i just opened my first jackfruit and it was much much messier than this one...

the little pods of fruit were much less defined, as all of the inside was yellow.... and the part attached to the outside was like little tendrils... it was really fun experience!

@yogapradag I am from Mumbai, India where you get delicious jackfruits. In India you actually get two types of jackfruits, one for eating (called kapa literally meaning "cut") and one for cooking and preparing dishes (called barka). The one for eating has very well defined pods and is easy to cut. The barka one you cannot cut as you mentioned is much messier to cut, and used mostly in cooking or preparing delicacies. Next time make sure you get the right one, and it will be fun!!

Yes, stink, but is delicious!!!!....you can buy it in china market. Just eat the part is around the seed. Icecream is good too. I prefer natural one.... Enjoy it!!!!!!

So that is what I saw one time in an Indian part of New York. It looked like an Elephants trunk sitting on the ground and it was Jack Fruit.

You dont peel of a jackfruit. You slice it open.
