@perfusus Even though kids can and do have sex at the age the US doesn't encourage it, as they shouldn't. What 13 year old can raise a family, let alone pass their next math test?

If a child (not even speaking about some adults) can't deal with the consequences of sex at a young age (std's, social outcasting due to unplanned pregnancy, possible birth defects due to a underdeveloped body, the rest of your childhood is gone...) then they should not do it until they can.

It's the job of the parents to teach their children right from wrong. The country has no right to impose it's rules on everything they don't agree upon, after all they are also human with ideals and morals most of witch twisted by time and experience.

@perfusus Yes I understand. But its difficult to raise a child when the world around them promotes the opposite. I believe the whole reason for the classification of movies is to help parents, (hence parental guidance suggested). This set of rules is not about a complicated and subjective issue like healthcare, its about providing the next generation with certain restrictions to help enable them to lead better lives.Movie regulation and classification is not "everything"

@WhenBlueFades This is one of the most refreshing discussions I've had in months, now back to the topic. Most parents from my country don't even know what that little number at the bottom means and they most of the time let their kids watch whatever they want just to keep them occupied with something. It's my believe that we should educate our kids about the things they might hear or see in the future so that they may know in advance what they are and how it's appropriate for them to react.

Problem is that people tend to add things to these "lists" but after that they don't take any action. There are two simple techniques for the parents to use in such situations:

- Sit and watch the movie with your kid while holding the remote ready to turn off the TV if something happens.

- Watch the movie before you give it to your kid.

Anyway i think that after the age of 14 it doesn't really matter what your kid sees because by then he's probably seen it all.

Thirty minutes, that's harsh. When i was around your age (I'm thinking you're between 8 and 10) i watched like 5 to 6 hours every day, at 12 i could recite every Cartoon Network show they had back then, in fact my "mad" skills at English are mainly because the programs that i watched were in English witch is not the language i speak. Anyway what I'm trying to say is that i educated myself and it was good for me, better than playing outside where you can get hurt, kidnapped or worse.
