  • nice

  • there will be no other voice like "our mario"....but i do think with time mark vincent will be a very close second...he has the same showmanship as our dear mario...and now to see if his voice will mature into it...and i believe yes

  • There are no words to overstate the quality of this voice.

  • wow~! Mario was pretty studly!! holy smokes....

  • Me & my mother loved this song he died too soon and was wonderful , being in an italian family my dad liked him also and would sing opera in the bathroom as he was shaving . I blamed holiywood for this he was told to lose some weight for certain rolls and gain weight for another roll . How much can a heart take ?

  • so many comments echo mine that sum up this stunning voice

  • Магия его голоса потрясает...

  • He inspired many tenors including Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, Enrico Di Giuseppe, Carlos Montane and many others

  • Mario Lanza...the most magnificient ever!!!!!!! It gives me goosebumps!!! He sang with such emotion..passion...and power!!!!! :)) <3<3<3

  • Thank you for posting this song,it was my parents song. My mother was such a big Mario Lanza fan,and this was her favorite. A beautiful song sung by a wonderful singer. It brings back many happy memories to me of them whenever I hear it, and reminds me how much I miss them. Mamie & Jackie together forever.

  • This is so romantic! This is the only opera that I have loved since I was a child! This still turns me on!

  • Those of us senior americans miss the great voices and variety of artists and music we had. It was a golden era and we didn't realize it.

  • Beautiful! Such feeling. We are still listening to this beautiful song many years after it was recorded because it is the greatest! BB x

  • I am a heavy metal music fan of 60 years old, but the voice of this man has been one I have loved since I was about 6 or 7, wonderful voice singing wonderful songs

  • @purpledave100

    Love it )

  • A really beautiful voice - what magic is in it.

  • 6 people are so not in love, do not have a love and may not ever enjoy the beauty of having a love to be in love

  • This was one of my mum and dad's favourite song. They are now together and yesterday was their anniversary. This was and is an after thought to place on my facebook wall in the memory of two people that I truly loved so much and now miss as much. They are now sharing their lives together and forever once again. Missing you both lots. Michael Anthony Snaith

  • i like opera!

  • Ha ha haa so this is how our story ends is it no explination just goodbye mother told me that you was no good . I have to say you have made me grin a bit and played along so ta ta for now and Lanza was a great singer.

  • Can anyone doubt the voice and the feeling of Mario Lanza who went too soon.

  • What a voice! What a song!

  • He sings with drama, feeling, depth, warmth, love... each song is like a movie unfolding passionately... Kind of makes your soul dance and soar with little no effort whatsoever.... beautiful Mario!!!

  • I was sad when I read that he died so young (and when I read about what he died from), but I'm happy that we still have his recordings. I wasn't born during his time, but I discovered some of his recordings recently, and enjoyed them.

  • :) I love Mario Lanza! "Because You're Mine" is one of my favorite Lanza songs. I like to sing along with him.

  • I do not think that those who listen to Mario Lanza would stop appreciating his music because of how he treated his wife or for any other reason, he is one of the very best tenors I have ever heard. And I love Placido Domingo and the other two whose names I can't remember right now, but Mario Lanza is far beyond them when it comes to opera!! Which is what we are here for after all.

  • You should have done better research about mistreating his wife and bedded all his leading ladies. NOT TRUE. Yes, he did drink to excess and was tempermental on sets, at time, but when you're that public, these things do happen! I'm certain that his children would agree with my post rather than yours! And 5-6 months later, she died and I believe it was from a broken heart.

  • I like it.

  • what a voice! how would you all compare lanza to pavarotti

  • Such a great voice ...and so good looking! Great video!

  • Thanks so much - so many memories of my late parents! xxx

  • I saw mario lanza about 50 years ago in Newcastle city hall he was briliant I loved everything about him and when he left us I was devstated but he still lives on what a voice!!!!!!!!

  • He was great too bad he died when i was born 3 months sooner

talk about a good looking italian man i would of loved him but i understand why his wife died a short time after she loved him very much and he treated her like a queen. He was great

  • @karen2006p Sorry but freddie ie mario treated his wife apalingly bad hewas a drunk and a bully who bedded all his leading ladies . He used to drink until his skin took on a green tinge and would argue and let everyone down .He is my favourite singer but he was never this angel that people think.

  • @billy2rivers1 your so wrong!

  • @zufritto Sorry but iam right ,dont misunderstand me i love lanzas voice and think a lot about the man but he wasnt the angel that some people seem to think he was . He was a drunken thug at times ask anyone who knew him .i will never try to discredit his wonderful voice as iam not worthy of that .

  • @billy2rivers1

" He who is without sin cast the first stone."

I am sorry we are not so perfect as you. At the very least Mr. Lanza has brought, and will continue to bring great joy to the hearts of the world forever through the bearing of his musical soul and personality. What a Great legacy! God forgives......maybe you should too!

Go somewhere else and spew you venom and condescending diatribe. What a punk! Where is your contribution to mankind? Go crawl back under the rock you came from..

  • @Arythmnmaker1 What venom i love the bloke but call a spade a spade while you popsie have shown a lack of class by personally attacking me without having the facts .

  • @billy2rivers1

Did you personally know him? Did he personally offend you? Or are you just another jackass regurgitating BS? In this country, USA, we call that hearsay....or in other-words.....BS! And more importantly......is what purpose does it serve.....NONE Only to make you feel better in some distorted way. You are pitiful, you are a coward attacking the reputation of a dead man.

For what good reason? Get real.... Again I ask......what have you done?, your contribution to society

  • @Arythmnmaker Why did you as you seem to know more than me. I know that you seem to take pleasure in trying to make me look like a hater when iam not . Freddy would have laughed at a hater like you.

  • @billy2rivers1

Given that you are the... ONLY.....one posting and making derogatory remarks as to the character of Mr. Lanza, I believe it is you, who has convicted themselves as to being a hater. So in reference to your own chosen words, I am just " calling a spade a spade." No you are dead wrong....when I should see Mr. Lanza in heaven we shall shake hands and he will thank me for defending his name. He is gone, isn't that enough for you. Please be more considerate of his family's feelings.

  • @Arythmnmaker1 Ha haaa but you still dont know who my old pal freddy cocozza is do you kiss chase .

  • @Arythmnmaker1 Ha now i understand why you try and upset me . Sorry sweetness but iam not gay .Dont be upset lollipop you will find love one day .Do you know who freddy is yet cup cake.Hey loved the long words they made me shudder . Hey dont worry about gay thing we all still hate you as much.

  • @billy2rivers1

Go read, Beyond Success And Failure by Beecher; chap.11, it describes exactly as to the ' Why ' of your behavior here on this site; your verbal attacks on Mr. Lanza, for NO legitimate reason......other than envy and hatred and jealousy of his talents. You my friend are homosexual and your behavior exposes you as such due to your insistent need to denigrate and undermine the significant achievements of Mr. Lanza. You disguise your jealous contempt beneath your verbiage of praise.

  • Some have just looks...some a pleasant voice...others an engaging smile.

A precious few have these...but something else magical happens in front of a

motion picture camera. Some say it's charisma. Mario Lanza is one of those

with that special gift. That precious something was taken away from us much

too soon. Bravissimo, Mario. You live in our hearts forever!!

  • Because you're mine The brightest star I see Looks down, my love, and envies me Because you're mine, because you're mine Because you're mine The breeze that hurries by Becomes a melody and why? Because you're mine, because you're mine I only know for as long as I may live I'll only live for the kiss that you alone may give me And when we kiss That isn't thunder, dear It's only my poor heart you hear and its applause Because you're mine
  • wooooooow!! i've never heard of this kat b4. what an emotional song!! nooooo body even says words such as this anymore

  • They don't make men like him anymore...or even singers like this...UNFORTUNATELY!!!!

  • wow the great lanza, voice from heaven boy has GOD blessed us.

  • da brividi, grazie mario

  • Wow this is beautiful.

  • i'd like to hear him sing "The Loveliest Night of the Year", my favorite Mario Lanza's piece.

  • mario lanzo one of best singers of all time .this song i have two copys on 45s red vinyl.

  • Have our tastes changed? If there were another singer of the caliber of this guy who could act a little, would people still pay to see his movies?

  • Sounds 'fresh' today compared to the dull tired tunes we have to endure lately...

  • Perfection.

  • The greatest voice of the 20th century.

He's voice is fascinating, Indeed, he set a benchmark of singing technique. He inspired so many. He made singing his way looking easy. He sounds so naturally, although we know that he put a lot of work to bring his voice to this level. It is so said he left this world so early.

  • This is the best song ever, I always love this song. Its great. J

  • Nobody can touch the beauty of this gifted man. Too bad he died so long

  • I have to find a Mario Lanza....I think his intensity and passion would have matched perfectly with mine!..... swooooon <3

  • mi piace tuto di ario

  • Lanza's passionate voice was never matched. Whether opera or operetta, he put all of himself in every song. The orchestra and chorus were extraneous and intrusive in this one.

  • i like it. Lanza had a great voice

  • whenever old people find something old on the internet they tell stories about it

  • dont u have it on video_?[ they played on arts[music channel @

  • No matter who sings this in the future, this is THE definitive version of BYM. Even though ML hated the film, he sang so very well on this (studio) version. He will never be surpassed

  • Oh Yoni!

I grew up with this one on a little 45. Until both the old turntable and the 45 died, I played it every day. What a delight to hear Mario once more sing this delicious song.

    Thank you!

  • Mario as a teen I found the wonder in your voice.....

  • WOW!!!!OMG!!!!!! RIP Mario

  • Sammy Cahn wrote a beautiful lyric here for Mario to sing! Thank you! I loved it. Had not heard this song in years!!

  • love this song - - Mario- a singer that died too young.

  • oh mardio, i do amissa you, but not dose pompadours. riddance can be bella, no?

PS I am hovering on 72.

  • I love this song, brings back memories of my grandparents.. my grandfather used to sing it- along with many others! We had it played for my grandmother at her funeral to unite them back together where ever they are. Miss you both XX

  • Being a South Philly guy, I knew and liked Mario. There was a record shop on Snyder Ave. right off Broad St. that he frequented. I not only miss him, I miss that way of life ! All my teen yrs. were in the fifties. God bless you Mario !

  • I fell in love when I first heard your voice Mario! and now I'm happily married to your voice ! :)

  • I tried to sing that song ,imitate him when I was a kid. Still trying, i think i am getting worse. There will never be a talented singer like him. Watch for me on American Idol...Just kidding. So glad I can hear and see this whenever I get the urge which is often. This is in my favorites with "Someday".

  • This version is just... sweet...tender...warm.....soothing....at the same time, rejuvenating and thrilling!!

    Magic.

  • In 1952 I was in the merchant marine and each night while I was on look-out on the bow of the ship I would sing this song to the vast ocean. I was no Mario but for a few moments I was. Thanks Mario Lanza for leaving us with this beautiful music.

  • Kinda makes me wish I had been there to listen to you sing shipmate. I served in the Royal Navy for 10 years : ) maybe a few years after you left but thanks for the memory, this is a beautiful song, x

  • What a great story! I hope you still sing to this beautiful song.

  • Oh yes, my Mum too. Brings tears to my eyes every time. Would not have appreciated him if not for my Mum. Bit of culture along with Elvis and Cliff days!

  • So beautiful....This was played at many wedddings........

  • They THINK the love songs they write today are something, lol....They can't touch this song that Lanza made his very own! It's like comparing paper plates to fine bone china!

  • What they write today is a big rubbish with expiry date like the yoghurts ....Mario Lanza belongs to the eternity !!!

  • There is no substitute for quality. One of the best

  • What a voice. Thanks

  • omg I can not believe that I have just heard this man sing :(:( his lyrics are so inspiring and so deeply thought of that he had to be inlove while he wrote this! (Or who ever wrote this) I may be young but this music is timeless mario has truely captured my heart with his heroic ear pleasing voice.

  • I am Italian and all Italians must love Mario Lanza, Frank Sinatra and Joe Dimaggio. If you don't, you could be struck by lightening. hahaha

I feel that Lanza is the greatest tenor with Pavarotti right on his heels.

  • Not only the Italians but all people who love the good music shall have to love the singers you mentioned above . if i loved the art of singing is due to the Italian singers i used to listen to since i was a little girl ...Grande scuola !!

  • How lovely congrates to u both , hope u have many more years of love and tender moments xx .Ive been brought up listening to mario hes voice will allways touch my heart . Take care to u both :) xxx

  • Congratulations on your wonderful, successful marriage. I hope one day I fill find love like that, and I'm 22yrs old. I'm about the only guy I know who listens to Opera and enjoy's a good symphony(I'm not gay).

  • I love his voice, it goes deep inside my heart

  • My last post and this one are to AZo9ojo: cont...

" The largeness of that audience depends upon the quantity of personality you are able to put into your performance." Thanks to Yoni89 for your generosity to share!

" If you are magnetic, the world is yours."

  • he really is the greatest thanks for the compliment to my idol mario lanza

  • be cause he gave us all of him and we enjoyed him and left his markin our minds

  • Mr. Mario Lanza; incredible talent! Truly a musical legend with an unbeatable personality and charisma. No one will ever come close to capturing his diverse abilities. He set the benchmark, and paved the way for others to follow. Training your voice to his library of works will definitely develop a very secure technique you can depend on. Practicing to his clean diction provides foundation for power, brilliance, and ring. His music will always stand the test of time! God Bless him!

  • this is the best comment anyones ever posted in youtube thank you!

  • Thanks You!, for your love of Great music and especially of this Classic Masterpiece of the Musical Icon Mr. Lanza. My two year old grandson really enjoys getting on the computer, he loves this song, and listening to this piece over and over at least once daily. He loves all of Marios' other fantastic numbers as well. Here are a couple of classic maxims from the Singing Maestro Giovanni Battista Lamperti that portray Mr. Mario Lanza and his career explicitly, I believe.......cont..

  • My grandfather and I also listen to this song all the time

  • @Arythmnmaker1 Haa haa but you still have no idea about freddy do you and today ive been wed for 25 years with three off spring and nine grandkids . Wow how gays that .

  • @billy2rivers1

Well since I was not a personal friend of Mr. Lanza, I would call him Alfred.

Marriage and children do not prove anything.....don't hide behind that facade. Your a latent homosexual and you behavior proves it. Study the facts, there are millions of bi-sexual men in marriages and children. Unfortunately, for you, your impulsive desire to belittle and disparage the good name of Mr. Lanza indicates deep-rooted insecurity as to your own virility, your a backbiter.

  • @Arythmnmaker1 The fact that you haunt me proves that you love me and long to be with me thats why you listen to love songs and think of only me. Dont feel bad its ok i dont mind your outrages cupcake . Please read a few books about mario lanza though or watch his bio documentry on here . Now stop all this nastiness .

  • @billy2rivers1

Dear Mrs. Rivers...please go away now. My last post was 2 days ago. So it is you that is harassing me, and again is conclusive evidence of your homosexual tendencies. Don't you realize, that in your compulsive desire for attention through your foolish antics, it is exposing you for the fool you are.

And I believe you need to open the Bible and read it, then you might stop all your senseless attacks on Mr. Lanzas' character. Follow your own advice, " stop all the nastiness"

  • lovely singer

  • i love him... and i'm fifteen... he was born at the wrong time...

  • I think I am turning gay, musicals are sounding better - only joking!

    Charming singing by Lanza obviously.

Try Jussi Bjorling and have many arguments!

See The Pearl Fishers and stunning vocals are yours!

  • Mario Lanza, officieel: Alfred Arnold Cocozza (Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), 31 januari 1921 -- Rome (Italië), 7 oktober 1959

  • There was not a more beautiful sound ever to come out of a human throat as never was a more beautiful face that matched so perfectly with that supreme sound

  • the greatest singer ever really.....and his best part was with kathryn greyson the song "Be my love"

  • Unfortunatly, we have become a nation of NO taste. Greatest tenor of all.

  • Ja, what has the US turned into???? America produced who might prove to be the greatest tenor hands down...no...male singer hands down...since music began to be recorded. Oh but his own countrymen don't listen to him...they listen to their lame hip hop and pop "singers" who cannot hit 1% of the notes Lanza could...yes, I feel your agony...I've given up on the United States years ago.

  • His is the voice I remember from my youth. He died far too young...

  • fab...he was born too soon...Jan x

  • FANTASTIC

  • bring my tear down!!!

  • Truly magnificent! Thank you Yoni, for bring-ing back my youth.! MARIO LANZA will "OUTLIVE" them all.

  • Can't believe the small number of hits for one of the best recordings ever. Many thanks.

  • thanks for this treat!

  • youre welcome
