There is ONLY one cause of the CW. It was SECESSION! When SC left the union and 6 other states followed, then Lincoln put out a call of 75,000 volunteers to put down the rebellion 4 more states promply left the union. That's it. It wasnt slavery or state rights or anything else. Secession was the cause of the Civil War.

I think slavery is horrible but the civil war was about Taxes and 10th amendment rights. the south was getting rid of slavery anyway because it underminded the working class they just couldnt do it all at once because the southern economy was completely dependent unforutatly on slaves.

Wats wrong is that they wanted to prpotect their rights to slavery. Now if u don't blieve Slavery was the main issue, I suggest u read the Cornerstone Speech in 1861 by A Stephens VP of the Confederacy In paragraph 9. He says and I quote " salvery is the immediate reason why we secceding and of our revolution" I.E the main reason. He then go on explaining how blacks arean inferior race.

@MrDpsummers In case u didn' know the North was about to abolish Slavery in the whole Union and it just unacceptable for the south. Then in 1865 these same frustrated veterans created the KKK to reaffirm their white supremacy, and started terrorizing black ppl and even republicans against slavery

One last Fact: 550000 veterans enrolled in the kkk, the population of the Confederacy was 9million ppl @ that time there4 the kkk veterans represented about 6%of the population amazing when u know that today our army forces represent only 4/1000 of our population natiowide

@riksw2 The Draft was and is immoral as it uses force to achieve its ends. Take note of your history as to which US Presidents used the Draft. Slavery in economic terms is self-defeating as you can read the North had no slavery but economically outpaced the South which had slavery. Slaves will only work as hard as they need to avoid punishment. That's why Capitalism works so well.... too bad the United States gave up on Capitalism 100+ years ago and regulated it to death.

The man from the NAACP is wrong as to the primary reason the Civil War started but slavery is immoral as the use of force is immoral...... so forcing Virginia to remain part of the Union via force is immoral as well.
