  • I love the hammer dulcimer!

  • do it without the 1980's cabaret rhythm backing yoke.

  • I'm learning the hammer dulcimer on a 15/14 and just recently learned this song too! :) It's so pretty and you play it very well! Maybe one day...when I can play without making 100 mistakes, I'll be able to post a video of it too! :) Great job and thanks for sharing!

  • Tis OK - but could be be produced by a computer - scots gaelic and irish gaelic are the same - slight dialect differences.Nil an gaeilge go mhaith agam ach Is scriibhoir an mhaith Turloch O'Carolan agus is maith an ceol a d'fhag se.

  • buitengewone muziek!! erg mooi om te horen en bovendien ook erg ontspannend.

Graag meer van deze prachtige muziek! groeten uit Europa!

  • @Pawnbroker00 same thing XD

  • @Pawnbroker00 same thing XD , well yeah other way around XD , sry for my mistake ^.^

  • @henno147 Yes i know it is the other way round.. gaelic languages have reversed order on that sort of thing.. like bhaga-sgoil instead of school-bag etc etc, i am a scottish gaelic speaker so excuse me if that is not interpretable to irish gaelic people

  • @Pawnbroker00 haha wow ! scotts gaelic is beautful , in Irish school bag is mala scoile , its amazing the similarities and differences , merry x mas / nollaig shona duit! ;)

  • @henno147 nollag chridheal dhut :D

  • absolutely lovely.

    ...more please.

    .

  • What kind of dulcimer do you have?

  • An inspirational playing of an O'Carolan piece. My husband especially loves the hammered dulcimer. We went to Evart, Michigan, to the Hammered Dulcimer Festival and bought a couple and took lessons for about 6 mo, but it is so difficult to learn. We will try to take your beautiful playing as motivation to try again. We had such a hard time trying to notate what to play. Our teacher wanted us to just do it by ear. Any hint on learning to play? Thanks for sharing your beautiful music

  • Great job Sign543! This music really is soothing. Hard to find in mp3 form. Can you tell me where I could find more other then youtube?

  • I listen to this every day. Greetings from Co Antrim

  • Beautifully done!! I love listening to you play!

  • 21,000 views! You are the man.

    Well done.

  • guitar strumming in backround?

  • that was awesome ^_^

    thank you .

  • Love it. How long have you been playing? Thinking of picking up the hammered dulcimer myself.

  • Again, lovely :) Please post up more!

  • Who's playing in the background? Why didn't you show them too?

  • definitely the best version of this

  • That is truly a beautiful piece of music, you play so nice. Hope to see more of your music on here.

    Hugz from Canada

  • Hugs back at you...and thank you. I want to move to Canada. :)

  • This is even prettier than Magical Strings' version!

  • Wow...very nice!

  • Have to say that was truly beautiful music. I love this tune but your piece is by far the best i have found on Youtube.

    Please post more tunes.

  • Beautiful music and lovely playing. Thanks for the sharing of it.

  • Thank you!!

  • Very nice, where did you find the arrangement with the embellishments?

  • I made that backing track myself. :)

  • This is so beautiful. Why don't you play your dulcimer more now???

  • OOOOH Tony, I thought the best version of this ever was Douglas Gunn's ensemble doing it on recorders. But yours is even better!!!!!

I LOVE THIS. Please play your dulcimer some more, PLEASE PLEASE!!

"A damsel with a dulcimer in a vison once I saw..." well not exactly a damsel but certainly a VISION.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Do you have that Gunn's version? Maybe you could share it?

  • You got that good in two years? Pretty awesome! Was this a medieval instrument? I see a lot of them at SCA events.

  • Still checking out your site,Im just amazed!!!!

  • If it would have been in d instead of G, I could have played along with my tin whistle! :-) I can a little now also. Great video BTW!

  • Wonderful...Thank You

  • Your music brings back some sweet memories

  • Fab Sign xx

  • THANK YOU!!

  • Wonderful!

  • Wow, so beautiful.

  • Dude this is fantastic. Love the trills too

  • Oh, the trills are my fav! Thank you!!

  • That was wonderful!!!

The first time I heard that song played on a Hammered Dulcimer it was by a local musician and I can say it has become my absolute favorite song of all time.

I hope you post lots more videos in the future.

  • THANK YOU!!

  • Beautiful!!!!

  • ohhh I love this one too! how long have you been playing?

  • Hmm. About two years?? I love it so much. :)

  • Sounds Great!

I can't seem to get this one on my fiddle, dunno why. Probably getting it confused with another tune. :'-(

  • Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some 1920's trading cards of musical instruments, including the Dulcimer.

  • I've enjoyed watching this video. I'm getting a hammered dulcimer and Band in the box for Xmas. How did you lay in the background music for this song?

  • Thank you! For this video, I recorded the backup to a CD then played it on a stereo...for the recording, I just played on top of the track. What kind of hammered dulcimer are you getting?

  • Awesome job! This is my favorite song to fiddle...but the violin is the only instrument I can play it on

  • you people are nuts!!! this is cool and all but... what?! what in the world are you talking about?! p.s. cool, you're awesome!!!

  • What do you mean?

  • you're talking technical terms here Tony!!! I read the comments, and now my mind is all jumbled!!! nvm I'm just a little crazy... yes I said it, cuz I am! whatever ttyl

  • Nice job. Do you do your own backup tracks?

    Donna

  • Yes, I use a combination of band-in-the-box and Acid Pro for mixing and sequencing. For hammered dulcimer music, it's hard to come up with backups that sound...right. But, it's still a lot of fun. I watched your butterfly vid again last night. I wish I had your vid editing resources. I so enjoy your imagery. :)

  • hey! it's Tony! take off the disguise man! oh and nice song!
