No one butchered the song, it s called taking the higher part mostly. It s vet difficult for both women and men to sing lead in the same key and since they all tool a turn some singers have to jump to a higher register to be able to sing that section. Travis tritt sings like that all the time. Eye brow guy was Hal ketchum and Martina didn't screw up at all. Much as I love Dolly -- and I certainly do! -- it would have been a nice touch if Carlene Carter had been the one to lead off "Let the Circle be Unbroken", since she is a descendant of the Carter Family.
@ wksufreshair-Thanx so much! I used to have this on a VCR tape and would watch it while getting dressed for work. One day it got taped over:( Been looking for it for 14 years!!
@ maruku86- I think I speak for everyone when I say- RU ON CRACK??!! They're all legends:)
@utubegman1 For me, the real legends are not heard singing here, just seen in the background (except for Dolly of course) - Jean Shepard, Wilma Lee & Carol Lee Cooper, Jan Howard etc :)
Who exactly are some of the god-awful people totally butchering this song? For example the lady in blue and the eyebrow man, what the heck are they up to?
Thank God for Dolly! Would love it if she records this sometime! :)
Who is the woman in the red spotted dress at 2:58?

The "lady in blue" as you put it is Martina McBride. One of Country music's best. I wish I could sing like that! That stage is full of great talent.

Really? I should've recognized her...
I have nothing to complain on with the other songs I've heard with her, but her perfomance here is just so over the top and out of place...
Nothing against her singing, I just don't think classics like these needs vocal flourishes and embellishments.
