  • 0:45 - 0:50 = FAIL !! lol !!

  • They'll make a movie about anything...

  • Croupier is my dream job i will follow my dream

  • Dealers don't scoop chips like that.

    Dealers don't keep a count.

It would be nice to see a casino movie actually based on reality.

  • what are they refering to "the count minus 9"?

  • @smithryansmith card counting i think

  • dude it's LUMP not a lumpy! learn the lingo.. minimum wage job? the base pay is but I'm on track to make 70k this year..

  • @vnctvega Dude it's Lumpy, as in a new croupier, when they shuffle their decks and stack them they come out lumpy

  • dude it's LUMP not a lumpy! learn the lingo

  • lol this downloaded in 7 minutes on torrents.

  • bet you got torrents on your other tab :)

  • Is this shot in a real casino? And if so in which casino?

  • This guy is a lumpy... 'nuff said.

  • wo kann man im internet den film ansehen?

  • Dont miss another big pick!

    halloffamepicks

  • the count is either 0 or +1 ... not -9 lol

  • Comment removed

  • WOW. How much do croupier's get paid? That's quite a skill set they're selling. I never thought about it but there's no way that's a shitty minimum wage job.

  • @Sei1863

    It's a shitty minimum wage/next-minimum wage job.

It can be fun however :)

  • On the deal: K 4 = 0 Q 9 = +1 J 6 = +1 7 6 = 0 K 4 = 0 Dealer shows a 10 = +1 After the deal the count is +3 Then running count 14 hits a Face = +4 16 hits an 8 = +4 13 hits a 5 = +3 14 hits a 5 = +2 You don't see the dealers cards, but he hits once to get a 20. This is probably a mid range and a low meaning -1. The count is probably +1. If he had a five under and hit a five the count is +0. Those are the only two options.
  • lol and the count is 0

  • -9 with such a small amount of cards seen? I couldnt see all the values, but I dont think it could get that low so quickly

  • @kcg5000 didnt see the last cards that were dealt but it could have been -9 easily.

  • Whats the name of this movie?

  • "CROUPIER"

  • @La1930CosaNostra Croupier

  • European / surrender bj ...

  • Im surprised nobody has notice that when he asks for 1800 in 25's he only gives him 1700.

  • that was exactly what my comment was going to be :) exactly 1700

  • lol, yeah i did :)

  • lol they sped the camera up when he was gathering up the chips.

  • @W0lfster I doubt it, he's not really that quick at all

  • A very skilled actor! All the time I watched the movie, I could really think that he IS the real croupier! Awesome performance.

  • brandon57381 - the argument was about blackjack and you change the subject to roulette lol idiot

  • During the blackjack part, he doesnt place the dealers under card?...this guy is no good regardless if its an actor or not!

  • Dealer`s folowing cards come after he has delt all the customers cards.

u are no good try google before u post

  • well, its not that im no good, im a dealer in canada, we place the dealers under card before starting the hand. never seen it done that way. but its ok. seems commenting on a useless vid hit a nerve with you. im free to comment. but of course your free to speak ur mind. maybe u shuld google before you post to see that its done differently everywhere?

  • I knew there are many tipes on procedures on how to deal at bj ... hole hard... mirror table... you just sad it was wrong without thinking the guyz who made the movie are or not retarded

  • its not just a different country.. im a dealer in malta with an italian company and we do it without the dealers undercard... so must be european lol

  • @brandon57381

have u ever thote that there are different procedures in different countries...

This is the english way of dealing...

    FAIL -_-'

  • just because in that casino they don t put the hole card.you are talking about the ship's procedures!

  • @brandon57381 thats the way they you deal in england

  • not bad but can you eat a whopper without getting the sauce on yourself

  • do croupier's make good money?

  • really big

  • @goldyn12345 depends where they work, but generally no, not any more

  • @garymcmanus2 how come?? dont they get loads of tips?

  • @goldyn12345 no

  • @garymcmanus2 how come?

  • thats only 1700

  • he should have cut 3 4's =12. 25's are always cut in four's

  • not on roulette, depening iur paying ou bet or they arecolorig u there winnings. ifhey are wnning on number you pay incip total not money total. this is how it isat our casino.

  • he only gives him 1700 in 25's, 68 chips when he should have gave him 72 chips,if this was a real table test he would have been shown the door!!

  • I'm sooo much faster and smoother dealing blackjack, and the roulette chip work. I must admit though that I do not keep track of the card count as sharply, but I don't know a dealer in real life who can.

  • this is not skills but common, what is skill on chiping, cuting and play blackjack? and im croupier so i known this well

  • People who like this film obviously have no real idea about anything to do with croups and table games. I won't bother scrutinizing the entire film, (even though i could) any self-respecting croup knows this film is completely overblown and was more than likely dreamt up by a punter

  • A tie would be a good start! Too surly, scruffy, poor cardwork, slipshod chipwork on the BJ and there's no way a croupier would be counting cards as he dealt. 1) There's no point, the dealer makes no decision when dealing the game, the rules stipulate when he draws and stands and 2) If he's counting cards then he's not paying attention to his punters or his table security. All that said, still not as far fetched as the Final Hand in the Hold Em Tourny in Casino Royale!

  • ???? I thought his chip skills were bloody good!, im no lumpy either

  • Watch the clip again. Very rarely do you see Owen and his hands in the same shot. A lot of what he appears to do could just be clever editting, using a professional croupier to do the cardwork and chip-handling. That said, if I was the croupier hired to do it I'd be embarrassed, as much of what is done is as lumpy as hell! No style, poor commentary, if a dealer came to me and did a table test that bad, I wouldnt hire him for my Fun Casino business, let alone a real casino.

  • i think people are over seeing the film, clive owens an actornot a croupier, so what does it matter?

  • because, for some of us, this movie portrays what we do for a living. And does it badly. Most of us take pride in our craft while this movie is a real misrepresentation of what we do. I'm with oznerfherder. The movie is a big steaming pile but I still stand by my scrutiny of the cardwork and chipwork of Clive Owens' stand-in.

  • hmm i think theres more to life personally, just enjoy the film for the story.

  • Agreed, the film is a movie. If anything, it creates a mystique in it's 'dramatization' of skills and character, not a technical dealer instruction video. The film = croupiers are cool and mysterious. The nerd debate on chip cutting errors therefore this movie sucks = croupiers are dorks. Lets push the dramatized cool version. Chicks dig that more and I'm sure didn't notice any errors. Peeps just think the scene is cool and therefore so are croupiers. Stop geeking us out, it's a movie :)

  • I agree, people are always looking too hard into things, this is a movie NOT a documentary!!

  • finally a comment that makes sense

  • As a croupier with 20 years experience, I have to concur that in the dialogue, he says 1800 in ponies (£25 chips), which should be 72, he cuts 68. In the UK, it is customary to cut £25 chips in 4's, as its a £100 per 'cut'. Makes it easier for the customer to count what he's won when the dealer is proving the payout. When he says in the later clip that the manager cant count, did he mean he cant add up(he'd never get past the training, let alone make manager) or that he couldnt count cards?!

  • Thanks for the post.

I heard about this movie from a friend. I would be nice if someone would post it...

    :)

  • Why all the scrutinizing of the technical 'reality' re: counting and all - Great Film!! - (a 'cut' above just about anything else) - study the cinematography, acting,& writing - incredible.

  • LOL 1800 in 25s more like $1700 dogdgey dealing.

And why would dealers bother counting the cards? It's up to the eye in the sky to make sure no-one is card counting.

  • is this off a film. if it is which 1 ?

    cheers x

  • Croupier w/Clive Owen

  • cheers dude x

  • 1800, He brought out 3 stacks 1500 then cut 8 which is 1700. Theres alot of problems with this movie, when Jack taped off the dealer on roulette the wheel wasn't spinning, but STILL the movie is better then most when it comes to Casino facts.

  • Errori...

    1) Le chips si tagliano e si mettono sopra le pile con la mano interna (quella verso il cilindro)

    2) Regola principale! Prima i soldi poi le carte...

  • fantastici croupier!!!!!!!!!

  • people have a system with which they count the cards so that it gives them an edge when they're betting. Watch Rainman if you're still mentally challenged like the main character there and don't get it.

  • Most modern casinos have 4 deck shufflers on blackjack tables, only barracat tables run out of an 8 deck shoe because the punters are paranoid.

  • Because they bet like 100k on a hand.

  • although card counting is legal, it will get you kicked out of a casino, and if they know you have this skill, they will make it as hard as possible,

lets say, 40 minutes of pure shuffling of a shoe before one single hand of blackjack.

  • what does he mean "whats the count"

  • noisy chips and cards at the blackjack table...hihihi

  • shaunzerofour is right, jack says afterwards that the manager can't count ;)

  • voison:you must go back to de dealing school. he cuts 70 or 68 pieces Im not sure, that is 70 (1750) and 68 pieces (1700)

anyway you are really rong dude.

  • 4800, where the hell did you get that from ??

    even if it was 100's, there 2000 a stack, 6 stack 6000 then cut 4, 4 thats 6800.

  • 3 stacks * 6000, typo

  • LOL the "count" is him counting cards...

The number of pictures left in the deck to the players advantage or disadvantage. he Paid 1700 not 1800 too nowhere near 4800

  • I think we've all now agreed that the payout is wrong, but I've just thought, what if he deliberately short counted the chips: In the film just after this scene on the voiceover he says that the manager can't count. He probably deliberately counted it wrong to see if he would notice.

  • Yep

  • @shaunzerofour did that dude just told him at the end your gone omg?

  • its not 1700 hundred...he gives him 1 650...that is not 1 800! Back to dealing school boy! :)

  • rong!!! he gives him 68 chips thats is 1700!!! he cuts the last pieces by 4 not by 5! as I can see.

  • yeh i got 1700 as well, if they are $25 chips, he definately cut in fours but he should have run down his short stack chips

  • i like the scene at the hairdresser's, don't you get pissed too when they expect you to tell them all about your life in like half an hour while you're not willing to speak at all let alone about your personal life? :-))

  • How can you guys work with Anounce bets on the American Roulette? That 00 totally fucks up the whole concept.

  • I'm a croupier, and I'm much better than that ;)

  • Yes I believe you, but he is an actor not a croupier

  • I know, do you think I'm serious :P

  • His tablecraft is too good for an actor. Watch the clip again, you never see Clive Owens face and his hands in the same clip. They use a professional croupier and edit in the cardwork / chipwork. But Monkan is right. The guy they use is as lumpy as hell.

  • Well between 1:16 and 1:22 is the actor, but it's an easy movement.

  • No chipea muy rapido.. pero para ser actor no esta mal...

  • me puede decir aluien donde consegir la pelicula, gracias

  • and also if you see the whole movie his black jack skills are ungodly bad, your right hand is allways at the shoe and your left hand takes the cards and puts them UNDERNEATH the Insurance line no matter how small the table is

  • Maybe YOUR right hand is always on the show, I keep my LEFT hand at the shoe.. but only because it is on the LEFT side of the table. :-p

  • Yes your right sorry I wrote the sides wrong... Left hand at the shoe and right hand takes the cards from the left hand and puts it to the position

  • I know, I was just being an ass

  • Not necessarily the case, balaz. In UK it is cusomary to cut £25 chips in 4's, hence £100 per cut. Also, many casinos in the UK deal the cards to the box, not to the base of the insurance line. This gives you more room and more clarity when it comes to splitting pairs, etc.

  • though you never staple chips like that... you allways have to cut 5er fractions and alignier one 5er fraction for the cameras to see that its 5 pieces

  • i'm croupier too.. as good as me..

  • His payout is wrong...he pays 1800 by 25 and he gives 68 chips, but right is 72 chips...but, good film

  • Comment removed

  • (3x20)+8=68 tnt1608

  • he gives 2x4+60...i am croupier, so plz believe me ;)

  • hello fellow croup and ya rite 2x4+60

  • is it a self-destructive job like in the film?

  • WAIT he does make the payout wrong

  • Yes exactly its 70 pieces in 25 = 1750 and not 1800

  • Easy job and worth the pay. It's only hard if you make it hard.

  • i'm in love with this vid I wanna be a croupier someday

  • hi as a croupier myself its not like what it shows on the films, its not as glamarous as what it looks

  • yeah, but i like when people are losing their money ;)

  • it depends of what casino are you working for, i think being a croupier is wonderfull and a lot of people want to be in our shoes, i know what i´m talking about! its glamorous, if you work in a good casino, and remember that this movie is about the novel wich was wrote by a croupier!

  • And what casino do u work in, and yeah it is a good job but the amount of nobheads we get in the one i work in thats what makes is a bad job, the asshole punters,

  • when BELLA said "Your boyfriend f***ed me, smoked my dope, then shopped me. What does shopped me mean ? Is this a British term I can figure out what it means ?

  • 'shopped' means informed on her to the police basically, or it can be used more generally as a term for grassing on someone to any other third party.

  • Thanks, this probably slipped past most Americans. You could easily infer what Bella meant but I wanted to be certain. Thanks again

  • I love this movie!
