Cracked exhaust manifold. After 4 years of ticking on my Mustang I finally got it fixed. Replaced the right exhaust manifold, cost about $270. The car drives completely different. It so much smoother and the engine is quiet. The exhaust isn't as loud as it was, but it sounds really smooth. The driver side still ticks upon start up for a few secs, but once warmed up it's gone. I'm going to place the driver side manifold later on this summer. It's just going to get worse if I don't.
First check your exhaust at the manifold. hold a lighter up to it, if it goes out, you have a leak... check out my channel and you can listen to mine. there's also a vid on how to replace the rods with longer one-piece chromoly ones... also run a can of seafoam through the oil for about 500-1000 miles. This will help free any stuck lifters. hope this helps if you haven't already fixed it.
