  • The consumption of tea is on the rise in Sweden, maybe someday, a beautiful day, Sweden will consume more tea than coffee, hope for a bright future!

And also, this song is awesome :)

  • I never understood how coffee and tea became basically opposites, like people could only choose one or the other. I, personally, adore both tea and coffee! Both are so delicious in their own way~

  • Guess both the band and who made the video had something put in their tea...

  • C... O... F... F... E... E... coffee's much stronger than tea. Young folk should leave it alone, for it makes them skin and bone. Better by far to be simply a drinker of tea.

  • I love this song! Kula Shaker are The BEST!

    <3

  • @MarkPMus Obviously there are religious undertones (just look at the title), but that's part of the pun! Yes, religion has been notoriously used as a way to influence or control the masses throughout history, but used here it is just part of the pun. The overall message is that it would be a shame if the long history and tradition of tea drinking were lost on the youth due to coffee (starbucks anyone?) Long live history! Long live tea!

  • like the Monty Python feel to the video

  • MMMmmmm... tea is much better then coffee

  • I had a similar nightmare when I was a kid.

  • Mental..LOL! Well Done. Bravo old chaps.. Mines an earl grey please! Hare Krisna

  • I prefer tea to coffee

  • It's a nice touch having George Orwell in this

  • マジキチ

  • Looks like about 8 people have stock in Starbucks.

  • This is incredibly awesome!

  • Better than Parklife

  • Must drink tea!!!

  • What the deuce?

  • 8 heretics, as i read this.

BURN THEM! tea is at stake ;0)

  • tea and a zoot love it om shanti

  • Battersea Power Station at 1:12 aka Pink Floyd album "Animals" cover. Oh psy/Progressive rock

  • Hahaha! I just realised, that bit at the end there, where it's all in that guy's (Orwell's?) cup, possibly a play on the phrase, 'Storm in a teacup'?

  • Where may we find the single, "Baby Jesus"?

"Baby Jesus" and "Drink Tea" are both so lovely!

  • i like tea

  • I dont care this video tripped me the hell out. IM SO STOOOOOONNED!!!!

  • Orwell never took sugar in his tea.

Other than that, this is an amazingly beautiful song.

    xx

  • "Tea offers a moment of transcendence... tea is a gift from our Creator!" :D Love it! :)

  • how was this song made in 2008 but this video was made in 2007?

  • oh the Brits...they're just pure fun ^^

  • @lucianatg1 Yes, yes we are. Thank you for noticing! :D

  • Classic !!

Well done Lads, this is well funny.

  • I suddenly have the urge to drink tea.... :S Puzzling.

  • This brings back the good 'ol monty' days.

  • Drinking my black coffee while watching this feels wrong somehow...

  • Buy a free song?

  • Smoke tea.

  • I think the film clip is about my favourite soccer (football) team Sydney FC. Noticing the cut aways and quick blends from black & white to colour. This is symbolic of our ability to change managers on an almost weekly basis. However, Crispian and the boys are trying to tell Sydney FC to take a walk down the path of enlightenment via tea and it's calming qualities.

  • I made comments on this vid a while back and was criticised, but there is definitely a deeper message going on. Watch the video. There are beady eyes in cameras at the beginning, a bloke spouting the benefits of tea drinking with a ciggie on (i.e. blatant hypocrisy), tea cups with 1984 written on them. Oh, and a non tea drinker gets his head hacked off and this is transformed into a teapot! It's about the dangers when powers use religion as a tool to achieve a political agenda.

  • @MarkPMus Rofl, how you came to that conclusion from the things you listed...you escape from the loony bin recently?

  • @CandlesInADaze I clearly need to do a video on my thoughts on this song! I would have to write a bit about it. One thing is for sure, the "tea drinking" is an analogy for something far deeper. Candles, read my earlier points. It is not fair to consign me to the funny farm just yet!

  • @MarkPMus Haha fair enough! I just enjoy the song because it is about Tea (or it is on the surface ;P)..which is, in my opinion, by far the best drink ever!

  • @MarkPMus The eyes in the cameras, 1984, all those are just references to '1984' the book by George Orwell (shown here as the bloke spouting the benefits of tea drinking), nought to do with religion. Politics, yes, if you read 1984 you'll get that. Orwell was chosen to be the 'narrator' of this song by Kula Shaker because he wrote an article about how to make the perfect cup of tea.

  • @HarvestMoonStudios If you follow KS' religion you can't separate anything from God, even politics. It's to do with religion, tea is from our creator, and we should drink tea for the love of God! It's about using religion to achieve a political agenda. You should combine the messages from lyrics & video. Crispian was concerned that hardly any groups addressed the Bush/Blair issues of the day. Blair had tried to use God to sell the war with Iraq to UK. I'm sure that's at least part of the crux!

  • Drink Indian Tea.. or Ceylon Tea or British Tea on weekends Irish Tea ( lol).. Coffee causes Heart burn.. ulcers and what not.. Tea ROCKS.. Tea is Bliss.... Tea doesn't stink. DRINK Tetley or TATA but plz drink TEA

  • Marrant. mais pourquoi il y a écrit 1984 sur la tasse ? ... Drink tea for the love of god !

  • lol nice!

  • Its Just a fun video

  • I like coffee !

  • drink tea for the love of goooooood

  • weed at 0:52 haha:D

  • @Nightkill1234 no its not

  • This makes you proud to be English, for a change.Tea,good music and a bit of Python. Not sure about the Queen though.:)

Keep the nationalist sort of thing out.

  • Drink (ice-)Tea!!

  • UTAH TEAPOT! <3

  • This song seems to me to be about religious bigotry - of the "our religion is better than yours" variety. Lots of (largely) unsupported "evidence" plus approval from the Almighty makes "us" better than "them". Unless 'they" join "us" of course. Not to mention the threat of the grim reaper at the beginning.

  • @MarkPMus

    dude, its only a song

  • @MarkPMus You look far too deep into things. It's music, and good music at that. Enjoy it for what it is.

  • @mythicaljake and andyg3 - I do enjoy music for what it is - which is potentially extremely powerful. KS sing about Hinduism, with a lot of emphasis on the Bhagavad Gita - The SONG of love - a very sacred scripture. So to say "it's only a song" is to diminish the importance of music. Anyway, it doesn't take a genius to work out that this is an analogy - listen to the words!

  • the video so reminds me of the Beatles' yellow submarine movie! I love them!!!

  • Orwell hated sugar in tea.

  • I'm not sure I quite understand what I just watched.

  • @GuardMarcellus

What it is to be English my good fellow

  • the next release by the band will be out on 1st August, which is Yorkshire Day here in the U.K. It will be called, 'Eat Yorkshire Puddings', it is a protest against the Americanisation of pancakes.

  • @c0bbl3rs well done! let it be the war of the pancakes...

  • dopo beatles e Pink Floyd per me ci siete solo voi.

    continuate sempre così. un abbraccio

    eugenio

  • can i ask? i thought tea is not an advisable drink for the devotees of Krisha..i have read it...can anyone clarify this? Hare Krishna

  • I prefer coffee to tea... but ya know, this can really turn a guy's head....

  • a lack of psychedelic music is a risk for your health ;-)

  • I love the Vivian Stanshall cameo near the end of the video. Absurd.

  • I made a Video Remix called: I Love tea.

click on my name and watch and enjoy

  • And being English? :)-that silly ol' walk

Creepy video but very interesting... groovy!

  • What year was this???

  • im thinking 1985.

there are lots of cups that say 1984 on and then it says "62billion cups of tea were drank last year"

good detective work from me there :D

  • it was 2007, a free gift for xmas off the band

  • The reason they say "1984" is because George Orwell, the guy featured in the video, wrote the book "1984," about totalitarian governmental control of society.

    The video is from 2007.

  • @sapphire1221: 2008 I think... Was their Christmas single after their return from the dead in '07! :D

  • Kula Shaker mixes lightness and depth in a way I have never experienced before. I adore them.

  • Orwell didn't like sugar in his tea:

"I know very well that I am in a minority here. But still, how can you call yourself a true tealover if you destroy the flavour of your tea by putting sugar in it? It would be equally reasonable to put in pepper or salt. Tea is meant to be bitter, just as beer is meant to be bitter. If you sweeten it, you are no longer tasting the tea, you are merely tasting the sugar; you could make a very similar drink by dissolving sugar in plain hot water."

  • keep your sense of humour, the video is pure joy, isn't it?

  • I'll drink to that!

  • Black tea is roasted which in my opinion destroys the flavor to begin with.

  • I love it! Tea is indeed a marvelous drink. Kula Shaker were one of my faves.

  • well, took a long time but they're back! Still wonderful and amazing

  • tea with a single drop of list, obviously :)

  • what list? I wrote L.S.D! it seems like an allegory of lsd vs. metamphetamine

  • Hmm... i think i will go drink some tea!! >D

  • Guys, this is CULTURE... to quote George Orwell, the Kinks and the Monty Python in one video...

  • That was brilliant!, very strange, very Python, but still great.

  • crazy video! i love it :D

  • More songs about dirty drugs :P

  • Why are sugar cubes featured so prominently in this Yellow-submarinesque video?

    From Wikipedia:

"Historically, LSD solutions were first sold on sugar cubes"
