  • Colin James performed with Stevie Ray Vaughan...so you know he's good!

  • @Dropkickacadian Actually SRV allowed Colin James to open for him on many occasions, and Colin's SRV and Healey were close friend's.

    Especially Jeff Healey.

  • This man is a legend. I feel blessed to have seen him in concert here in Edmonton. The day I saw him in the North Vancouver Starbucks and didn't tell him how great he was is a HUGE regret....Sorry Colin!

  • i rank this boy up there with Roy Buchanan and Rory Gallagher- one of the very best of any style he wants to play

  • can someone upload the videoclip? i can't find it anywhere...

  • Colin James is the closest thing we have to a living breathing Stevie Ray.... lovin the fact that he is a fellow canuck!! Gotta see him play live!!

  • I have to agree he's got a lot of stevie influence in his playing. But I disagree on the closest thing to a living breathing stevie, that would have to go to Stevie's brother Jimmie Vaughan:P

  • Love that little third stone from the sun riff

  • Colin is just way to cool. This was great fun to watch...he looks and sounds like he is having a blast !

  • five stars... Awesome!

Jules, I love you my baby bear! :*

  • Colin James is sweet i saw him live im am one of his youngest fans im 9

  • SRV had Colin James opening for him and said that he (James) was one of the best guitarists he had ever seen.

He is most certainly one of the finest and most under-rated players who have ever picked up a guitar.

Jeff Healey was often recognized by his peers as one of the finest guitarists of all time.

  • yup...SRV helped make Colin James who he is. SRV heard James play out in Vancouver when he was out there on tour and basically convinced James to drop out of high school at the age of 17 and go on tour with him...James never looked back!

  • not true... at least the way I heard it. CJ had already dropped out of school and was living with his girlfriend & her parents. He got he call to open for SRV, at a time when SRV wasnt a big star yet. SRV did love the kid, and even gave him his stage name. CJ's real last name is Munn, but in SRV's texas twang it came out Mud! So one night SRV asked him his middle name and that night announced him on stage as Colin JAMES, his name sho'aint MUD!

  • CJ was definitely SRV's protege... SRV took him to Austin on his nickel and touted him around town, and eventually helped him get a record deal. Healey was also touted up by SRV, as well as BB King and Albert Colins. CJ & JH are totally different players, equally good in their own styles. Jeff was an 'all-time' player because of his technique - no one can play normally and reach what he could, it's not physically possible. It's a shame he was so material challenged, he was a guitar god.

  • Hendrix, Santana, Clapton, Vai, Trower, SRV, Healey, & C. James. Eight of the best guitarest's that have ever exsisted.

  • there are plenty of blues musicians that are < or equal to C james. sure he is good, i could never play like that, not even close, but that is not my point. my point is that i would not put him in the top 8 ever, top 8...c'mon

  • well your entitled to your opinion:)

  • Except for Hendrix & Santana being GROSSLY overated. CJ and Healey were extremely talented - Healey overall is probably the most versatile because of the reach he was able to span. Hendrix on his best day, could not have hung with Healey on his worst. No way in hell, period. And if you think so, you know nothing about playing music (not making noise or being a circus monkey, which Hendrix did both very well)

  • Well I agree that Hendrix & Santana are overated, but everyone's entitled to there opinions. As underated as Healey was, CJ's more underated then him.

  • Dont forget Joe Bonamassa! :)

  • colin is Canadas finest , best blues and rock and roll , swing musicians. We will never share him with the USA!!!!!!!!! Hes ours!!!!!!

  • Got to love him!!

  • yeesh, cut Colin some slack. He's a great musician, a class-act, and a rare blues axe-man in Canada. By the way, if you've played guitar for more than a month, you would know can't be a hack and pull off the tributes (a la SRV, Jimi, etc.) he does. Keep on rockin' Colin!

  • Colin isnt posting his own videos on you tube im sure.

Who cares LISTEN TO THIS MAN SWING!!

IF colin was born south of the 49th he would be massive, and jammin in Vancouver would be a freakin honor and a VERY RARE TREAT!!!

Dont be shy Canada to love our own!!!

  • Colin, you are always a pleasure to listen to.

  • bloody show off

  • He loves the blues. It's in his blood. He plays with feeling and skill I might add. I have seen him play a few times. The first time I saw him I felt humiliated that I didn't even know who he was and had never heard of him. I was lucky enough to enjoy that event for free.

  • I actually spent some time with him when I visited vancouver in march, Id never heard of him but my uncle is a good friend of his and him and his family are lovely, friendly people, its only since Ive been back in the uk Ive had a chance to really hear any of his work.

  • i did...it's "Third stone from the sun", and it starts at 2:00 and lasts until about 2:45.

  • is it just me or did i hear a little piece of a jimi hendrix tune in there somewhere?

  • Hendrix and SRV are all over this. I spotted Pride and Joy, Little Wing, ScuttleButtin, I'm Leaving You (Commit A Crime), 3rd Rock and then Keep on loving...

  • well well little miss 3d, smart pants are we? lol

i actually pride myself on being able to "name that tune", and you just blew me out of the water! haha

  • colin, you do canada proud.

  • awesome...unbelievable...you are the brightest star in our great Canadian sky...God bless...

  • He is the best!

  • My mother used to go out with Colin.

I've met him several times and I have his autograph! Real nice guy
