Hi guys good video. I have one big question for you and I hope you can help me.
What do I have to do to get a contractor license, do I have to go to trade school or what? I am in Texas, I have been working on all sorts of things but never thought about getting a contractor license. Can you please help me out and guide me in the right direction.
@superfluteman1 It depends on the State, and the building codes for that State. Here in California, Joe had to take a test for the California Contractors Labor Board. You have to know everything, and I do mean everything about building, full on master builder kind of stuff. But it does vary from state to state, California is just the highest code inforced state.
@superfluteman1 You also have to carry a million dollar bond, incase of mishaps. You are also responsible for the building for 10 years. Meaning, say in 5 years there is a crack in the stucco, if the home owner files an insurance defect claim, you have to fix it. It doesn't matter if they treat the house like a bad dog, for 10 years, you have to fix it, out of pocket if they file a claim.
Thanks Derek, Joe is supposed to get his contractors license in the next 8 days. We have multiple jobs lined up, so after we get the green light from the state, there will be some extra money for a camera, as soon as we catch up on these bills, lol. I hoping for no more than 3 months to get it all sorted out, but more than likely, it will be sooner.
Hey Dan, great job on the Pergola dude....hope you don't mind a tip, you said about coating up the posts on the ground.....how about tapping a 4" nail in each end, then stand the nail on an axle stand either end so its like a spit...can spin it to paint it..and it all dries at once.....just a thought, keep up the good work guys...(P.S...put Joe on camera more, i love his gripin' and belly achin'...lol...)
Not at this time. Joe and I are starting a company, so the camera isn't on the list of things to buy right now. Plus I need the warrante, the program, and all the crap to make the show. The one I want would for go all the program issues. Plus I'm poor. If we didn't build that pergola, we would have missed rent and been homeless.....
My camera broke right after I got done editing this footage. Joe and I are starting Bethel Construction, and after a few jobs, I plan to get another, maybe even better camera. Until then............
to bad the camera broke, when it was done, they gasped, and they all wanted to use it right away, fired up the BBQ, and pulled out the drinks. Joe and I passed on the drinks.
