Wow, That is some crazy, throw it down with the devil at the crossroads and blow his his ass away kinda axe playing. 18 thumbs up! Like fine whiskey, this guy just gets better with age. Saw him open for Nugent back in '79. LOL....Now? Nugent wouldn't be fit to wash this guy's feet.
thankyou linda harris ,i saw marino 5 times in texas,i lost count of the years,so long ago,its amazing how far he has advanced in his playing,a true guitar ledgend, thanks for the videos, new DVD on the way, hell ya !!!
Since I was a kid Frank has always been one of the best ! even today he still is in my opinion one of of best guitar players to play not only Hendrix, Jazz Rock, Blues, and his own style, and I say that because when you hear him you know it !
The 3 that hit the 'Thumbs Down' have got to be completely oblivious about the instrument called a guitar and the magical fingers as like Frank's that make it squeal so beautifully it makes your eyeballs pretty much roll back into your head....
Frank has been underrated his whole career...Uli Roth is another.....
Can anybody tell me what Frank is playing from 4.39 - 4.57. It sounds so jazzy and I dont seem to be able to replicate it when playing blues myself. Does he go into a particular scale or is it pure improvisation? It's been bugging me for 26 years ever since I heard him on an album called 'Guitar Wars'.
I saw FM&MH back in 1980 or 81 on a tour called The Rock and Roll Marathon. Axe, Angel, Humble Pie and Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. What a great night for a teenage guitar aspirant! $5.00 for the show, $5. 00 for the shirt and a lifetime of memory all in one package.
I saw Frank quite a few times back in the day, Winterland, Day on the Green... The last time I saw him was probably '84 or so at Leon's Route 66, a tiny club in Burlingame Ca. There were maybe 20 people in the bar. It was ridiculous. I became interested in Malmsteen and the whole Neo-Classical thing and kinda forgot about my former hero. I hear Frank's playing here has evolved. That's good. Good for him. One of the greats, no doubt.
well......., can i follow? no. can I play? yes. can i aspire? yes, can I achieve? only with time.....................
holy craaappppp, what a monument to guitar playing.......to take king bee and make it your own.. what a pleasure.. too bad it isn't the whole thing.....

I first heard Frank & Mahogany Rush in the mid 70's. I joined a record club & one of the records I got was Child Of The Novelty. Been a fan ever since.
this aint shit - i heard Frank play Johnny B. Goode in Oakand ,Califuckinfornia in - what - '75 or '76 - ummm - some haze there - shit -some guy named Sam Hagar was the opening act - there was some other bands there too - a guy named Beck - umm - I think he was from Britain - and then there was a band from Detroit? J Guiels or someting' like that - and Blue Oyster Cult - lotta cowbell - hell - I even got laid after that one - her name was Rose
Might have been CJ2,....I think I was there,...hell if I can remember,...thought I heard some Aerosmith and Nugent there too! And Santana,...and it was in Ontario, CA,....nope,...must have been a different concert! Hazy days those were,...
Good shit Wade! I was there too. Not during the laying!! ---Then in '79 in SMOAKland @ Day on the Green#3 Monsters of ROCK...pouring rain as Frank opened...followed by AC/DC with BON SCOTT !!!!!...followed by an overloaded Steven Tyler and Aerosmith (Joe Perry was pissed!) Then the headliner??? Ted Nugent..............
Needless to say.....Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush stole the show...I didn't get laid : (
yea only one, and i got it from a friend. I think if it wasn't for Frank, I prob. wouldn't have picked up the Guitar.Him along with the other Greats( Hendrix,Page,S.R.V,Beck and the list goes on.
8-tracks were great! Didn't have to keep flippin' the vinyl and reminding friends that LP's were NOT beer coasters!! Yikes,...starting to sound as old as dirt!
if you call harmonics and playing by the bridge effects, then sure he uses those in the last couple of minutes... but using an instrument to its full potential is the mark of a good musician, not a hack.
The first time I saw Frank play was in Cleveland ,Oh. at the Public Hall. He was kickin' his guitar around the stage. After that life wasn't the same.
used to see thig guy back in the day down in houston...amazing guitar player----saw him in towson, maryland last year and it was a three hour show---it felt like an hour because he was so fucking astounding!!! great to see you on the road again mr.marino...keep rocking dude!!!
Saw Frank and his band in 1977 at concert in Castlberry Fl. I was only 16. It was my first of many rock concerts in the 70s. He was the lead band for Sammy Haggar and Nazareth. What a concert. Very loud! To say he left a lasting impression is an understatement. I remember almost every song they played and not much from the other bands. Simply put, his talent was by far the best that I can remember and I witnessed some amazing concerts back then( Nugent, Boston, AC/DC, Frampton etc.)
Soooooooooo good saw him in Toronto a few weeks back the guy is a freak. As a musician - and no I'm not a guitar player - and it was one of those jaw dropping once in a lifetime, this guy can't be this good moments. Shaking my head in amazement, truly frightening it was. On all levels - tone, feel, skill, control, dynamics, just everything flawless. Hats off Frank, and thanks.

Just wanted to say thanks for putting the video on here. I was at this show, it brings back some great memories. Frank has always been one of my favorite musicians and should go down in infamy as one of the best guitarist ever.
Mad at my guitar player who ive known since i was 11 and he never turned me on to this guy unitl 3or4 years ago. Frank is amazing and younger kids need to listen to this instead of the bullshit they do. im only 25 and i know music aint as good as it used to be
I don,t think Frank has the recognition in Great Britain that he richly deserves. He is a very fine Blues guitarist-perhaps he got a bit lost (along with Gary Moore)in the 80s.I didn,t know until today that he plays a GibsonSG as well-mine is called Marlene-he has good taste!
i want to thank all the TRUE fans of FRANK that have posted comments on my vids! lets face it- we are here for him and he is ALWAYS THERE FOR US! take care all.... and always... always.. remember to- ROCK ON!!! RUSS.
I heard Frank's amazing version of King Bee first on the album California Jam2 - that was a faster version plus the sound system they used then was primo too!

When, pray tell, will Frank ever learn that he doesn't need all those friggin' guitar effects to prove that he's a good guitarist.
In this piece, he proves this in spades, but then, he goes into an ego trip full of effects which do nothing but distort his talent.
Lose the pedals Frank. Just plug in that SG straight into the amp will ya?
