  • Man, I would love to go to VFS - not even close to having enough money. Have to settle for luck to make it big in the industry like Mr. Blomkamp D:

  • I really love this short film, I think the ideas behind it are brilliant. I love the panel cube creature thing, I also love your hair.

  • he looks like david copperfield!!

  • very nice video................

  • is vancouver film school a coleage? and is it also for directores?

  • We're a post-secondary entertainment arts school. We have 13 programs which includes Film Production, where, yes, students learn the art of directing among other disciplines.

  • It is a pretty good work. I liked so much.

Es un excelente trabajo, me gustó mucho.

Miguel Angel, desde (from) Caracas, Venezuela.

  • very inspirational, i liked the film and the making of.

  • Does anyoune knows?...if you whrite crosses on your face for a better tracking, how do you then remove them??...you havo to a whole new skin for the entire face?

  • you have to do a ton of frame painting to get rid of them, or sometimes you can get away w/ cutting out part of the video w/ similar texture/color, and animating it over the track marks. and now theres this program called mokey that kinda helps you cover up the trackers. i havent really used it much, but it seems pretty good.

  • French? Are you an idiot?

    He's Israeli.

    Love you Ori!

  • wat u else u expect from an artistic french mind..

  • ?

He's Israeli...and really doesn't sound French at all.

  • "Look how easy it is" Hahahaha SOOOO Easy, you know? Haha

  • So do the balls represent his mind or are they representing how they push his mind into different directions?

  • brilliant!!!

  • Which is this "Rig test" software he is using to move the bones of the cube object?

  • im not sure, but it might be Maya

  • Softimage xsi think he said

  • he said he used softimage xsi for the modeling/animating of 3d stuff

  • is he indian?

  • no he came from israel

  • Hah! i don't blame you thinking he's indian. India's undergoing a really big ICT boom right now- i think. (i'm indian :))

  • The tracking program is called boujou by 2d3. it's really fun :]

  • no wonder this guy's movie was so expressive

he's RELE RELE RELE expressive in interivews!

    lol

  • I wanna know about that thing!!

wat is that called wat he got on his face like vertecies or a Vertex sorta thing??

  • is there a full version on the internet somewhere, that has seens like the one with the girl he was talking about?

  • DUDE ..that was AMAZING ...!!!

  • Hey man... this film was very.... Beautiful, well... to me. it has an incredible essence to it. I myself am a music artist and i to work with CG and etc... i was in sort of a writers block for a few months but this film inspires me everytime i see it. Great film keep up the good work...

  • Shameless.....

  • For ANYONE thinking of getting into film, I suggest VFS most out of any place you'll ever go to. Anyone looking to get into film, animation go to VFS.

  • I agree...im in my fourth year of vfx & motion graphics at the art institute of fort lauderdale and the more i get into it and the more demo reels i see from VFS the more i realize there are definetly things we are not learning here. They only show us 3DSmax and they have game art teachers teaching visual effects for it who barely know anything about compositing, we learn aftereffects and briefly touch on combustion and thats about it...very frustrating for a 100,000 dollar program.

  • Are you serious? I always thought that the Art Institute is a good school. I start in two weeks for Web Design and Interactive Media...This video is intimidating...especially with your comment. You got me worried if I'm heading to the right school lol.

  • I cant speak for the web program cuz i dont know anything about it. All i can say if they treat the program anything like the vfx one than you can prolly get ALOT more for your money somewhere else, ive actually stopped going to the school since that post and took upon myself to finish learning and i got great job. but there are alot of people suing the school for lack of education.

  • You can go anywhere. It's the stories you create that really matter in this field. You'll be find even if you can't animate like that. So, don't worry, just let your creative juices flow and eventually you'll find a good nugget. But, seriously, don't do that with drugs...

  • ...which is editing software, like he just said. He mentioned before he used a program called Softimaging and a few other programs for the 3D effects. He explains it in 1:48

  • what is the 3D software he uses that makes animating so easy? I have done some 3D, but with low grade programs that do not animate so smoothly, great job man, I am going for Film and Media arts in college

  • Love the movie!!! Check me out!

  • people who don't understand this film must be very dumb.

  • you are amazing

  • I would very much like to go to Vancouver Film School. Does it actually teach you throughout the years your there on how to create things like this, or do you have to know how to work programs like Maya and 3DS-Max before you can be accepted? Btw, awesome work, one of my favorites!!

  • You will learn everything you need to create this type of work at VFS

  • what video editing software did he say he used @ the very end?

  • he said he was using adobe premiere

  • That was really interesting learning about how you made that film, it's sertainly one of my favorites... I want that Program really bad too!

    5/5

  • Ori, you're amazing and have a very brilliant mind.

  • Ori is just amazing, I hope we see lots more of his work.

  • Why is "the making of" more than twice as long as the actual film?

  • Because it takes longer to make a movie than it actually is... Duh?

  • no comment. it sounds so easy, but its not.

    anyways thanks for some clarifications...

  • Keep up the good work Ori :P. Your work inspired me haha :D

  • Pff, I live in a third-world-country (Belgium). My dream is to be a 3D-artist but it's hard to find a school in here :(

  • Get yourself 3ds max, and remember google is ur best friend. Search for sumtin like "3ds max tutorials". Im 12 years old, and I model 3d. I think you can too. And if ur extremely into it, try Alias Maya. Its the most advanced on the market....so...thats what they make those disney movies from. Explore the web.

  • hope to see your future work, your an inspiration

  • Thnx for also making this "making of"!!

  • brilliant

  • Wicked awesome dude. Great work.

  • That was really good and Interesting, Thanks!

  • This is great, Ori... you'll go far!!

  • Wow! That is so cool!

I'm actually in an Art of Animation class in school right now, and we're learning the basics of animation, but my teacher is really into this kind of 3-D, CG animation, and is explaining some of the stuff to us, but actually being able to see it like this, and to be shown how it call comes together is amazing!

I can't wait until I can spread out my ideas like this...

  • ur awesome and nice and sweet!

  • wow, that goes really deep.

    especially at the end. thanks.

makes me want to vancouver film school when i grow up.

  • VFS is my dream :P

  • i am compelled to go to Vancouver all of a sudden...

  • This has to be the best, so want to meet you someday !!! Peace man, all the best Craig

  • talented i would like to be a video maker and tips?

  • To rockmanexex, well the way I would figure this out is to use another solid transparent layer w/the crosses on top as a extra overlay element and then disable the layer in the final composition rendering (under the KISS format). Livewire-

  • Yup that's kick ass man.

  • I want to go to VFS

  • I actually do have this one question which I hope gets answered. How did you remove the crosses on your face for the tracking process? Frame by Fram in Photoshop or is there a easier way?

  • Well the way I would figure it out is to use another transparent layer w/the crosses on top as a extra overlay element and then disable the layer in the final composition rendering (under the KISS format). Livewire-

  • Probably there was no crosses in the render; are digital generated just for positional porpouses.

  • What was that tracking program he said? Bujoo? Someone help me out.

  • BouJou 4

  • thanks for making this, it was really interesting hearing you. I loved the video...for me, it had a kind of Children of Men/Matrix feel to it.

  • wow great work. Magnus (icelandic film school)

  • where is this school?

  • lol... "VANCOUVER Film School"

  • This guy is my new hero.

  • that program is awesone, and i like the interpretation he gave on the video.

  • amazing job!

  • genius! well done

  • ha... wow thats really cool

  • This guy is a genius!

  • What can I say... Awesome!!

  • The piece itself is absolutely beautiful and more so hearing your explination

  • this program looks amazing.

  • Very interesting. Tomorrow's great directors on my laptop now. I wish VFS would post more student work.

  • Very very good job, the only weak point imo is the screenplay, like he said, the film is very open to interpretations, lot of empty space there

  • Im a big fan of "Piece of Mind" and the VFS school. Keep it up guys!

  • Your video has no story and no logic. It sucks.

  • Clearly you didnt watch THIS interview did you? He explained it here.

  • Amazing! This student has really made use of his resources. I am in awe.

  • Ok, im from europe and i dont have the money to visit a school like this. Can i teach that myself? What books do i need? Pls answer, would be great

  • VFS teaches better than books. no books teach better than VFS i'm sure.

  • Sweet! thanks for this alot! I was kind of hoping of trying to get into the school and now I know more about it and how much fun people really have there. Now I'm going to try harder in school to make it in!!

  • I love you guys.
