Aikido at its best is fantastic and well worth taking up but the problem is finding a good school with a decent instructor who is open minded and not ego manic and full of his own self importance, which seems to have plagued the Martial Arts for years.
The true meaning behind Aikido techniques is not so easy to interpret just by watching, there is no replacement for good instruction and practice. All Martial arts need to be applied for self defence, and nothing in any Do Jo can truly mimic real life.
