HTM has always been a stuck up bastard. HTM was supposed to lose the IC title years ago at Summerslam to Macho Man, but he threw a fit and threatened to go to WCW, and so the WWF made that match end in a DQ... Macho was mad about it, so the WWF agreed to give him the WWF Title.. to do so meant they had to screw Ted DiBiase and end his title reign, and they did. That's why to this day, T. DiBiase won't speak to HTM, because his title reign got cut short because HTM is a whining lil bitch.
HTM is so full of crap it is impossible to believe anything that comes out of his mouth. Bret, Tom, & Jacques all say the same thing. Why HTM has to embelish with tales of how Tommy broke Jacques' jaw is so dumb. OH & BTW HTM can claim he didn't get bitchslapped, but let be realistic. A roided up Billington with actual ability vs HTM with limited wrestling ability. LOGIC dictates that Dyno made HTM whine like a baby.
I have a personally auto-graphed copy of Bret's book. I know it says in there, that it was Curt Henning messing with Dyno, and Dyno thought it was Jacques. I don't blame Jacques for punching Tom. I was referring to Lanny saying Jacques "kicked the living dogshit out of Tom". Simple fact is that it was a cheap-shot AND he had a roll of quarters. HTM needs to be quite. I have the great pleasure of working in an airport, so I have had lots of time to talk to pro wrestlers over a sandwich or a drink while they wait on their plane. I have been told lots of stories. 1 in particular is about how most of the boys backstage didnt like HTM, thought he was a bad "wrestler". Great talker, good charisma. Dyno smacked him so hard HTM started crying. HTM is just a guy who is no longer able to wrestle so he makes money stirring shit up with the media.

It's not that simple. He slapped him from behind to call him out for ribbing him (it didn't "preak his jaw"), and then it started a fight and Dynamite kicked his ass with a front face-lock. (In reality it was Perfect who was ribbing him.)
So then he bullied the R's after, and they waylaid him from around a corner.
The truth is that this type of shit was able to escalate, and Vince wouldn't do anything to stop it until after someone got seriously hurt.

No, they said in the interview that Dynamite broke Jacque's jaw when he hit him from behind in the poker-game; but Bret was there and it was an open-hand slap to the head that knocked him on his ass. Jacques just yelled at him and asked why he did that, and Dyno just turned it into a fight, and Dyno choked Jacques out. No broken jaw like Honky and Lanny say here.
It was Mr. Perfect behind the whole thing, however, he was pulling shit on Dyno, who thought Jacques did it.

Yep, they both ambushed him from around a corner backstage as Dyno was walking along, then they ran away and got on a plane for their 5-month wrestling tour overseas.
But Dyny was bullying them, and this was just show-biz not real fighting, so if Vince wouldn't put a stop to it then that's what will happen.
This wasn't bullying, Tom legitimately thought that Jacques was ribbing him from behind; so he finally got pissed and kicked his ass for it; and so it escalated, and Jacques used a weapon and really injured Tom. THEN Vince stepped in, and kept it from going any further.
But in reality it was Mr. Perfect doing the ribbing, and people got hurt for his practical jokes.
It's not just a story of someone standing up to a bully and that's it etc. like HTM WISHES it was.
A few people are taking Dynamite Kid's side in that fight, but, I have to admit, I have a hard time doing that. I did read Dynamite's book & yes, it is true that he said he slapped Honky Tonk Man so hard, Honky was crying, but that dosen't mean he was telling the truth. To the best of my knowledge, no one saw the incident & can verify that it happened.
@JasonL77 Also, in the Chris Benoit special on CNN, when his ex-wife said he held a shotgun to her head, he said he was joking around with her because the gun wasn't loaded. If that was taken out of context somehow, CNN did a hell of an editing job. By all acounts that I know of, Dynamite Kid was considered a great wrestler in the ring, but nothing but bully in the locker room.

Dyno, Bret, & even Jacques have all agreed on certain things in this story. 1. Dyno did bitchslap & make HTM cry.(for making a comment on Harley Race) 2. The rib was actually Curt Hennig (hindsight being 20/20) 3. Even with a fist wrapped around a roll of quarters Dyno didn't go down. Lost some teeth, but didn't go down.

I beleive that Dyno was a guy with a small man complex that bullied out of that. I also respect Jacques for standing up to him. I will however go on to say that I think the Dynamite Kid is one of the all time great in ring performers & from a A+ shooter & legit tough. I wouldn't be surprised that he made HTM cry for real.

Jacques revenge was entirely understandable, and even guys like Bret - who was very close to DK at the time - admitted that he had little sympathy. At the same time, sucker punching someone is not something to be proud of; especially when Jacques fled immediately and then hid behind Vince who threatened to screw DK out of money he owed him if he sought his own revenge. HTM is just a shit stirring liar who says one thing to someones face and another behind their backs.
Lanny is right, I saw the news special where Dynamite Kid was interviewed, and his life is truly a wreck! The once impressive physique is gone, he can barely speak now, and is in a wheel chair! I agree, karma got him!

@peterp21 Benoit was a fantastic wrestler and by all accounts a great human being until he decided to murder his children and himself. The double murder and suicide was so out of the norm for him that it came completely out of the blue and that is what caused such shock among fans. When I first heard the news I thought it was a terrible mix up of some kind.

They should induct not only Benoit but his wife and son into the Hall Of Fame to honor them and ensure that they are never forgotten and let future generations draw whatever lessons they can from their deaths instead of burying their memories. If you bury him you will also bury his wife's memory too because you can't mention her without mentioning how she died. Benoit took steroids but he also had numerous head injuries and who is to say that he didn't just snap? Just look at him when he won the WWE title. He hoisted his son up on his shoulders and celebrated in the ring. CONT.

There was never any accounts to my knowledge that he was anything but a loving family man who went out of his way to care for his son's disabilities. The cost of caring for a child who is disabled is huge. Benoit needed to wrestle to make the kind of money he needed to care for his kid and if the choice is taking a steroid to ensure your kid will be provided for wouldn't you do the same?

@21richkid Wrestling is a unique business, very closed and secretive (and corrupt) business, like a circus. They prefer to police themselves. And I guess fights are common, considering the size of these guys and the amount of politicking that goes on. I have no idea why Rougueau wasn't suspended, but maybe it was due to DK's reputation for being a bully and finally getting his comeuppance.

Why is this even relevant to the Poffo/Valentine match? Dynamite Kid was one of the greatest wrestler in history, and its sad what has happen to him, but I only saw what he did in the ring, not backstage. Dynamite was on the B shows as a tag team champion and was in the main event, so if he never drawed anything, why would Vince have put him and davey on the main event? And davey's skills were way below dynamites. When's the last time The Genius was on a main event? Read pure dynamite b4 you open your jowels, maybe then you'd have a clue.

No matter what Poffo says about Dynamite. People know who Dynamite is. They respect his ability and how he paved the way for many Wrestlers, his matches with Tiger Mask at MSG is still ahead of it's time!. Poffo has been living off his brother for years and now he has a few more seconds of fame as he cashes in on his Brothers death. @papillonaquatique I just don't understand how someone could berate a man in a wheelchair for doing what he had to do to make a living. Had he not taken the drugs he probably would've retired alot sooner. Fuck HTM, Lanny Poffo (the guy that can suck himself, look it up) and Jaques, Dynamite is top 5 greatest of all time in my eyes. @papillonaquatique Randy has been in classic bouts, he's a multiple time World Champion, he dragged great matches out of Hogan and Warrior, he had argubly the greatest match of all time with Steamboat at Mania 3 and is widley regarded as one of the all time greats by fans AND peers (A rare quality) Poffo achieved nothing. Sure he could do a moonsault but to claim he was better and present it as a fact is absolutley laughable! Please explain how he was better
@PureDynamiteKid I agree with all of your sentiments regarding Randy. He was indeed one of the greats if not the greatest of all time. However I feel that Lanny was a more talented wrestler in terms of his wrestling presentation. The way Lanny presents his wrestling skill and ability to the fans is unique and a style all its own in my opinion. I prefer the wrestling over the gimmicks which is why I prefer Lanny over Randy but I know this is a matter of preference.

@papillonaquatique When he started taking steroids they were legal, up until about 89 (?), he took what he had to get by. The man destroyed his body in matches in japan. And drugs? Even your beloved HTM talked about doing coke, hell 95% of the guys were doing drugs back then. He did what he had to do to get a paycheck, yeah it may have only lasted 15 or so years, but when people look back, he will be looked upon as one of the greatest, most innovative of all time. And he regrets nothing.

His bouts and matches with Tiger Mask in Japan and all around the world are the stuff of legend, and the matches are still lightyears ahead of their time. I have a personally auto-graphed copy of Bret's book. I know it says in there, that it was Curt Henning messing with Dyno, and Dyno thought it was Jacques. I don't blame Jacques for punching Tom. I have been told lots of stories. 1 in particular is about how most of the boys backstage didnt like HTM, thought he was a bad "wrestler". Great talker, good charisma. It's not that simple. He slapped him from behind to call him out for ribbing him (it didn't "preak his jaw"), and then it started a fight and Dynamite kicked his ass with a front face-lock. (In reality it was Perfect who was ribbing him.)
So then he bullied the R's after, and they waylaid him from around a corner.
The truth is that this type of shit was able to escalate, and Vince wouldn't do anything to stop it until after someone got seriously hurt.

If that was taken out of context somehow, CNN did a hell of an editing job. And I guess fights are common, considering the size of these guys and the amount of politicking that goes on. I have no idea why Rougueau wasn't suspended, but maybe it was due to DK's reputation for being a bully and finally getting his comeuppance.

They respect his ability and how he paved the way for many Wrestlers, his matches with Tiger Mask at MSG is still ahead of it's time!. Both of them had more talent in their little toes than Hogan has in his whole body but that is a different conversation altogether. However I feel that Lanny was a more talented wrestler in terms of his wrestling presentation. The way Lanny presents his wrestling skill and ability to the fans is unique and a style all its own in my opinion. I prefer the wrestling over the gimmicks which is why I prefer Lanny over Randy but I know this is a matter of preference.

@papillonaquatique When he started taking steroids they were legal, up until about 89 (?), he took what he had to get by. The man destroyed his body in matches in japan. And drugs? Even your beloved HTM talked about doing coke, hell 95% of the guys were doing drugs back then. He did what he had to do to get a paycheck, yeah it may have only lasted 15 or so years, but when people look back, he will be looked upon as one of the greatest, most innovative of all time. And he regrets nothing.

I also agree with Dynamite Kid being tough in a big man's world especially wrestling cause he was only 5ft 8inches. And you know how the promoters, especially in the 80's, loved big burly men and hated all the smaller wrestlers. So good for Dynamite for being tough as nails. Besides he won multiple titles in England, Japan, and Canada, plus the WWF, which is more than these two washed up has-beens could ever hope to accomplish. All the haters can blow it out their ass.

I dont give a damn what they say about Dynamite Kid, he is still a better wrestler than all of them combined. His bouts and matches with Tiger Mask in Japan and all around the world are the stuff of legend, and the matches are still lightyears ahead of their time. Dynamite Kid accomplished more in his career than the Honky Tonk Man and Leaping Lanny Poffo aka "The Genious" ever did by just having those matches with Tiger Mask and with Bret Hart in Canada.

Honky is full of shit, i've seen several shoots where its been sais Honky virtually pissed his pants when Dyno took exception to something Tonk said about Harley Race. The UK is home to a rich sense of history and archetectural culture and appreciation that is lacking in most places here in the States.
