Maybe for the first fans more in doom/black metal type something more how could I say, more heavier, this is disapointing. but for fans of melodic/progressive metal this is a masterpiece. Still incorporating some heavier elements here and there...

@CapitalistPhil pretty darn easy, if you were in to their first albums (up to about Elegy, in my case). I'll have to say, that this is about the biggest disappointment ever.. Along with dimmu borgir. But oh well, live and let live, i'm glad some1 likes this hehe

(PT-1) The bands name means without form, or shapeless, so being limited to one style of music would be less than living up to that name. But still there are those who think if you play music it should be all derivative & carbon copy of previous works, yeah. I mean it is not like the whole music thing is about art, & connection to the audience, (you know 'audience', a Latin based word indicating attentive listening).

(PT-2) Music is not only an art but also, for some, it is a lively hood. I suppose that a professionals should be limited to only to the small amount of music one group of fans like. After all who would want to expand their artistically & be marketable while progressive in quality & talent? Surely no other band has changed & evolved over time... surely a dry distinction of monotonous din of drum thumps & 3 power chords is the very definition of "True Metal" yeah?

(PT-3) I applaud the re-innovation & direction, a path of growth & change always knowing where it comes from & reaching for new heights, hopes & heralding the oncoming future with passion. No, that is not 'pop' nor 'selling out', no that is limitless & shapeless, that is the expansion of Amorphis to the next level. Selling out would be producing & reproducing the same things just to fit in, to make a buck or feed the ego for lack of originality & spirit. Amorphis rocks then and now!

Bloody hell... as soon as a band dares to go a little melodic you get a tidal wave of 'purists' sneering about posers and selling out. I like their earlier death metal stuff as much as I do the new more melodic albums- different doesn't mean better or worse
