  • How to make the display come up on the LCD?

  • Put on some clothes...

  • dull shit vid! what a waste of 3 n a half mins! :( you owe me now.

  • Super great comparison.. I have the 350D + BGE2, and I'm intrested in the 40D. so this was exactly what I was looking for.. (;

  • Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • from what ive seen and heard is the 7d makes the d300s it's bitch best auto-focus canon has ever had, fastest aps-c

and most mp aps-c camera ever made and i seen this video of it taking a shower beacuse it has 1d seals

  • From what I know, the Dx00's are in a different range than the x0D's of Canon.

    The fair match is a 7D against a D300(or the upcoming D400.

  • no offense, but this video does not help me out much at all......

  • I agree that the D300 is a fantastic camera but totally disagree with your silly childish comment that states that the 40D is likened to a toy.

It's the person behind the camera that counts. I could produce a fantastic shot from a point and shoot that could (could) knock the socks off a shot taken even with a D3x!

  • true that lol its like you got that from ken rockwell xD

  • HELL YEAH!!! About to get mine today!!! :D

  • butlerscabin2008 do u shoot?? or u just love nikon because u like better how it looks??/ couse it seems to me that u own a d 40 ,( if), dream of a d3x but shoots in full auto

  • Hi,i actually use a nikon d90,i want the new d300s,see some of my photos on my home page,I take photos of race horses mailny.

  • we got a fanboy here ...

  • Saying it's miles better is a bunch of crap. Both Nikon and Canon are producing great camera's and there is actually none better. Yeah, the D300 may be better at some points, but so has the 40D it's better points over the D300.

I am a Canon user, 50D, but have the option to use D300 camera's at my school next year, and don't care to use those if I have to.

Eventually, it's all about preferance, nothing more, nothing less.

  • what lense do u have on it during the high speed shooting with out noise and how much is it

  • Comment removed

  • its a 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM, its $1700 USD

  • I love the sound of the 40D, if that was a gun it would do alot of damage :)

  • what is that thing you attached to your camera

  • I think you are talking about the (battery) grip. It allows you to turn your camera vertical and still be in a comfortable position to shoot pictures and change the value's of your shutter and aperture.

It also contains 2 batteries (mostly, not all grips do, like the wireless 40D grip), so you'll be able to shoot longer!

  • The 40D kicks butt ^^ love mine to bits

  • My 300D is dead.

  • i upgraded and i adore my 40d

  • its the same for me, a bird comes outta nowhere at high speed n im hard on the shutter release. even the 50D dont have 6.5 fps

  • looks like every one is upgrading from the 350d to the 40d.

  • is fps all we know about our cameras???wtf is with all the comparisons with fps, it dont mean squatt!!! next will be a string of vids saying megapixels actually count lol

  • I can see you've never shot sports before. :P

A good shutter speed is a big, big plus.

  • i didnt refer to shutter speed, i refered to frames per second, and i own the 40D with L series lens's, and ur right i havnt shot sports before, i shoot birds in flight

  • Oops, didn't mean speed, meant frame rate as well! Didn't notice what I had said either. Let me start again fresh. A good frame rate is a big plus because if you miss an important moment, or emotion, it's near impossible to catch another just like it. Sports is kind of a 'spray and pray' type of photography, and if you have to shoot sports for some occasion, then a fast fps makes all the difference.

  • I prefer the 40D over the 50D.

  • what a boring video, anyways, whats all the fuzz about High Speed shooting if most people suck at One Shot shooting, lol...

those are just tools, remember that, it's not gonna replace talent!

  • its for sports

    make sequences

  • yeah, i know, but there are features that get so overrated, i mean, someone hears that more fps are better, and thats what they look for after that, or the Live View thingy, they are like WOOOOOW what a wonderful tool, but all point and shoot cameras do it, am i wrong?

it means that because i can see in the lcd, it should be better??? maybe im the noobest noob!

  • Live view is only really useful for macro, astro or telephoto shooting when you need to get the focus absolutely perfect. If you're not into that sort of thing then it is rather pointless for day to day use.

  • i like the live view because it works well when i dont want to keep my eye on the view finder and i can adjust the camera more easily on a tripod, that is pretty much the only reason i use it though, macro and i also like it for nature stuff.

  • i hope that power switch is ok jesus christ lol

  • new series 50d?:D

  • this reminds me of the halo kid video. how he just silently pretends to press all the buttons...

  • what a useless video...

  • Not really, although there isn't any voice to talk through the camera. I currently have a 350D and was looking at buying the 40D tomorrow, I was hoping to see a size comparison and that's what I got.

  • haha I back u up

  • maybe your a waste of space

  • OMG Bull shits

  • 100.000 - 78? .. well that was a good waste of frames LOL

  • say something, dumbass!

  • canon is the best camera ever, nikon stinks.

  • its also more expensive. Sony is great for consumer and prosumer stuff but can't keep up with professional equipment. Canon has a much better lens line up than Sony. But with that said i bet most ppl couldn't tell a picture if it was takin by canon or sony if a good photographer was taking it.

  • agree

  • I second

  • Why don't people ever talk when doing things likes these?

  • yah, its really annyoing , makes the vids sorta dull withouth commentary

  • i donno whther its jus me..have been using 30D n 5D for some time recently used 40D.. Well i like the grip n quality but.. wats up with tat twangy shutter sound... it jus feels weird...

  • 40D uses two motors, one to bring the mirror up and one to bring it down. 20/30D and 5D use a spring up and motor down. 40D also has modified dampening to reduce vibration from mirror slap. That's the difference in the sound.

  • oh man...u inspiring me to do a video!

question " i have a rare L-series telephoto lens 35-300/2.8is but it is broke...do you know of anyone selling one or who can repair them?

  • Ok. Thank you for sharing ;D

  • Nice vid and comparing with the 350D. Have the 400D myselves, and it holdes for me... I have only a question: what is that white L-series lens you have there at the high speed shooting? is it 100-400 or 70-200 f/2,8 or something?

  • 70-200/2.8 IS

  • I have a 40D, for the money the features it lacks when compared to a Nikon D300 are inconsequencial. Bias I know. It will auto focus in Live View with a setting configured. I made a jump up from the humble 300d to this. If you are into macro, astro and stop motion this is your camera. Also, it's worth mentioning that the silent shot mode for weddings and having the ability to adjust the focus etc. while sitting at your computer really rock.

  • You could do with more light on the subject, filming towards the window is making it very dark. Nice to see the 2 cameras side by side though

  • Cool iam getting myself one of these puppys, although my other half doesnt know yet.

  • Hee hee, keeping it a secret from your woman....love it, that's what I do too....

  • show some photos then we will see

  • Thank you for your effort to make this video.

    It is great.

I am looking into buying one too.

I own a Nikon D50 but the flash on board died (only 18 months).

  • I heard about the Wireless Image File Transmitters (WFT-E3) accessories for the 40D, It allow the 40D to be control via wireless by a computer complete with zoom, focus and many more functions. I really want to know if you have the WFT-E3, If you have one please make a review on it...

  • I do not have a WFT-E3, but you can wirelessly control the 40D if you have one using Canon's EOS Utility. To answer that question, all you have to do is look at the EOS Utility Manual (PDF) or the WFT-E3 manual from Canon's website.

I have used my LiveView via EOS Utility and USB cable connected to my MacBook Pro. It worked nicely and the ability to zoom and focus on the computer screen was really awesome.

  • woww.. thats was a cool info before I buy one. One last thing.. do 40D share the same lenses with the 400D?

  • yep canon EF och canon EF-S

  • opps.. sorry just forget the last question :)

  • Cool demo... Thanks!

  • I had a couple of requests to do the high-speed test @ different shutter speeds. So I am currently making a video with varying shutter speeds and the resulting fps using a stop watch.

  • I don't have time until probably next weekend to edit and put together the video. 24mm @ f/2.8 ISO 200 Highspeed Noise Reduction: Off Format: Large JPEG Evaluative Metering Manual Focus I shoot until the buffer filled up, using a stop watch for timing. 1/125 with 124 images @ 20.01 seconds = 6.197 fps 1/2000 with 179 images @ 28.07 seconds = 6.377 fps 1/4000 with 196 images @ 30.62 seconds = 6.401 fps 1/8000 with 198 images @ 35.84 seconds = 5.524 fps
  • bund mara, teri pan di lunn!!

  • 40dキモイ

  • I am looking into getting the 70-200 IS USM. got the BG-E3 grip on my 400D, PRETTY GOOD !!

  • How does the 70-200 feel on the XT?

I have an XT and want a 70-200 as my next lens..

  • well, for me it stems from one of issues I had with the 350D. its too small.

attach a 70-200/2.8 IS to a 350D and its difficult to hold without a tripod. Using a battery grip, its much easier to manage.

350D+70-200/2.8 IS still took some great pictures.

  • ahhh! going to by that camera. are the lens the, 70-200 2.8 IS or non IS? are you happy with the lens?

  • 70-200/2.8 IS

That lens is incredible. I also have the 24-70/2.8 and I have previously owned the 24-105/4 IS and I have to say, the 70-200 is faster, sharper then both of them. its one amazing lens.
