@vnctvega your ass 70k a pit boss makes around 60k it is minimum wage. 14k per year base with benefits it's like 30-50k. tips are 50-80% of your take home pay but that depends some casinos have a tip pool others let you keep them. your ass is expendable you can get fired for parking in the wrong spot, out of uniform, dealing wrong etc. You can lose your benefits moving within the company. It is not all that don't bloat it. If you are really going to make 70k you are in a rare crowd be honest.
WOW. How much do croupier's get paid? That's quite a skill set they're selling. I never thought about it but there's no way that's a shitty minimum wage job.
On the deal: K 4 = 0 Q 9 = +1 J 6 = +1 7 6 = 0 K 4 = 0 Dealer shows a 10 = +1 After the deal the count is +3 Then running count 14 hits a Face = +4 16 hits an 8 = +4 13 hits a 5 = +3 14 hits a 5 = +2 You don't see the dealers cards, but he hits once to get a 20. This is probably a mid range and a low meaning -1. The count is probably +1. If he had a five under and hit a five the count is +0. Those are the only two options.
@flibberdajibb Presuming HiLo Count After the deal the RC is +3 Then RC 14 hits a Face = +2 16 hits an 8 = +2 13 hits a 5 = +3 14 hits a 5 = +4 Also you say "You don't see the dealer's cards, but he hits once to get a 20." It's a Ten-card if dealer hits once for 20 from a Ten showing. So RC goes +3. You're fired !.. :-)
well, its not that im no good, im a dealer in canada, we place the dealers under card before starting the hand. never seen it done that way. but its ok. seems commenting on a useless vid hit a nerve with you. im free to comment. but of course your free to speak ur mind. maybe u shuld google before you post to see that its done differently everywhere?
I knew there are many tipes on procedures on how to deal at bj ... hole hard... mirror table... you just sad it was wrong without thinking the guyz who made the movie are or not retarded
not on roulette, depening iur paying ou bet or they arecolorig u there winnings. ifhey are wnning on number you pay incip total not money total. this is how it isat our casino.
I'm sooo much faster and smoother dealing blackjack, and the roulette chip work. I must admit though that I do not keep track of the card count as sharply, but I don't know a dealer in real life who can.
People who like this film obviously have no real idea about anything to do with croups and table games. I won't bother scrutinizing the entire film, (even though i could) any self-respecting croup knows this film is completely overblown and was more than likely dreamt up by a punter
A tie would be a good start! Too surly, scruffy, poor cardwork, slipshod chipwork on the BJ and there's no way a croupier would be counting cards as he dealt. 1) There's no point, the dealer makes no decision when dealing the game, the rules stipulate when he draws and stands and 2) If he's counting cards then he's not paying attention to his punters or his table security. All that said, still not as far fetched as the Final Hand in the Hold Em Tourny in Casino Royale!
Watch the clip again. Very rarely do you see Owen and his hands in the same shot. A lot of what he appears to do could just be clever editting, using a professional croupier to do the cardwork and chip-handling. That said, if I was the croupier hired to do it I'd be embarrassed, as much of what is done is as lumpy as hell! No style, poor commentary, if a dealer came to me and did a table test that bad, I wouldnt hire him for my Fun Casino business, let alone a real casino.
because, for some of us, this movie portrays what we do for a living. And does it badly. Most of us take pride in our craft while this movie is a real misrepresentation of what we do. I'm with oznerfherder. The movie is a big steaming pile but I still stand by my scrutiny of the cardwork and chipwork of Clive Owens' stand-in.
Agreed, the film is a movie. If anything, it creates a mystique in it's 'dramatization' of skills and character, not a technical dealer instruction video. The film = croupiers are cool and mysterious. The nerd debate on chip cutting errors therefore this movie sucks = croupiers are dorks. Lets push the dramatized cool version. Chicks dig that more and I'm sure didn't notice any errors. Peeps just think the scene is cool and therefore so are croupiers. Stop geeking us out, it's a movie :)
As a croupier with 20 years experience, I have to concur that in the dialogue, he says 1800 in ponies (£25 chips), which should be 72, he cuts 68. In the UK, it is customary to cut £25 chips in 4's, as its a £100 per 'cut'. Makes it easier for the customer to count what he's won when the dealer is proving the payout. When he says in the later clip that the manager cant count, did he mean he cant add up(he'd never get past the training, let alone make manager) or that he couldnt count cards?!
Why all the scrutinizing of the technical 'reality' re: counting and all - Great Film!! - (a 'cut' above just about anything else) - study the cinematography, acting,& writing - incredible.
1800, He brought out 3 stacks 1500 then cut 8 which is 1700. Theres alot of problems with this movie, when Jack taped off the dealer on roulette the wheel wasn't spinning, but STILL the movie is better then most when it comes to Casino facts.
people have a system with which they count the cards so that it gives them an edge when they're betting. Watch Rainman if you're still mentally challenged like the main character there and don't get it.

I think we've all now agreed that the payout is wrong, but I've just thought, what if he deliberately short counted the chips: In the film just after this scene on the voiceover he says that the manager can't count. He probably deliberately counted it wrong to see if he would notice.
@shaunzerofour is 100% correct - if you watch the entire movie, and not this short clip, Jack says, "it had taken him 45 minutes, but Jack had Mr. Reynolds number, that man couldn’t count."
The problem with the movie is not the mistakes he made, it was in being too subtle, thinking the audience would be astute enough to realize they made the mistakes on purpose.
i like the scene at the hairdresser's, don't you get pissed too when they expect you to tell them all about your life in like half an hour while you're not willing to speak at all let alone about your personal life? :-))
