The F-4 has a shark-mouth red tail shown from behind/side, F-15's cockpit canopy has amazing view in all directions and two metal bolt-strips near each seat. Music lyrics fit exactly what the pilots are doing over 15 times and it's radar makes the plane superior
This is a video of the 173d Fighter Wing (Air National Guard). The F-15s depart Kingsley Field (KLMT) Klamath Falls, Oregon and complete air-to-air missile training inside the W-570 and/or W-93 special use airspace. No combat involved here, those are unmanned drones being shot down.
@twothousandgt Thank you for clearing up the details. Do you happen to know what type of drones they were, obviously manipulable ones that can dispense flares. I agree, "Air Combat training" would be a much better title for the video. The cameraman must have been in a D/E model, the others appeared to be F-15C's, is that correct?
The drones are F4s and the camera plane was an F-15B (two seat trainer). Most of the F-15s doing the firing look like -Bs as well, but there maybe an A in the mix somewhere. The 173d FW only has -A/Bs as far as I know.
Nice to see Langley's F-15s at work. I'm used to seeing them as demos. Kind of ironic that the QF-4s that fly in airshows now will eventually be shot down as target drones. Long live Team Target!
Ok guys ! actually it s just a training against F4 without pilot ( I mean guided from the ground ). But there is still something amazing. One of the last shot ( the one with an F15 which drop a lot of flare ) is a " friendly fire " just for fun and it s very close !
Typhoon001: Drones don't try to evade like that and are not armed with flares. Drones just can not be controlled like from the ground, so I would think this is footage from Iraq personally.
Iraq bought MIGs and were used during the gulf war. All were shot down. No allied plane was shot down during the dog fights. But i doubt this was a footage during the gulf.
Re: the gulf war: New York Times article written by Mark Crispin Miller (a professor of media studies at Johns Hopkins University) where a "senior Navy Intelligence Officer, Capt Carlos Johnson, said "we were pretty sure at the beginning" that the F-18 flown by Speicher was downed by an Iraqi MiG-25 Foxbat.
awesome video..but the background music kinda ruined it.. It would have been much better to just hear the sound effects and radio chatter for a video like this
Land of No Slack =) Great video!

Very good! I like the sound of the pilots breathing! Gives it the very realistic touch.

I never knew the iraqi's flew any combat? is this video real or training
notar1 5 years ago
Iraq from 1990? An Iraqi Mig-25 shooting down a US F18 was supposedly the first air-to-air kill in that conflict.
