hey...i have a senior which is making an air compressed engine car..so if you have any related topics and sites for help id be so thankfull....please contact me on m.hemady@hotmail.com
How did you do it? I'm wanting to build one and I need to know how, I hear you have to add a extra lobe to the cam or something So How would I go about doing that
@14omega28ok You got it! Get out the mig welder and a grinder. Blob weld opposite of the original lobes until it looks a little bigger then the other lobed and grind it to the same profile. Polish it smooth and put it back together. Should run on air!
Good luck with your steam project too. Keep in mind that most steam engines will run on compressed air just as well as steam which you can use as a test pressure!!
Air should be going in the sparkplug hole.Go to Pneumatic options (library) he has a huge site on air powered engines with about 30 yrs of experience. Good luck & don't be discouraged by negative people!!! ps; air powered car by Leroy Rogers
@Tinkrr1 right but then id have to have a timed valve running to the sparkplug hole, it was just easier to do it this way. Thanks for the site, it may come in handy for a future project. I want to make something steam powered next!
@666elcam yep u did put on a trike/car but u should put on a bycycle and add a air tank so there is no hose than it would be portable lol but still a cool car trike thing
How about attaching the drive shaft to an electric motor/altenater to produce free electric power for your stove, frog, TV, etc. like I did in line with a step-up transformer and breaker/disconnect devices?
If you look at that engine when it is set up for gasoline, the carburator goes into the engine on the port closest to the flywheel, and the air is going in the opposite port.
on my engine the exhaust port is threaded with a pipe thread. my other running gas tecumseh has the exhaust port on the same side which is the fly wheel side.
that would work perfect, i was thinking about using mine to power something also but then i was thinking about how much energy id be using running my air compressor more vs just using an electric motor.
well right now my compressor is regulated to 120psi, and that doesn't cause it to open. Even if it did all id have to do is find a stiffer valve spring.
i added lobes opposite to the origional lobes on the cam. basically changing the valve timing to 1:1. at peak rpm im running about 60-70psi. thanks for viewing

Could you please do a complete video on how to convert the 4 stroke engine to run on compressed air?

CAN YOU CONVERT A CAR ENGINE TO RUN ON COMPRESSED AIR ?
GULFCOASTCLEANENERGY 1 year ago
this would be a crazy steam engine haha

@666elcam Did you do a steam engine yet? I think a 2 stroke would be best for conversion.

umm u have a problom u got the air going in to the wrong hole its all backwards the intake should be were the exsast is
dragata1 1 year ago
@dragata1 every if you were right, when i switch them around the motor just runs backwards...
666elcam 1 year ago
@666elcam true but its better to run it the right way then the wrong way

did you custom make a new pattern for the cams? or is it more simple to make this? please respond

put back on mower or a go cart frame or does it not have the power
gaspowerrules 1 year ago
@gaspowerrules
not very powerful
i did put it on something, check out my other videos.

@gaspowerrules
on a propane tank filled to 120psi it went about 25feet. the engine uses way too much air to be practical.

Ya but im using electricity to compress the air to make the motor run.

I meant Frig not frog.

Why is the air going through the exhaust outlet?
GrandpaTD 2 years ago
i don't understand your question.

cool im gonna make one

how about make the piston lighter
thegreatkoua 2 years ago
if you have the piston at the top of the cillinder it will start without you spinning the flywheel
nibbler125 2 years ago
ya if you get it just right it will start right up.

I am doing this with a 5hp briggs, and I am going to put it on a old belt sander that needs a motor

hi 666elcam! in full power, how much hp? english sux :D
isoz0day 2 years ago
Im doing this to a 50cc moped engine!
it should run alot faster than this because it has a smaller piston
superfunnyman123 2 years ago
why waist a moped engine, just fint an olf whipper snipper . use the moped engine on a bike
theleakytaps 2 years ago
very nice but try timing it with a solinoid
Cchange4us 3 years ago
nah, the cam is cooler
666elcam 3 years ago
but when the pressure gets to high the valve intake valve will open

well right now my compressor is regulated to 120psi, and that doesn't cause it to open. Even if it did all id have to do is find a stiffer valve spring.
666elcam 3 years ago
oh ok becuase i tried this a while back and it opened at about 40 psi
Cchange4us 3 years ago
or just a stronger valve spring!

im to lazy to make 4 strokes run on air so i onlly do 2 strokes but this looks awsome
maybe ill try someday :)
GreeseMonkeyy 3 years ago
sorry i realized that after watching a few more videos on how to convert engines like that to run on air
nitrorcman108 3 years ago
no prob, you should try it! all it takes is a welder, grinder, a file and a good eye.
666elcam 3 years ago
ya i have the tools to do it im just looking for an old engine to do this project
thanks
