i did about 8or9 yrs ago in Newcastle Mayfair Bruce Foxton was on bass . what a sound it was awsome .they where as good then as they where in the late 70's .
Holy moly, I think I'm in menopause and I had a poster of these gents at the foot of my bed -- I love this album, too, and I married a dual citizen of the US and NI, I am holding in my hand a rubber riot bullet picked up by his outside her family's home in Belfast. It was time then, it's time now! Our son will tow the line fer his Da, RIP.
Definitely Brixton Academy - I have the video called See You Up There... And is a fantastic live concert right up there with Hanx!! (Even has Henry Cluney singing Wild Rover)!! If you can find it, get it. The sound is absolutely excellent quality!!
i was there at one of the tour dates that year , bristol bierkeller i think it was , when he had a cold and moaned cos ppl were spitting at them lol, they cut their set short too. still was a blast .
This is not Belfast nor is it 1993. It's Paddy's Day alright but it's 1988 and it's Brixton Academy. You can get it on dvd it's called " See you up there." I was at the gig.
Previous contributor is correct this was filmed at Brixton Academy on 17th March 1988 as part of the Go for it again tour. I was also there it was fantastic. And here there are in 2009 still going and sounding fantastic with a tour coming up this march
whooa this brings back memories of jumping around in St Johns hall...........all we wanted was an altermative ulster..........what a circus we've got now at least you could protesr SLF
I rememeber Jake Burns being interviewed on Radio 1 about 1980 and he said that the influnences for SLF were The Clash, The Clash and The Clash. Brilliant!
Yeah, bad drums, slow tempo. Still dam great! The reason The Clash were the only band that ever counted was because SLF were Irish and back then, well you know...that didn't count.
in fairness the clash did make slf count, cos no one knew fuck all about london, and we seen n. irland every nite on the news, so i guess it made us feel we were close to what slf were singing, cos sure as fuck we didnt know what the west way meant, to me, the two best bands ever, the clash and slf
beautiful! absolutely fantastic! SLF were my first love in music and I can't count how many times I've seen them. Absolutely love them, and it's great to have Ali back again :-) Thanks for posting this video...
It's the 1988 Go For It Again tour, ripped off the See You Up There video. Yeah it's a bit slow, but it was the first time they'd played together in five years. Go see them now (UK tour in March 2007) they'll blow you away!
aye i was at the last gig before the first split and seen them many times since but they toured with the stanglers twice and they are pish with that tosser as a front man he took his shirt off that was enough for me
saw them 3 times in the 70s twice in last year, great then, fuckin shite now.jakes turned into a proper stuck up his own arse, wanker.retire now n leave us some good memories.
huh? what's seems to be the problem with the drummer's playing? As far as i can see he palys just fine, Dolphin Taylor or not. If it's the slow tempo - well, Jake starts the song and sets the tempo with his guitar riff, so if there's any coplaints, blame him. Anyways, sounds good to me.
Saw them a few months ago in Sheffield and they are still brilliant great gig
