I don't see why people think this scene was so disturbing. It's an insect. Every time you walk on grass you kill hundreds, maybe thousands of them. If you've ever walked on grass in your life, you can't be shocked by someone killing a single spider in a movie.

i have too had telekenetic powers but they wore off i was doing cave diving in a remote location in the amazon as i was in this large cave under the water one part of the cave was glowing bright orange like a foggy smoke but as i brushed passed it it must have abzorbed in to my skin next thing you now i surface head starts hurting i get a urge to just sit was getting cold wanted to stare at something nex thing i new i ended up tipping over a few soda cans when i was done my body was cold andnumb

That spider scene is of course a subtle shot at the amazing spider-man. Finding the glowing alien artifact familiar from Green Lantern's first encounter with the power ring. The metal crushing scenes are tributes to the master of magnetism. Learning how to fly taken from Superman who also had a clumsy start. The good to bad transition reminiscent of the Dark Phoenix. Lastly, surviving hero who flees his homeland due to a death in the family to train and learn to control his emotions....Batman.
