To be honest, Eastern European music travelled between countries so much, that it all became mixed. Folk, klezmer, polka, gypsy music share music from many countries. Polka or polksa is how the people and music from Poland are referred to in many countries. There is an ancient tradition of traveling musicians from all of Poland, Czech, and many other countries.

Polka is Czech dance which became popular in central Europe. I can't understand why even polish minority in America thinks it's of polish roots:/. Polish folk music are i.e. oberek, kujawiak, polonez etc. I think more interesting sounds. I'd recommend polish metal band Żywiołak based on obereks and others or more folk Orkiestra św. Mikołaja based on folk music of central Poland and west Ukraine.
I lived in San Francisco in 1979 to 1980, and The Toons were a local band featuring wonderful harmonies reminiscent of the Beach Boys. Their style was quite different than this particular song, and they had a quite a following in the local market. They recorded one album at a live concert at the Great American Music Hall in 1980. I have the album and it has some good moments.

Wow the Tunes, these guys were great! only song I know but damn they sell it don't they? and yes episkipos is 100% correct this came out years before Another One Rides the Bus.
Also, instead of "nothing but death, nothing but death, nothing and death and destruction..." it was "nothing but beer, nothing but beer, nothing but beer and pussy!"
@kiya46107 Yes, I know that - I've listened to it many times myself. However, you didn't understand what I posted. Tim changed some of the lyrics for the initiation. Stop being so immediately reactive and read the posts completely.

This piece of fun takes me back. Me and my best friend, Tim, went to the same college. I associated with a frat. Tim used this song as the basis for the song in his initiation. Most of the lyrics he used were the same. The best part was instead of "...turn around and kick your neighbor in the crotch" it was "...turn around and kick a Cresecent in the crotch." "Crescents" were our "little sisters" and a general pain in the ass.
Thanks for posting this. I remember hearing about this song in high school back in the day especially the nothing but death line. Now I've heard the whole thing. Thanks again.

When was this recorded, anyway? It sounds like they're trying to mimic Weird Al's nasal, screaming voice from the early days...
NyeTunes 2 years ago
1980...
This isn't done by Weird Al it's by The Toons.
kiya46107 2 years ago
I never said it was Weird Al... I just said it sounds like they're trying to mimic Al's style at the time.
