@cichmugs I've guided a lot of hunters. One of their biggest concerns is "where does the meat go?" When I guided in Alaska the outfitter took the meat and gave it out all over town. The hunter took the other half of the moose home. One of the oldest traditions, sharing the harvest. Your right, killing for fins, ivory or things that are material is wrong, eat the whole animal. Did you know it is illegal to leave edible portions of meat in the woods?
@cichmugs cichmugs If it wasn't for hunters that are conservationists, we wouldn't have the todays National Forests, National Wildlife Refuges, or National Parks. Teddy Roosevelt is the best example of a hunter that is a conservationist. Groups like FNAWS, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Mule Deer Initiaitive are all hunting groups that volunteer many hours for the animals they love.
I would disagree with your saying "most hunters just like to kill animals for trophies". Most hunters I know are the opposite, they harvest legitimate animal species and consume them properly. Deer, without any natural enemies, are growing in numbers too many to allow the land to support them. The herds must be culled to proper numbers and the meat sent to the needy that can most use it. This is a excellent, non-wasteful use of renewable natural resources. By the way, I do not hunt.

Polar Bears only weigh 1500 lbs when theyre fattened up for the winter. They're very slow and lazy then. A 700 lbs lean summer polar bear would stand a better chance against a wolf pack than a lazy fat winter bear.
It doesn't matter what the variable weight of a polar bear is at any season. No pack of wolves would dare take on a male/female polar bear at ANY time. Most animal experts agree that the most powerful and dangerous land animal is the Polar Bear... hands down. Grizzlies are cousins of the Polar bear, but Grizzlies don't swim in sub-freezing water for 50 miles looking for food. If a Polar bear attacks you, you're dead. Period. Two male lions would die quickly if they attacked a Polar Bear.
I disagree, and i'm an animal expert. Crocodiles, buffalo, hippos, elephants just to name a few are all much more dangerous. Having worked around Polar Bears I can tell you they're relatively docile, although they are unpredictable. A pack of large healthy wolves would not have a problem attacking and killing a sickly polar bear bear.

@cichmugs I've guided a lot of hunters. One of their biggest concerns is "where does the meat go?" When I guided in Alaska the outfitter took the meat and gave it out all over town. The hunter took the other half of the moose home. One of the oldest traditions, sharing the harvest. Your right, killing for fins, ivory or things that are material is wrong, eat the whole animal. Did you know it is illegal to leave edible portions of meat in the woods?

@cichmugs cichmugs If it wasn't for hunters that are conservationists, we wouldn't have the todays National Forests, National Wildlife Refuges, or National Parks. Teddy Roosevelt is the best example of a hunter that is a conservationist. Groups like FNAWS, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Mule Deer Initiaitive are all hunting groups that volunteer many hours for the animals they love.

I would disagree with your saying "most hunters just like to kill animals for trophies". Most hunters I know are the opposite, they harvest legitimate animal species and consume them properly. Deer, without any natural enemies, are growing in numbers too many to allow the land to support them. The herds must be culled to proper numbers and the meat sent to the needy that can most use it. This is a excellent, non-wasteful use of renewable natural resources. By the way, I do not hunt.

Toolmaking is our ability to augment our own prowess, and a 40 pound dog is actually not much of a challenge for a fully grown human, male or female. It doesn't matter what the variable weight of a polar bear is at any season. No pack of wolves would dare take on a male/female polar bear at ANY time. Most animal experts agree that the most powerful and dangerous land animal is the Polar Bear... hands down. Grizzlies are cousins of the Polar bear, but Grizzlies don't swim in sub-freezing water for 50 miles looking for food. If a Polar bear attacks you, you're dead. Period. Two male lions would die quickly if they attacked a Polar Bear.

I disagree, and i'm an animal expert. Crocodiles, buffalo, hippos, elephants just to name a few are all much more dangerous. Having worked around Polar Bears I can tell you they're relatively docile, although they are unpredictable. A pack of large healthy wolves would not have a problem attacking and killing a sickly polar bear bear.

@gdogau Polar Bear would never attack a pack of wolves either. Polar Bears are very very passive. Its widely documented that 1200 lbs Polar Bears will run away from 500 lbs Grizzly Bears. Its all about aggression.
