  • Hi guys good video. I have one big question for you and I hope you can help me.

What do I have to do to get a contractor license, do I have to go to trade school or what? I am in Texas, I have been working on all sorts of things but never thought about getting a contractor license. Can you please help me out and guide me in the right direction.

  • @superfluteman1 It depends on the State, and the building codes for that State. Here in California, Joe had to take a test for the California Contractors Labor Board. You have to know everything, and I do mean everything about building, full on master builder kind of stuff. But it does vary from state to state, California is just the highest code inforced state.

  • @danbethel Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

  • @superfluteman1 You also have to carry a million dollar bond, incase of mishaps. You are also responsible for the building for 10 years. Meaning, say in 5 years there is a crack in the stucco, if the home owner files an insurance defect claim, you have to fix it. It doesn't matter if they treat the house like a bad dog, for 10 years, you have to fix it, out of pocket if they file a claim.

  • Hey Dan and Joe. Happy 4th July from England dudes......hope you get it all sorted and back to doin BBHR soon aye.

    Regards

    Derek

  • Thanks Derek, Joe is supposed to get his contractors license in the next 8 days. We have multiple jobs lined up, so after we get the green light from the state, there will be some extra money for a camera, as soon as we catch up on these bills, lol. I hoping for no more than 3 months to get it all sorted out, but more than likely, it will be sooner.

  • Hey Dan, great job on the Pergola dude....hope you don't mind a tip, you said about coating up the posts on the ground.....how about tapping a 4" nail in each end, then stand the nail on an axle stand either end so its like a spit...can spin it to paint it..and it all dries at once.....just a thought, keep up the good work guys...(P.S...put Joe on camera more, i love his gripin' and belly achin'...lol...)

  • hi the camera broke thats why you aint uploaded any vids for a day or two

  • It's still busted, this was the last video recorded. The camera I had has now been dicontinued, the newer model is around $300

  • cant you buy one on ebay ???

  • Not at this time. Joe and I are starting a company, so the camera isn't on the list of things to buy right now. Plus I need the warrante, the program, and all the crap to make the show. The one I want would for go all the program issues. Plus I'm poor. If we didn't build that pergola, we would have missed rent and been homeless.....

  • what up with bethel brathers hot rod ? I love that show

  • My camera broke right after I got done editing this footage. Joe and I are starting Bethel Construction, and after a few jobs, I plan to get another, maybe even better camera. Until then............

  • That sucks! I love watching your vids. Anywho, great work you guys are doing there!

  • You guys work faster than many others. Here in Florida you see guys spend three or four days on what you did in two.

  • Thanks

  • another happy customer for sure.

  • to bad the camera broke, when it was done, they gasped, and they all wanted to use it right away, fired up the BBQ, and pulled out the drinks. Joe and I passed on the drinks.
