  • what Song is she playing in this video

  • Pirooz is trolling, I think. The agent of a grammy-nominated, widely respected, well-known, dedicated, heavily-touring musician with 6 CD's and a contract with Deutsche Grammophon isn't going to suggest to his client that she 'consider modeling, in case the music thing doesn't work out.' the exciting thing about our species, however, is that no matter how silly the opinion, you can never quite be sure of the difference between asininity, and trolling.

  • What song is this??

  • give it a rest already....I will no longer dicker over an opinion. I've too much to lay to rest this month, and this biased debate which started on a 41sec sound bite is blip in time puts too much negative energy out there and so... "you win....she's a sex object with no talent".....I lay this conversation to rest as well.....

you are blocked from my emails as spam

  • indian classical music is Great)). "SAAZ MUSICALS" (indian professional musical instruments shop)

  • toll_lÊùtÈ_sücht_mál_Ñach:_olikohle_Åûf_göÕglé_vôll_gËÍl

  • what is the name of this song she is playing here

  • Please, please tell me where I may hear the rest of this?

  • Class.

  • The sound is okay, apart from the rather abrupt ending, but it is quite frankly visually apalling, and doesn't do Anousha Shankar, nor her wonderful music any favours whatsoever......

  • nunschnüffel gibts den keinen hier der mit mir chatten mag bin so gelangweilt

  • pure, pure, pure, TALENT!

  • why isn't this 5 star?

  • Fantastic. My con gradulation

    Rufus

  • lol shredding is some thing that applies to guitar i think....in the sitar u always sweep and shred .... andd i believe ( tho i havent really played one) that the sitar string is much higher up than the fretboard.

  • bella

  • i was there woop woop absolutley amazing..........

  • @stubar86 Do you know where I can hear the rest of this phenomenally expressive solo? I am prepared to *purchase* the music, legally if I have to. Please help?

  • my god.. what a beautiful isai.... god dwells in these moments of beauty

  • Good music, short skirt, bare feet- I like it.

  • thats not a skirt, that is a modern salwar with tight pants; and bare feet becuase it is disrespectful to 1) point your shoes at your audience and 2) to play your instrument with shoes on.

  • I have heard of disrespectful to point your feet, but never heard to not point your shoes. Seems like an odd distinction. Pointing bare feet is OK, but wearing some sort of modest foot covering or sandal would be bad?

  • Listen to the good music. Y r u soo interested in her foot and dress AND SHOES?

  • I mention it because the other poster brought the subject up. In most asian countries, it is considered very rude to point your feet at somebody. Not sure how to NOT do that when most places make you remove your shoes and you have to sit in some fashion. Music is great of course.

  • @padmavenkata Maybe if she tried more to look more conservative on stage, and tried less to be sexy for promoting herself to be famous we won't have that problem?? Her music is really nothing to write home about, she is obviously 'very green' and not made to be an artist. That's the problem with hereditory musical roles in families. Even Mozart's children did not amount to anything muscially! If it were not due to the fact that she is who she is, she would have been insignificant artistically

  • @PiroozAzDirooz you need to spend a little more time on youtube and watch how significantly more talented she is than you give her credit for... you sound to me like a piss ant. she is cultured and well traveled and you know nothing of or about this woman. green, my ass....she could out play some of her fathers peers...

  • @Professorsf26 You are into name calling, I don't play that game. She may be "cultured" and a British-bred, raised, fed, and promoted one at that; but that does not make her a musician--which she is definitely not. She is as far away from her father's composing and playing talents as Glaxy M33 is from the Milky Way.

She will fizzle out into anonymity in the music world. Perhaps you are not thinking but reacting sexually. :)

  • @PiroozAzDirooz

I'm dying to know how old you are and why it is that you would turn to sex as a final retort. I do find her playing and the sitar (when played well) to be a very sensual instrument... I can marinate for hours listening to the right kind of music.... you don't have to be so high-browed and judgemental about someone you don't know. she's very kind and show's immense respect to everyone she meets and talks to you like she's known you for years. she's a sensational human being!

  • @Professorsf26 who, by the way is surrounded by the most amazing people...you can always judge a person by the company they keep. she is untouched by the comment's, but I couldn't help myself, because she is profoundly generous when playing for charity. she doesn't promote herself, I can assure you of that....

now if you'll forgive the name calling, I'm going to put on her cd, light some candles and marinate in some beautiful music.

  • @Professorsf26 Don't get me wrong, I own 'rise" and listen to it and enjoy it too. maybe she will grow as an artist and develop her own style and mature as an artist; but that day is yet to come. Meanwhile, if I were her agents, I would be advising her to diverse and expand into other art forms just in case the music thing does not pan out. with her looks, she could get into cinema, modelling, tv broadcasting, etc. I wish her well.

p.s.-Her name is of Russian origin; Anglo-Russian cooperation...

  • @PiroozAzDirooz and her sisters name is Nora Jones whom followed a completely different path. I've no doubt you have an elitist critique of her music as well...their music is created from love, if you don't appreciate it, then spew your mojo about the music but does it make you feel like a better person to trash her as a person, especially if you don't know how kind and and funny and respectful she is as a person. She really is a selfless giving woman. It's a shame all you see is a sex

  • @Professorsf26 Yes I knwo Nora Jones' music, at least she is true to western music, altho so so as a performer: there are many better than both of them. You are just in love with them, and that's the problem, you can't look at them objectively. I don't care if the artist is "kind" or "funny" or a jerk, all I care about is their wrok. Beethoven was a super jerk and rude to everyone, but he was a musical genius. What does being nice have to do with it?!

Her sex appeal has gotten you.

  • @PiroozAzDirooz what is it with you and sex....most of my favorite artists are men...I love Vivalde's Four Seasons and I could care less what he was like...I love John Mayer's music and he's a sexist pig. I could go on. I won't defend my taste in music to you or anyone... You have a very unhealthy hangup on other peoples sexual proclivities and if you think my attraction to Anoushka Shankar's music is sexual, you are offbase and offensive, yet again....

  • @Professorsf26 I don't need to do this, but I took the time to look up the youtube video that I first saw that attracted me to Ravi Shankar....not his daughter. I did as I always do, explore and listen to all music that is new TO ME! I began to listen to many of Ravi's youtube video's, then I came across "Sitar Legend PT. Ravi Shankar & his lovely Daughter Anoushka.... it was to me, not a sexual experience, but a pleasant 6:22 minutes of watching a father and daughter.

  • The post above was intended to be directed to PiroozAz-Dirooz..... I posted it so quickly, I did so as a reply to my own comment. Imagine that? on a light note, as a women of distinction with good taste in wine, food and women..... I find Anoushka very delicious. you can go rub your chubby picturing that one.

  • @Professorsf26 Well, what else can it be? She is musically insignificant. Histrory has and will prove that. She will not be a name that will stay in music or make a mark. Besides, there is always that attarctiveness factor with a woman performer, you cannot deny that, and there's nothing wrong with that. Anoushka(Russians will be pleased, we know all about the British-Russian connection, but that's another subject, right?) will be a passing fad in music.

  • @Professorsf26 Oh no need to, my age is irrelevant to the fact that she consciously makes herself appear sexy on stage to sell more CDs. See when talent and artistic abilities lack, sex becomes a tool. And ofcourse she has the last name, too. She is but a candle before the bon fire inferno of creativity and skill that is his father. She is a pretender, and has --thanks to her father--many resources and connections in the business to promote her. But that stops cold when the spring is dry.

  • Respond to this video...oh, I don't doubt that she may be kind and all that. Although, she does appear somewhat haughty and aristocratic, perhaps even arrogant and elitist. This is the opposite of the feeling one gets from Ravi's humble genius.

I think she would do much better in cinema than she will ever continue to do as a musician which she is not. The albums she has out so far, like "Rise"(another sexual connotation) is good, but it is not her, it is the collection of others' helping her.

  • BEST 5++++++++
