  • Can someone please show me a bad song of theirs? They're so much better than the fucking Time so they must be gods.

  • I hate that bassist.

  • @9inchnirvana same here. Like 5 times

  • I've been watching this at least 5 times everyday, even though there is no lou, it is amazing

  • Suck this, Steve Vai.

  • Murph killing it on the drums.

  • J is the only guitar player that can squeeze anguish, pain, frustration, beauty and grief out of an electric guitar without being a blues picker. I've always loved this band, cause they weren't afraid to be a rock band. Unlike a lot of anemic British bands...

  • Way better solo than the album version, too. Makes you wonder if that whole masterpiece of a solo was just off the cuff.

  • best musical blob 'o' hair there ever was and is to come.

  • yeah in 1994 I went to see them in amsterdam ,and i tell the bass player :you could at least pull a smile sometimes, he looked so shifted, and he just did this amazing grin to me,what a amazing souvenir, I was 16.

  • Man that is just so good. There is some damn good music coming out right now if you look for it... But nothin like this. Just freaking totally kickass.

  • i fucking love the fact he is doing this pretty much blinded by his hair, lol, what a track

  • The thing about them is that they played and sang about love in a way that made sense, and still does.

  • The thing about J. Mascis is that he sang about romance in a way that made sense at the time.

  • @ChewYourGrouse the lyrics to this song are beautiful poetry and the passion feel of the song really drives them home.

its a punk rock masterpiece! if one is permitted to say that. and why the fuck cant 'one' say that? its punk rock, 'one' can say whatever 'one wants.

  • Things that J. Mascis does while his hair is completely obscuring his face:

    *practices at the firings range

    *plays golf

*types his thesis on existentialism in popular music

    *teaches maths to underpriveliged children

    *makes love to... whoever

    *SHREDS

  • what an amazing version, dino rule..........

  • oh my god... that solo... O.O

  • love this group!!!

  • Oh man...Great stuff!!

  • Comment removed

  • one of the best dino jr songs, and one of the best live recordings of the band as well.fucking win all round

  • Could Mascis possibly see the guitar frets through that impenetrable massive wall of metalhead hair? Oh, wait, he doesn't need to? FUCK.

  • goddamn that was nuts....im soooooooo stoned B)

  • Wahwah

  • raisAns!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • best live tv apperance EVER

  • what a solo, can't wait til may 18th to see them.

  • dude, cousin it can jam!

  • its raisans ffs!!!!!!!!! Still gets the old hairs on the back of the neck goin'!

  • ...back when MTV actually cared about music.

  • Hah, looks like cousin it has his own band lmao.

  • i'm watching that again

  • i use to own this vhs! do you also have the part where they play "thumb?!" ive been looking alll over for it!

  • Best Hair of all time? I think so!

  • god damn that solo is sick

  • Back when J was PISSED.

  • Raisans

    Raisans

    Raisans

    Thanks

  • my life sucks

  • J's lead parts amaze me. I put him high on the list of great guitar players.

  • @sciencekiller7689 He's the Hendrix of my generation :)..... I'm dead serious.

  • this may be the single best dinosaur clip i've seen on youtube. top 3 for sure! thanks! and yes, change the name to Raisans.

  • Simply great!

  • Awesome band, song and version, thanks a lot RicDube, plus the sound is pretty good, and the song rarely seen on video, isn't it?

  • This is the best ever live rendition of a DJ song..the solo is a masterpiece

  • Yeah, please change the spelling to Raisans. What a rousing rendition of this tune, I must say.

  • The title of the song is spelled "Raisans" -- you might want to change that if you want more people to find this clip.

  • that guys got a hairy face

  • this was most likely before cobains death cause Mtv is gay like that but regardless Dinosaur jr. is the shit and this song is fuckin great, one of my favorites.

  • melhor solo \o\

  • 1:42...sick.

  • thanks

  • phase shifter on clean tone

  • does anyone know what effect j is using from 1:41-2:01???

  • probably a phaser or some type of modulation

  • ese es el mejor pinche solo que he escuchado

  • ill be down, ill be around, ill be hanging where eventuall you have to be

  • Man, Mascis' vocals in this are HARSH.

  • this shit makes me wet

  • J MASCIS IS GOD

  • J is a god.

  • musica phodaça...

    solo muito bom...

  • goldbug that was beautiful hahah

  • it's looks like J's & Co. are playing to the absolute void..something like a post-apocalpytic scenario where J is attempting to conjure back existence with the sheer primordial force of his solo!

  • whoa maaan, that's heaveeey.

  • here our test subject can be seen giving in to the lsd......

    haha

  • @g0ldbuG ...and it worked

  • yeah great solo great song great j what else? great hair maybe

  • WOW!!!!!

  • awesome solo, one of my fave tunes

  • dude amazing guitar

    almost classical

puth this guy on the list bros

  • Im guessing J likes cows...official dinosaur jr tshirts have a cow logo on them, there are cows in the video for 'Whatever's Cool With Me' and here he is wearing a blazer with the inner lining apparentley a fresian cow print design. Just an observation lol

  • hair covering his face.. just love jay. he's brilliant pure n simple. he could care less about image as long as his music stands the test of time and it does by a long shot! go mascus!!!!!!!!!!

  • great performance

  • j's guitar playing ability and song writing abilities are so fuckin sick tht he may subconciously be smarter then he thinks...idk...i hope someone understands, jam on

  • J Mascis is probably tied with Thurston Moore for my favorite 80's 90's alternative guitarist

  • si q solo na huevona !

  • SOLO!

  • favorite song on the album, possibly most of all

  • Amazing, amazing song. Too bad they speeld it wrong in the title.

  • haha yeah I noticed that too..the correct spelling is actually wrong.

  • i love this performance well good nice guitar sound as well

  • cool jacket & belt j wears

  • i. e., the standard J Mascis Guitar Hero Costume

  • Awesome performance. This album was dinosaur at there very best. Agree ???

  • You're Living All Over Me was their peak for sure, a definate cult classic.

  • Im glad you agree with me on that Honeypower.

Im looking for new music, are there any current bands you think are worth listening out for? as you obviously have good taste.

  • Thank you for the compliment :) I don't know about current bands though, I mainly just listen to stuff from the 60s/70s/80/90s haha. Though this modern band Piano Magic are pretty great...

  • Thanks you for the recommendation, i will listen out for them. I am like you, i mainly just listen to old stuff i still really like.

    Take care.

  • i realise this is from a while back.. but i found this cool swedish band. lol.

pet salad. u should definately check them out.

    cheers

  • Thank you for the recommendation, much appreciated. I will check them out. If you have any other recommendations let me know.

You have good taste in music judging by the vids on your channel.

    Cheers.

  • Deerhunter, and Dead confederate

  • the second greatest 3 piece ever second only to cream

  • hmmm debatable.. Mascis > Clapton IMO.

  • j puts hendrix to shame.

  • let's not go crazy

  • Juliana Hatfield did a great cover version of this one! By the way, check out my videos - Dinosaur Jr Live in Sweden 2005. Mascis totally beats the livin' crap out of Yngwie Malmsteen.

  • the best live version ever...........

  • "The lights exploded

She stood burning in front of me

She ripped my heart out and gave it to me"

I always loved the opening to this song. Oh and that Mascis guy can play guitar a bit.

  • Hahahaha

  • fucking awesome!!!

  • la raja

  • It's called real music you idiotic Viacom spawned Linkin Park fan.

  • jesus christ haha i cant even see the comment but i dont wanna know haha

  • mascis' voice is so fierce on this, way different from the original version...

  • man, his hair is good.

  • why is this marked as spam?

  • lou is better.

  • Yeah he's no Lou but this performance rules hard.

  • classic stuff, does anyone remember that they also performed 'Budge' in same session, have it on vhs, have to convert it, anyone have it posted digitally???fergal, carlow

  • yes i have it up

  • esta cancion es de mis favoritas. dinosaurio junior.

  • I was lucky enough to see them at Mr. Small's Theatre in Pittsburgh with a few other exceptionally excellent bands. The greatest show I've ever been to. I stood 5 feet away J's 3 Marshall full stacks. I couldn't hear for two days, and when I came into school the next day, I couldn't even reply to my teachers because the ring in my ear was so loud that everything was pretty much inaudible.

  • thats the exact fuckin thing that happened to me!

  • saw them there as well. it was just as loud in the back.

  • wasn't lucky enough to be there, do you remember them playing 'budge'????

  • Haha, I was standing sideways to Mascis's rig and only went temporarily deaf in my left ear, so I was walking off balance for a couple of days.

  • the solo.

  • rawk on!

  • Best song

  • I was there mutherfuckers, u rule baby

  • HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • orgasmical!!!!!! especially the solo i wanna play liek dat so bad!

  • fucking rules

  • You're very lucky. I saw them at The Forum last year but something wasn't quite right. Don't get me wrong, it was good but you could tell that there was still friction between the group. If there was a time machine i'd set it to 1993 so i could grow my hair long and wear flannel shirts again. God, I love grunge.

  • flannel shirts, yeah, I'm wearing this clothes regulary again, it's somekind of a MY time machine ;)

  • viva la flannel!!!

  • I wish i could find Turnip Farm live. I would be so happy.

  • it was early 1993, this shoot. I did the monitor mixes in the studio. it was the loudest thing we'd ever done in there.

  • dinosaur jr rock i ditched highschool one day to see nirvana and dinosaur jr play in seattle, early 90s was the golden age of distortion rock

  • Now that is class.

The guys still sound great 13 years on....

    Nap

  • This a pure eargasm!

  • i love this performance well good nice guitar sound as well

  • fucking god damn

  • ur gay joe kraut...

  • j reminds me of garth from waynes world

  • One of the greatest videos I've seen in my life.

  • This Mascis dude is a madman, an utter nutter! I really like his songs, but his attitude towards live performances is reckless and "fuken" unbearable with all this "make their ears bleed" attitude! There is a thing called tinnitus and it can fuck up your life pretty badly. The songs dont gain either when everything just distorts in your ears. Fucking moron... I wonder, after over 20 years he must be completely deaf by now.

  • Hahaha.

  • The thing is he wouldn't be able to have such musical liquidy sounding guitar saturation if he weren't running a shitload of Marshalls (heads, not cabinets) together at high volumes. Hendrix knew dis too.

  • Well Lou Barlow once said that J didnt give a fuck about the audience and he would turn up the amps all the way. That was back in the day, i think it hasnt changed a bit hahahaha. J and the band have been using earplugs for the past 20 years so i wouldnt be too worried about them xD

  • that is the stupidest comment ive ever heard in my life.

  • yea right, louder louder louder, make joe kraut's ears bleed, and mine too, except i'll enjoy it

  • i like how he bends the sites

    awesome stuff at all

  • I have the video where its from.

  • Thanks a lot, this is one of the best Dino songs. Great performance.

  • Apparently it was because Murph used to chew said raisans, re-gurgitate, and then, for a finale, spit them out and finally model them into minature versions of Kiss. This was the sole reason Murph lost all of his hair - some said pact with the Devil for playing feedback enduced guitar pop, Beelzebub thought otherwise. Who said the Devil has all the best tunes?????? He obviously hates drummers.

  • these guys made me want to play guitar, legends!

  • awesome

  • anyone know what effects he got going at 4 minutes? chorus and delay or somefing.

  • Sounds like wah.

  • I love thisa song, but does anyone know why it's called raisins?

  • remmember J is a weird dude and so are dinosaur.

  • Cousin It 0_0

  • Ahh, this is great! I love J's solo's..

  • Oh, like groovy, man. Wow. Anybody watching must've thought this was a negative reality inversion.

  • Legendary.

Nirvana, were real good, however, these guys along with SY, Husker Du and Pixies were the legendary bands of the indie scene during that era

  • j's hair looks really clean...

  • real cool.
