the funny thing about ''What if I had died'' it's that he train his neck to not die by hanging, so if something that could kill him and it's not a rope, or if he is pulled down while hanging, he'll say that phrase.

it's explained in newer episodes of the anime that he doesn't die because he goes to the gym to train his neck, and only his neck, so that he doesn't die from his many attempts to hang himself. Which makes me think Nozomu only does it for the shock value of watching a "dead" person say "what if I had died?"
