awesome I have a great telescope it has a big scope about 8 inchs my favorite object to look at is saturn still have not seen or found jupiter.I thing it comes out in the late summer not to sure
@BionicleStudios347 The amount of power is no indication of how well a scope is color corrected. Assuming you have a refractor, look at the front of the lense, if it's an APO or ED it should say so and you know you have a scope that is well corrected for color. If it says Achromat, then your scope is not color corrected unless you have an f ration of 12 or better. Not to worry tho, the guy in the video said you'll get false color, that's only in terms of the edges of bright objects. Ie fringing
@4illegalalien Depending on where you live, you could even see out of the Milky Way without a telescope! If you can get to very dark skies - far away from city lights - you can see the Andromeda Galaxy which is over 2 million light years away. Try it w/ binoculars, too. In the southern hemisphere you may see the Small and Large Magellanic clouds which are satellite galaxies to the Milky Way. A great program to try is Stellarium. It is free and it will show you what you can see in the night sky.
Heard there is some cool stars approaching us from the southern hemisphere, so with a cheap refracting telescope I should be able to see it from NYC? Even with the light pollution?
@wannabethug7 Let me answer your question, even a cheap telescope will collect more light and reveal more stars than your naked eye alone. You'll be amazed at how much more you can see even in light polluted NYC skies. I recommend a small Dobsonian however as it will give you the largest aperture for your buck. A refracting telescope is the most cost per inch of optics whereas a Dobsonian will provide you with greater aperture at less cost. The more aperture (light gathering ability) the better.
@nutwithatheory Much appreciated, ironically. Don't really want to spent buy something expensive just to search for something that's not there, but than again it's still nice to have if I get into star gazing and what not.
@pifexx ROFL! i'm an electrician you raging queer! XD... my mother opted to buy me a scope for xmas, I didnt ask her to... she is a very generous person because I am generous to her! i got her a DS for mothers day FFS! XD so yeh!
I am thinking of buying the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC 76mm NEWTONIAN TELESCOPE . It has a x175 OPT.MAGNIFICATION and a MAX MAGNIFICATION of x525 is this any good and what objects would i be able to view with it.
Thanks (sorry i am new to telescopes i have no idea which are the shit ones and the good ones.)
Advice to all. Join your local astronomical society. Don't just walk into a store and buy one on the advice of a salesman. Astronomers are a friendly bunch and they'll help you out. @ KenConLock. Yes you can. But if you video an object thro the scope it will be very hazy and dance about due to refraction. Take stills and overlay them. Join your local society or club. They are here to help you. And they will.
Are there any telescopes which allow you to connect them to your computer? I would like to put the magnified picture (in real time) that would normally be displayed through the eye piece on the the telescope onto my computer. So i would like to look through the telescope... on my computer. Possible?
Yes, through a reflecting telescope with a CCD camera attached. Real time video/pictures on your computer screen or on a memory card. you can even get one with a GPS so you can track photgraph and video satellites and other moving objects like the Space shuttle and the ISS.
How come in this video you talk about large magnifications, but in the other vids, with the same scope your advice for magnification is smaller. Did I miss a link? Or a trick?
hi i am also a beginner and am looking for a telescope myself. Aperature is the most important thing. The more aperature u have the more detail u will see in images and this really comes to play with nebula and galaxy deep space viewing. A good deep space reflector should be around 6 inches for good detail. If you just want to get a head start on planets the moon and even some close nebulae like the orion nebula 4.5 in is a good start. I am getting a Meade DS130 telescope with 5 inches for
some planetary nebula along with planets the moon and some other deep space objects. In a year or two ill prob upgrade to a 6 to 8 inch reflector for deeper space viewing. If u are on a tight budget 4.5 ionches for 200 bucks is a lot nicer than 6-8 inches for 400
@1stCAVMeserve For your first telescope, stay away from ebay scopes in general, there is a review of that scope on CloudyNights review site under the brand name Baytronix, not a good scope. Read some of the recommendations on CN and you can make a better decision on a first scope.
@YonOtto lol dont qworry my parents got me a telescope from sams club lol it was only 150 bucks and was a 4.5" reflector, boasted goto with a 2"focuser. All plastic hardware, goto sucks, and it has a built in barlow lense 1.25 inches whichj renders 2" eyepieces useless.
@YonOtto You should thank her for getting you anything, some people out there dont have parents and are not getting shit for xmass, so grow up, get a job and buy yourself a telescope that is not a piece of shit to keep you from complaining!

Schat I'm sick of losers who try to make their own little video web sites that don't even bloody work. Their so dumbass they can't even see the play button doesn't actually make the clip play. Thankfully there was this copy of it here on YouTube.
I broke part of the support arms on my german equatorial mount and could not after many phone calls and emails to celestron get the part i needed. Nice scope great optics but very poor after sales customer service. Solved the problem my self by making it out of wood. STAY CLEAR OF CELESTRON.
You don't need anything at all to see out of the milky way. The Andromeda galaxy is perfectly visible with the naked eye and it is outside the milky way. If you want a great view of it, you should use binoculars: 7x50 or 10x50 work best. you can get those for between $50 and $150.
which one makes the image upside down?. i had a telescope from the 60-70"s and i could see multiple line bands on jupiter and its spot but it was upside down when looking at land things.8(..
with the old scope compared to the new scope i just got i can barely see 2 bands on jupiter and no spot at all and the new scopes a zoom 20-60x60mm 2!. WTF.
I have always been fascinated in space and have always wanted to buy a telescope and require some info - please don't go down the " for a beginner" because i'm not thick and pretty sure i'll learn. what about the Orion xt6 or ? 8 spending around £350 which is prob around $580 ??
Great information but the only thing i disagree about the telescope recommended for deep-sky objects, lets say i only want to observe M31, M33 or the brightest members of the markian chain of galaxies an 80mm Refractor can be sufficient for that. 6 inchers and up are for more serious deep-sky observing, but i am not up to that level yet. Thanks!
Hi. the best and affordable scopes for deep-space objects i recommend is a 80mm or 90mm refractor or a 130mm-150mm Reflector. But a reflector should suit you more because they are cheaper than refractors and you have more aperture. If you live where there are dark skies i recommend a short-focus or if you live in light pollution i suggest you get a long-focus. Thanks for asking!
And you might want to get a new pc monitor mr.uploader because the one in this video out dated. I recommend a premium for better resolution.

You don't need anything at all to see out of the milky way. The Andromeda galaxy is perfectly visible with the naked eye and it is outside the milky way. If you want a great view of it, you should use binoculars: 7x50 or 10x50 work best. you can get those for between $50 and $150.

hi,
I have always been fascinated in space and have always wanted to buy a telescope and require some info - please don't go down the " for a beginner" because i'm not thick and pretty sure i'll learn. what about the Orion xt6 or ?
