It´s lyric about the emptyness of our time and of so many people. Sometimes a bit rude perhaps but right and deep. I agree how you see this empty material world and beginning distance to the young ppl when one becomes older. Anyway, what I understood or misunderstood :

I try not to judge other people's artistic preferences. Not every kind of art appeals to everbody. NJ is not my favorite, but I have a daughter, raised on the best of every kind of music, and she adores Celine Dion. Who am I to say she is wrong? It's the music that makes her feel good. It speaks to her. I don't like it, but I don't have to. We all have different life experiences and dream different dreams. So it should be. Polished or rough, it's all music. A great song, Colin, though I'm not sure whether Norah Jones is a fair target. Can't say I'm very familiar with her work, but having had the experience of attending an unforgettable concert by her father in Varanasi, I'm sure some of his greatness must have been passed down to the next generation.

I've listened to all of your music and this is my favorite. Had they tried to be, Van Gogh and Oscar Wilde could not have been more misunderstood. As a painter, I have found that acceptance of creative personalities is spotty at best.
