@1182061: It's hard whether or not to say if Silent Hill: Homecoming should really be considered as Silent Hill 5 or not. As for being the fifth installment of the series it would then be Silent Hill 7. The fifth installment was Silent Hill 4: The Room.

They abandoned putting a number after Silent Hill once Team Silent left.

Yep. Resident evil has great gameplay for the price of a storyline that's been used a million times. Silent Hill, thus far, has sacrificed combat mechanics (which can be excused due to the lack of weapons experience of the characters) for stories that can rival films such as Jacob's Ladder. Therefore I easily take Silent Hill.

Oh, yeah, definitely. While Team Silent based the game off of several horror and thriller movies, Jacob's Ladder was pretty much the root of it.

There have been references to the film as well, like the Bergen Street Station in Silent Hill 3 and even James' transition to the Otherworld in the hospital in Silent Hill 2 could be a reference to the Hospital scene in Ladder.

So was I. If you want a real Silent Hill experience in a movie form, find Jacob's Ladder. I swear you won't be disappointed. That movie was one of the big inspirations for the Silent Hill series. Basically, if Jacob's Ladder didn't exist, Silent Hill wouldn't either.

Hey dude! Just so you know- The original Resident Evil game is my favourite game of all time! That's why I bought a PS1. But you can't say the series has continued along the same path! The game was about zombies! Not the village people! I'm just a little disappointed that the zombies have gone, and there doesn't seem to be that "fear factor" anymore. It's more action based now. It's all good though dude! I'll still buy RS5! I just wish it was still zombies.
