  • Now, eeh... You know, sorta, like... That, uhm... Kinda sucks? :l

  • hi kren da reput la...aku pun keje kat port..

  • obviously its not faulty cable cause the cable helped bring it down. I agree with the snag affect.

guys standing there "Man I wish that !@#$% crane operator would just follow my signal"

this is why we need one certification globally. so everyone is doing it the same way hopefully the safe way.

the safest way is the way with the lowest risk involved.

so what if it creates three more job positions for each contractor. in the long run the risks out weigh the cost potential.

  • Geez, what was in that sea container, Rosie O'Donnel?

  • For the record this was a movie stunt. Its a remake of 'On the waterfront' staring Vin Diesel. Nobody was hurt. Opening in select theaters this fall.

  • @jamesandrew2000 Dude, where's your sources? VD is not working on such a film. The closest we get is his praise for the 1954 Marlon Brando film. Second: destructible sets. This kind of wholesale destruction is not usually seen in films because... well, you're breaking it. That's expensive. Miniatures, like the ones used in Terminator 2 are much cheaper to destroy and look just as good. Or, you can go CGI. Pull the other one, pal, this was a genuine accident.

  • @BlackAeronaut Dude, where's your brain? The next video you see that is obviously real, and some guy makes a comment about how fake it is, that person is most likely fucking around. Also, mentioning Vin Diesel or Chuck Norris is usually the clue.

  • @jamesandrew2000 Sorry. I wasn't aware that Vin Diesel was the new Chuck Norris. I shall have to polish up on my pop culture. You young whippersnappers are so savvy.

  • what kind of a crane is that it cant even lift one container so how would they unload the rest

  • Good Day

I would not be surprised that the equipment was being operated much time past it's safety inspection. In my province, crane cables are only to be used for "X many lifts"..(forgot whether it's 100 hours, or lifts) and cabling MUST be replaced..the whole spool. Hinge pins have so many months life.. TOO MANY companies say "We'll replace it"...later...just do this "one more job"...one more day"..."We can't afford it", bullshit... So many men die on the job! To save money by no safety!!!

  • @RetroCaptain crane cables used for 100 hours or lifts? Not likely as a good operator can acheive 30+ lifts an hour wether it be twin 20's or a single 40 footer.

  • @hammy144

I'm not aware of the correct time limit placed on safe cable use,..esp in ship loading cranes. My knowledge of cable use limits relates to 1950's-60's truck mounted "wrecking ball" style of crane.

I guess what I'd like viewers to understand, if they don't, is that load-lifting devices require routine inspections,..the hinge pins, bearings,..cables etc have to be replaced before their "useful life" has passed, to increase safety.

  • why was this stupid ship moving? - donkeys!!!

  • That's some pretty impressive timing on the part of the videographer.

  • I agree. It seems like one of the locking cones was still locked so the crane should have shut down once it sense a "snag load condition". That prevents the crane from lifting more than its capable of. All cranes have them. The operator clearly ignored the guys on the ship, you can see them waving to stop. Why were'nt they in direct contact with him on a radio? The boom tip should'nt of broke off either, I heard the operator and a hatch boss died...

  • ship is far too heavy for the crane to lift, needs 2 of them thick cunts

  • Was that the driver's cab dropping at 00:26

  • Hopefully no one was underneath that.

  • Agree

  • Was the crane operator in the wreckage that fell?

  • the load was landed on an angle and one side was on the ground b4 the other so when there was too much weight on one cable it snapped and took the end of the boom with it

  • why the hell didn't the crane have an overload detection and stop the lift????

  • Someone wasn't doing his job, a deck pin was locked at one corner.... the operator should have realized it was still locked up. Slight pick is all you need to tell. Looks to me like the operator thought he could snap it free and it cost him. You can always feel it when you go to make the pick if it's locked up

  • what the hell were they thinking

  • Shouldn't the SLI make loud noises before it gets that far?

  • looked like the hatch covers may have still been dogged on one side....if it had been the box the pins would have gave first....slight lift would have told the operator that......no reason for that to have happened....hatchman should have unlocked whichever it was and it wouldn't have happened

  • It wasn't the hatch covers; he's working in cells. Maybe 20' cells and he got caught up at the top of the guides?

  • was he trying to pic the ship up are the box haha.

  • he tried to pick up the boat?

  • ouch

  • Den Turm mal bitte...

  • im a union member crane driver/ dogman and this only happens when the person slinging the load does not know what they're doing and the operator is a cowboy and either goes off chart of falsely believes a load is larger than it is and gets caught undone...

  • Were they actually Scabs? or just Rats? Was the real operators on strike or was it a Rat operation?

  • wow ure a crane driver huh? i think the term is operator and my question is how come the operator didnt ease into it to test the load also theres no walkie talkie communiction it seems from the looks of the deck hands flapping there arms

  • wow ure a crane driver huh? i think the term is operator and my question is how come the operator didnt ease into it to test the load also theres no walkie talkie communiction it seems from the looks of the deck hands flapping there arms

  • You give the union a bad name.

  • glad i wasnt the deckhand there.someone didnt unlock the grounders.

  • always float the load

  • well those two are goners.

  • was he lifting a box still attached to the deck? the right side seemed to be...or it was a LOT heavier than it should have been...

  • Hope those guys were fast at 0:24

  • Well spotted..it looks like they clear...I hate going near cranes now....

  • oops!

  • he is looking at the container - not the ship and water line

  • AHAHHHAAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAH thanks!!!!

  • did that dumb crane driver not see he was lfting the ship too, heheheheheh

  • what a fucking wanker "you are dumb cranedriver".. im a crane driver and you try to release boxes that are slightly caught or they lift too high before you realise so try and drive a crane before you comment asshole

  • damn

  • did they make it?

  • DAYUM!!
