@ISWolf it also depends on wether or not Shirou ever met Zouken after UBW. He still has the contract with Rin and all in that route, and if worst came to worst with Matou Zouken trying anything, Shirou could EASILY destroy him with his Reality Marble.

Shirou would simply need to give Rin his command spells and hand her over to her after destroying the grail. So a "better" ending would be Saber being able to live out a "new" life with Shirou, before returning to her time. Of course, that ending kind of misses the whole point of the Fate route... Saber accepting her choices and her death.

Maybe I missed something here, but are you saying that in the story, whenever the holy grail comes around, everyone gets super amounts of mana and summon servants, and when the grail goes away, they lose all their massive mana reserves and the servants vanish? I was under the impression that the spell casters had the huge mana reserves and they were fighting over who would GET the super duper holy grail mana sandwich.
Yes, except the mana reverse part, since the Grail never gave anyone any boost in prana reverse, so no one is losing anything. the Grail only help with summoning, controlling the Servant and give the Masters 3 miracles in the form of the command mantras.
Caster cast her huge spells using the prana she drained from everyone in the city, not from the Grail.
The Grail is also more than a prana collecting wish granting machine.

Fate Stay Night is really complex if you take a good long look at it. The truth is all the pairings in the game work. Shirou with Saber, Rin, or even Sakura is good. In regards to Saber being a servant, what is different about a servant from a mortal being? They live and die just like mortals do, though when they die they leave no body behind. As long as the caster doesn't use up his symbol the servant can remain as long as the caster wishes.
well not really, cuz servants take up massive amounts of mana...it's only possible for them to exist because of the power of the grail. except Rider's case at the end of heavens feel, but that's because Sakura generates monstrous amounts of mana because of Angra Manyu and whatnot...so she doesn't need to worry about not having enough to sustain Rider...
No, Rin can maintain Saber as well in the Good End of UBW. If someone has the enormous amount of mana such as Rin or Aoko can sustain a servant if they want to.

No, Archer is a different from Shirou, his personality is completely different. Okay, Archer might be the future Shirou, but he really isn't like Shirou at all. Also Servants are more like copies of the original, and they are removed from the cycle of reincarnation, so in a sense they're like robots programmed to be someone else who died.
Actually, Archer shares several traits with Shirou. Both value life and are pacifists by nature - only Archer has less qualms taking a life. Both care profoundly for Saber, Rin and Ilya, as evidenced by how Archer responds to each of them in his own way.
The only difference between the two is that Archer is a broken man. He hides his true sadness in regards to having lost Ilya and Saber in his own lifetime, and nobody knows what happened to Rin for that matter, but it shows at times in the VN.
Archer is the same as Shirou, it just that, he experienced what will happen to him, if he continues to be a ,,superhero,, And yes Archer cares for Rin, Saber or Ilya. And in HF he forgives Shirou, cuz he chooses to live for Sakuras sake-and the ones he loves-not for everyone. I think thats why Archer does what he does there :)
