i had windows before for several years, it crushed several times. anything goes wrong had to reboot it over and over.

I dont have that kind of problem with mac. anything freezes i just "Force to Quit" and relaunch it and never paid a penny for plenty of i-softwares etc, (Except DVD decoder).

Why pay for a Mac" ? Well:

1. Apple is in the hardware business not the software business. If everyone stopped buying Macs and just built Hackintoshes, Apple would likely just stop producing OS X altogether (not enough margin in it for their tastes), and would become a consumer electronics company focused on iPhones, iPods and other gadgets.

2. I like the build quality of my MacBook. Why buy a BMW when you can own a Toyota for less $?

There's no difference from a C2D in a normal PC than a Mac. Also, learn to program before you try and bash me. OS X is built off of Unix source code with other layers implemented. That's like saying BSD isn't built from Unix, it clearly derived from Unix.

Also your second statement makes no sense. If you meant why do you need to patch OS X to put it on a regular PC? That's because Apple uses select hardware so there's not much driver diversity unlike a PC.

You could run Panther on the PC you have, but since it's not even supposed to be running on a PC, you cannot... OS X runs nicely on the older computers; but not that old WinVista1. You can't compare OS X and Windows. They're two completely different things. Yes, windows can run a lot more programs and it has a lot more programs and games because they own 90% of the market. Apple computers are used for professional film and music editing and NOT for gaming. If you want games and many programs (most of which don't work properly anyway) then get a windows pc. And no I'm not a "macnutter" and I use both a mac and a windows pc. Windows for gaming and mac for audio editing ;)

The HP is at a really high disadvantage because it's obviously better than an HP of the same year made.

Secondly, it looks like there's other stuff running at startup. I don't see anything on the mac at startup.

But even then, the Mac OS would Win. (Yes I have tried, 2 sata hd's, both HItachi's of the same size.)

Blaming a slow boot up on the PC manufacturer is really stupid when the PC owner and user is responsible for properly maintaing the PC. No other operating system that I know of has this problem. Covering up this problem that Windows has would actually make it a less realistic/fair comparison.

First of all, it isn't a fair competition. Log-in screen with a choice of which OS to load on the left. Mac OS is running on a PC (also not fair - PC's tend to be faster than the actual Mac hardware) - fair would be to test on exact same machine or test a true windows machine vs. a true mac machine.

the laptop on the right booted directly in mac os x without requiring user interaction.
