Why are people comparing Rachel and Melanie like Simon had to choose between the 2? He didn't, he had 4 slots for the live shows and clearly they both deserved it.
Melanie and Rachel are both awesome singers...but Melanie never made any of the songs her own, she was a straight copy. Rachel took every song she was given and put her own little twist or flavor into it. Love that girl!!
I felt that Melanie's song choices were all so similar and although her voice is great she often screams the high notes. I hope her album has more variety than what they gave her to sing on x factor. Even the SB pepsi ad did not showcase her abilities. Maybe it will have new songs written for her rather than all covers?
The smartest decision simon made was sending melanie home because up until this point she didn't have something sooo special that people would be rooting her on for besides her voice. When she was brought back into the competition people definitely knew who she was.
I'm no follower of the X-Factor, but I know about the amazing Amaro. One I didn't know about was Crow. Can somebody tell me what happend to her? Amaro got put back into the competition, but did they throw out Crow then? If so: Fuck the Rules of Engagement... They both should have gone through. Was there really no one more worse than these two to kick out instead?
I love simon cowell, but he did make a mistake here, and the good thing is he realized it and went and surprised melanie. If he hadnt changed his mind, she wouldnt have won x factor!

What a success story for Melanie! Dropped from the competition, only to have the unflappable Simon Cowell realize he made a mistake - and being big enough to admit it and correct it. Kudos to Simon for having the wisdom and vision... without that, America would likely be denied what obviously will be a long and glorious career for Melanie - and a lifetime of entertainment for the American Public.

i think melanie is amazing and im glad she won! she was the best in vocal but in like personality and stuff like that i think rachel has it!! i love them both and i think simon sent melanie homeis because when he said he has to work with people he can make a star melanie stayed with the same songs no upbeat ones and rachel did everything that why i think he saent her home ithink is she didnt come back rachle would of won!!

To be honest, Melanie is too far from Leona Lewis because she has no octaves and whistle registers. Also, she has no star factor or she just look average. That's why she was almost sent home by Simon Cowell during the top 8 girls in his house in France. Simon gambled by choosing Tiah Tolliver and Simon Battle over her because the "diva" singing is not the trend now in the music scene. What happened to the careers of Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Jordin Sparks, Alexandra Burke, etc.

I think the most important thing when you sing a song is that the audiences can feel your emotion in every words or not. I think you should once again listen to the song "If I were a boy" when Rachel sang in the boot-camp round because there is not only me crying when listening to that song. How amazing! @Bon2kute - it's my own opinion becuase I cried when Melanie sang "Listen" and "I have Nothing"...and I believe there are many audience who cried too! Did you just hear how crazy the audience was after her performance? It was such an amazing moment for her and for the show. Don't get me wrong, I find everyone on the show deserving...but Melanie is the best SINGER and you can't deny that.
Melanie in my opinion is 2nd best right after the beautiful and and angelic Drew Ryniewicz!!!! Rachel is amazing, cute, likable and very talented but who would buy a record of 13 years old except for really young teenagers?! i hope she'll do well on the show cause she deserves it but i really hope it would come at the expense of other great contestens like Melanie or Stacy!

@MasterPiece7771 i totally disagree. look at the beiber obsession that has ensued today and justin wasn't any older than rachel is now when he started. i definetly beleif that this girl can go far. for the other girl she didnt have as much spark as rachel does. i truly beleive in her :)

@VICTORXU1 She is back and is now in the 12. Simon regreted it and admitted he made a mistake. The other three judges agreed and allowed him to bring her back. Search her live performance she sang I have nothing by whitney houston and was AMAZING!

@chelilandia No ! She back on the show, He said he made a big mistake and went to her place to get her and bring her back if she would agree.
I believe he did it for ratings and knew he would bring her back, but the way he diid was sad as he broke her heart once, I'd hate to see it happen again.
I knew he'd place her in his final 3 after the first show, by what he said to her family at her home.

melanie is just the best!!! Her voice can go places!!! She can surely sing almost any type of songs!!! Drew is great but she can't sing songs that Melanie sings, let Melanie sing Drew's songs, and for sure she will be able to...!!!

@yan143cal of course that Melanie can sing the Rachel's songs but can she touch the audiences' heart or make them cry as Rachel did? I think the most important thing when you sing a song is that the audiences can feel your emotion in every words or not. I think you should once again listen to the song "If I were a boy" when Rachel sang in the boot-camp round because there is not only me crying when listening to that song. How amazing! You should listen by heart, not listen by ears. Ngốc!

@Bon2kute - it's my own opinion becuase I cried when Melanie sang "Listen" and "I have Nothing"...and I believe there are many audience who cried too! Did you just hear how crazy the audience was after her performance? It was such an amazing moment for her and for the show. Don't get me wrong, I find everyone on the show deserving...but Melanie is the best SINGER and you can't deny that.

Melanie in my opinion is 2nd best right after the beautiful and and angelic Drew Ryniewicz!!!! Drew has that angel voice that I could listen to all day long, I agree melanie has a monster voice but Drews voice is too beautiful and smooth and the way she interprets songs is amazing, so genuine, cute and real!!!TEAM DREW BABY!!!!!!
