers, watch 'you me and everyone we know' obsessively and be called 'pixie' or 'trixiebell sparkle'. thinks they're an artist cause they have feelings. im entitled to say whatever i please. eat my shit!

  • @quillber I almost understood what you wanted to say, and I've already been eating it ,I guess I'll help myself to seconds

  • @enjoi4202 that means a lot to me, thanks

  • @quillber waw. thinks they're an artist because they have feelings" what a take.

  • @quillber "thinks they're an artist cause they have feelings. im entitled to say whatever i please." a good point. but throwing, "eat my shit!" at the end of a good point doesn't exactly support your idea.. in other words, the more intelligent people here wont listen to you, and judging by your outspokenness, you are desperate for the attention, so do yourself a favor and stop making yourself seem like an idiot. just backing you up man.

  • @BeauSylvester47 eat my shit!

  • why doesn't youtube allow more than one "like"?

  • the title of this album makes me want to vomit in someones face. 'bitte orca' - seriously, i hope they get attacked by angry dolphins the bastards.

  • @quillber hmm so what does bitte orca mean?

  • yess inded

  • Themee of Amaury Dumboo' (Panicoo na TV) *--* /adogoo'

  • I like the Dirty Projectors a lot. But there's no denying that this song would fit seemlessly onto Amnesiac (or Kid A, sans the guitar breakout). Both bands are great, but you can't argue against the influence that Radiohead has had on hundreds of bands today. That's not a hipstery thing to say, that's just the truth.

  • linda musica !!

  • so full of life, and energy, so rich and powerful song!

  • Amazingly clever music.

  • i love this music !!

  • @aokay25 more specifically @ 2:10

  • @WeeklyIntegrate

    this sounds nothing like radiohead

  • @WeeklyIntegrate : Noise rock ?

This is actually pretty melodic, except the part with distorded guitar which is pretty short.

It obviously don't reach Radiohead, but this don't even sound like RH ~~ .

    Nor it tries to.

  • @WeeklyIntegrate

You're calling us hipsters, and here you are comparing a band to Radiohead just because you think this sounds wierd.

Not all indie/avant garde bands are emulating Radiohead, stop being a hipster. lrn2music

  • @WeeklyIntegrate I respect your subjective opinion and support your ability to voice it.

  • This is what I listen to when driving around with friends. The breakdown in the song always gets us going. Man I love the dirty projectors!

  • Kind of a hip hop beat at 2 mins

  • the album art is awesome

  • so amazingggg

  • i remember seeing this LP next to Vampire Weekend - Contra. I only had $20, i stood there for literally 20 minutes, decided to get Contra. BUT the next day i got more money and i got Bittle Orca. story of my life, dont make fun of me :)

  • @longestusernameiknow Which one do you like better now?

  • my favorite song of the album, so great

  • It annoys me how by the time a band's status has grown enough for me to hear of them, and by the time I've warmed to their music, I find out that they've been to Toronto months ago, and that they won't be returning until their next album is released. SUCK IT, DIRTY LCDs D:<

Moving on. The parts where the bass pounds the timing are my favourite. I especially love the harmony solo into the bit where the bare harmony accompanies the lead. I just jizmed. This song is certainly a favourite of mine.

  • I'm caught up in a storm

That I don't need no shelter from

All I want and all I need

    Right here with me

    You're right here with me

    love those lyrics

  • yep

  • the bitte orca scared me the first time i heard it XD

    but i like this song

  • Let people speak in their own language, this is America......no seas un morro tan ignorante tonto, ve hecha tu cabeza en una jarra de orines y callate la boca!

  • The internet isn't only available in America...

  • one night last winter, when the thermometer dipped to 15 below, the coyote was out. Its tracks are here, cutting the hillside, crossing the deer trail and then zigzagging over the meadow. In three spots, I see where it has burrowed for rodents. Here the coyote stood, tilting its head to the side and ears forward, detecting activity beneath the white layer. There it leapt, all four feet leaving the groud, pouncing nose-first into the foot-deep snow, jaws feeling for a midnight meal.

  • negative comments don't get a thumbs down... just stupid ones...

  • all kinds of music are unable to be appreciated by people who go into listening wondering that, but after listening to a lot of the same music, you lose the ability to say whether it's good or bad, don't trust anyone's opinions, move on if you don't care about the music

  • INCREDIBLE NEW MUSIC THANK GOD

  • Comment removed

  • the best new music i've heard in quite a while. thank god, i was starting to give up hope there!! great harmonies, lyrics, inventive melodies and arrangement. very cool, very very nice. anybody recommend any other cool new music like this? i agree with the guy who referenced Yes. especially the ending with the floating guitars, glorious harmonies, sense of rejoicing and time sig change

  • thats almost too amazing to comprehend. i want this album.

  • As an old chap I could sense the flavour

of Steve Howe's guitar and Yes sounds.

Besides, I enjoyed free rhythmic spirit of

    Bitte Orca album.

  • I agree. There´s a lot of the Yes textures.

  • @strzebowiska i totally agree, there quite a bit of Yes in these guys. especially the guitar work and vocal harmonies

  • @mrsaganscosmos I don't see it.

  • Thanks for the lyrics I love when people does that :)

  • album is amazing. Bitte orca has stolen my heart, hahha.

  • con esta cancion me drogue con crack y que buen viaje jejejeje buena cancion

  • Let people speak in their only language, this is America

  • this is the internet

  • Sorry, didn't realize you were from some foreign country like Yugoslavia.

  • Damn, sorry I meant to give you the thumbs up but accidentally hit thumbs down. Just increment whatever is there by two thumbs.

  • @ILuvTheSeaAndEmery what? this is the internet mayn. it exists all over the world not just your sweet America. lol

  • @jfitz1431 Not gonna lie, America IS pretty sweet:)

  • Oh sorry, I was trying to post to the guy below you, haha, Disculpame compa XD

  • cool song :D

  • Tasteful and original, love those harmonies.

  • this is just pure ecstasy

  • this is very interesting. I love the Kid A sounds in the beginning. Love the part when he is singing 'Bitte Orca, Orca Bitte'. I'll have to see if this grows on me or if it grows old real quick.

  • @gothamfoodie so what's the verdict? i think it's definitely grown on me, much like the rest of the album.

  • How the hell does this group play this live?

  • @noecstasy good question ;)

  • Perfectly. Really impressive.

  • I'm assuming either with a fuck ton of stage musicians, OR they don't use the album arrangement. Very few songs on Bitte Orca actually sound like they can be done live similarly to the record versions.

  • They've actually done very well in their live performances from this album. Very impressing indeed.

Its a shame that something this good is not manifest in our media. Maybe then they could afford the stage musicians and we'd have some decent art on the radio.

  • have a look, there are some live vids on youtube. surprisingly similar on stage, heavy musical chops ahoy.

  • @noecstasy Just saw them play it live last night. I don't know how: they just do it! However, they altered the durations of some of the vocals that come in around 3:20

  • wow, my first impression is on a tightrope between admiration and intense annoyance. interesting.

  • so many moments shocked and surprised with joy! I'm so grateful for bands like this.

  • I'm not very fond of the album as a whole, but this song just fucking rocks! Easily one of my favorite songs from '09.

  • this sounds like a j dilla beat!!

    or daedelus....

this could be a dope hip hop track

  • The harmonies from the girls 2:00 onward are AMAZING.

  • this is such a harmonic song. sounds like someone had some fun playing in the recording studio, but not in the bad way. im addicted to this song

  • This is so oddly off-beat...In a good way though :)

  • a pretty hot lesbian couple; nah but this is ok
