I have no reason to automatically disbelieve this translation. It is up to you to show how the phrase should be pronounced in Aramaic in another fashion.

Don't get me wrong I think the Bible is a great set of books, I have read them and I love the storytelling (which is why I like the OT better personally) but I just can't take them as truth, certainly not literally.

There is a video circulating that in the Bible, Luke 10:18, Jesus "said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning falling from heaven." Jesus would have spoken Aramaic, where lightning is "baraq", and heaven or "on high" is "bam-maw", with a connecting word "u" for "from".
So in total Jesus said Satan was "baraq u-bammaw". Sound familiar? Coincidence?

It was another YouTube video making reference to Strong's Hebrew Dictionary. I also checked in the Aramaic Lexicon and concordance (atourDOTcomTILDElexicon) and guess how "lightning" turned out? I have no reason to automatically disbelieve this translation. It is up to you to show how the phrase should be pronounced in Aramaic in another fashion.

But keep this in mind: you also have no reason to BELIEVE the translation either; and even if the words were to translate perfectly, it still wouldn't be proof of ANYTHING would it? Oh, and also, your supposition presupposes that a christian god exists and that christ was real, and neither of those has ever been proven. And lastly, all of this depends on the modern translation of a dead language and a bronze age book.

Why? If someone long ago said chocolate tastes like pickles, and "pickles" in his language translated to "John McCain", I would think that was ridiculous too, wouldn't you? And if you are really an atheist, what are you concerned about anyway? There is no "ultimate evil" in our belief, and lightening is just an atmospheric phenomenon. And even if the translation were flawless, what could anyone do about it? It still wouldn't prove anything; everybody has seen coincidences in life.
