  • The piano is so good in this song it's Hornsbyesque!

  • classicsea i agree i seen seger live back in 96 he puts on a great show and his music shows how much he understands the working class his music is all about the working class even tho when i sa whim there were tons of bikers there lol

  • kopfhörer auf und dann wegfliegen...........he´s so great...always love him and springsteen and petty and mellencamp...they were my guards through the last 30 years...

  • the pedal to the metal when i play this song jn my car.another ticket what the f..k

  • The best part of this video is the clip of Bob playing guitar with the image of the woman dancing in its reflection. I love the metronome in it too great touch.

  • I love replay!!!! :D

  • I'm on fire Bruce Springsteen

  • musica rock ciento unica gracias rock 101 mexico

  • when music was music!!

  • @timmayblanka

They both shine in different categories. Also I know way more Springsteen than Seger and I'm 18. So go be so proud of yourself be "young" :P

  • this was a comeback for him - Like a Rock was 5 years prior. By 91, music had really changed, I expected him to come out with an awful album. Amazingly, this was as good as Stranger In Town, etc.

  • @Caseysterly I am so jealous. (Even though I'm straight) The guys pretty cool. I was sitting at a light in Grand Blanc yrs ago and he pulled up next to me. He did that cool head nod like, "Yeah baby!'.

  • Check his Facebook page. He is posting release dates all the time. He keeps it up to date. I'm from Michigan and so is Bob Seger. :)

  • I see Bob about once a month where I work in northern Michigan. He comes in and eats at the Dam Site Inn..He has a really nice motorcycle

  • One of my favourite songs ever this.

  • bob is a pure music supa nova

  • Seger is the man! there is no comparison! seger way better then springsteen or whoever older guy you want to throw out there. and hes a very classy person. listen to kid rock talk aout him. youll learn more. also i know alot more seger then springsteen. and im 32

  • Springsteen is extremely passionate with his music and you can tell by his lyrics. Seger is spectacular and so is the Boss! But Springsteen gets me thinking every time. And the performances he puts on are wild as well as very touching. Just his voice and the way he sings is something that can't be imitated, unlike Seger.

  • Seger is a master at putting meaningful lyrics to great music. This song(and most of his others)seem to be so fitting. So much like the lives of most of us.His music always brings me back to great times and great days past.

He is so so under rated.

Springsteens good, but to me Seger is superior. He's much more than just a good rocker,he touches your soul and lifts your spirit.

  • @classicseacraft I never understood why he is overlooked by so many. His writing ability alone sets him way up there with anybody. Then the passion in the way he sings those soulful lyrics. GO FIGURE.

  • @classicseacraft 100% agreed my friend, 100%

  • 20 years since this song, 25 years since Like a Rock..........Looking forward to the chance to see Bob Seger this fall......

  • we love you Bob, rock on, thanks for posting this song;))

  • Bob Segar is by far one of the greatest lyricists of all time.

  • How can this only have 240,000 hits- this is awesome.

  • Provocative, Sexy and physically stimulating! Ok that's not this album, but it's pretty dam good Rock N Roll, , check it out!

Unplugged Rock 'N' Roller by Greg Roller

  • i think he has the biggest soul of any 2 people just volumes of meaning.....wow

  • Thanks! Very good song. Mr. Seeger, still waiting to see you and the Siver Bullet band in Germany! Maybe Hambug in 2012 ??? Thumbs up !

  • My fav Seger song..I was disappointed when he didn't play this at the concert at the palace....:(

  • I love this man! One of my all time favorite singers since I was a little girl! Thanks for posting.. :)

  • bob is the best thing since sliced bread...of course along with rod stewart and john fogerty i love em all

  • Grew up with that stuff and always getting goosebumps when I listen to this.

Besides 'Like a Rock' my absolute favourite by Bob Seger.

  • Makes me remember how I was sitting on my dads ol' couch listening to this with his huge headphones...the good ol' times...

  • it's is what it is

  • @qedwards4300 and thats all that it is;...

  • Awesome Tune.

  • Bob Seger is the best...Period. Saw him last week in concert and he still puts on a great show....the guy is AWESOME...and his music is the BEST. Seger is the BEST EVER!!!!

  • Bob Seger Rocks this song is especially bouncy.Classic Rock is the best.

  • @TheTeflonJohn1 An old co-worker recommended to me Bob Seger's Greatest Hits. This was well over 10 years ago. I was completed blown away. This is easily my favorite track. The video doesn't do justice to the song (and the video is great). When you close your eyes and listen...damn... My favorite line is "They hold one another just a little too long, and they move apart and then move on. On to the street. On to the next. Safe in the knowledge that they 'tried' ".

  • If ya don't like Bob, put a gun to yer head. Soulful, hits that spot. Easy way to commit suicide, go to Hooters on bike night and yell BOB SEGER SUCKS!

  • @tecgaston Still laughing my ass off. thumbs up

  • Great song. As far as the video goes though, I never thought that having lots of shots of glamorous fashion models fit in real well with Bob's midwest persona or lyrics. I mean understand the desire to put a hot chick in the video but I think the video creators would've better off doing a Mellencamp kinda thing & showing mostly everyday people rather than upper class model types.

  • @vodude i think the models go well with what the song is talking about, because we judge models and glamourous people as people who are beautiful and nothing else but their could be a fire inside that we dont know about. we see these beautiful people at clubs dancing, walking down the street, and have one night stands with some of them. And we are quick to say they are hot but finding the "fire inside" is harder. And i think the Model is a perfect symbol of that.

  • @vodude Well I hate to brake it to you but one of, or, no my best friend is a model and she is ordinary. I take that back she is extra ordinary. She is a special kind of lady. She is a human being that just happens to have the looks to match her beautiful soul.

  • was driving up from london to glasgow and my mate put thi on i had to go out and bye it as soon as i got there love bob seger

  • I,ve never seen that statue.

  • going to see him tomorrow!!!!!!!!! I cannot wait!

  • I get to see him in concert in 2 days! so excited, hopefully he sings this song!

  • Highest rating I have seen yet at 140.66666666

  • For me this guy is the greatest thing to come out of the US. I`m from Liverpool UK and was was introduced to Bob as young boy by my Dad. Amazing soul touching tracks that leave a deep imprint.

  • @TheTeflonJohn1 110% correct. Got into Seger 'cause of my dad. Went to see him march and april this year. Everything we dreamed it would be. Springsteen etc couldn't hold a candle to Seger.

  • @eh82007 No need to be like that!I love Bob too,but it's not a case of either or.Of course Bruce (the Boss)can hold a candle to him,you obviously just prefer Bob.I love Bruce too,he's legendary live;I've seen him a few times but never seen Seger live.

  • @TheTeflonJohn1 Me too!

  • great this one just love it xxxxx

  • Very well written song...pure genius. Truly observant of " Human Moves". Bob Seger is an all time great. Best Regards

  • cest la vie. fire inside indeed . live indeed love it indeed

  • Man, the lyrics, the voice, just excellent! I played this song nearly every single day around late '91/early '92. I had taped it off the radio in Detroit from Q 95.5 "cozy ehhhhf ehhhhm, as the jingle went" or 100.3 WNIC, can't remember but it was definitely one of them. Great times!

  • @mrberryv

Well said. I felt the same about it was an instant classic loved to test speakers listening to this tune. Seger's voice is second to none and is a talented writer as well. One of the greats.

  • How can a song with such an "up-beat" rhythm be so freaking SAD?

  • This song is my ALL time favorite bob seger song!!! it always gets my blood flowing!!! LOVE IT!

  • This song rocks... it was written the year I was born. Fantastic tune too :-)

  • boy just thinking about the journey of life and how well this song fits into them

  • bob just come to charlotte NC before you retire for good we a good old school concert

  • @mrtubeme101 hes coming to greensboro easter weekend. my dads going.

  • wehn he writes a song damn it is good but it takes him a while

  • This is one of those song that you just have to know the lyrics to. It's such and amazing song and the lyrics are so well written. Bob Seger write his music in a way that no other musician can come close to; he's the best.

  • This song is awesome! Real life! Bob Seger is the greatest!

  • Gonna see Bob in Kansas City !! All Hail Bob Seger !!

  • he's da man ... nobody rocks like SEGER ....got tic's for toledo and cleveland ...long live bob

  • this song makes me strong.

  • My most favorite Bob Seger song EVER!!!

  • since so many years one of my most favorite songs...great

  • Best. Song. Ever. Period.

  • BURNIN YOU UP! - BURNIN YOU UP! FIIIRE INSIDE <3 :)

  • Don't ya just love Bob Seger?...touring again in 2011, just announced this week. catch him if you can, I have had the great honor of seeing him twice, still pouring his heart out, fantastic shows....a huge heartfelt TY for touring again Bob!

  • Despite the fact this album didn't do as well as Bob's other, in my opinion it was one of his best. The list of guest stars helping him out would have filled the bill at an all day concert.

  • alot of memories :) all good

  • ho w many bands have 20 songs you have heard b before

  • @XxUpInTheSkyXx

    Pink Floyd?

  • Wow two people really really have no taste in music what so ever!

  • @magicmark1292

    the pussys dont appreciate

  • @HollandseHasjieman

    Hahaha hell no they don't.

  • @magicmark1292 They have no taste. This song is amazing. End of story lol

  • @AntiSilence666

All I have to say is agreed!

  • youth and beauty are gone one day 3:37 -3:38 No words more true

  • mooi duet met wibi

  • Great song, but this is the short version. The wonderful piano solo by professor Roy Bittan is cut off.

  • In this song you can hear the words not like modern songs

  • One of my favorite songs ever. I feel it to my soul every time I hear it.

  • I always liked the rhythm of this song. For years I never paid much attention to the lyrics. The irony of that just dawned on me. Now whenever I hear it it reminds me to check my authenticity. To me, Bob Seger is the greatest songwriter that has ever drawn a breath.

  • Two people don't know good music.

  • This is possibly *the* best song ever made... Ever... For me anyways lol

  • mom played this

  • "Dreams die hard and we watch the erode but we can be denied...the fire inside", great commentary on sociobiology.

  • great lyrics how true

  • great song! need i say more? even if it deserves so!

  • "safe in the knowledge that they tried" wow

  • I love this song, but I love everyone of Bob Seger's songs. It just sounds like he's singing to you and to your soul

  • Is it possible for bob seger to not writea song that gets you to your core?

  • ...searching our eyes, looking for clues...there's no way we can hide...THE FIRE INSIDE! I love all this song except the end...I prefer..."They hold one another just a little too long and they move apart and then move on" Always together...FIRE INSIDE.

  • @bluejeansheart

You are right bad endings cant go with cool songs, I agree........

  • Dreams die hard and we watch them erode but we cannot be denied!

  • that dude @ 1:45 looks like Jimmy Keefe, From Rescue Me.

  • Bob Seger should be up there with the rolling stones, bob dylan etc,

  • @Montreal1101 He is, in my book!. :)

  • Bob Seger fans: With all his great songs, did you know he only had ONE number one song? And in my opinion, is no where near his best song: "Shakedown" from Beverly Hills Cop II and only ONE #1 album: "Against the Wind" which the title track only made it to #5. Sad sad sad for such a great musician.

  • @ezelder Just proveds that "popular" is not always the best!

  • @booknplays Very true. And also proves that talent is not always recognized by the industry because, the industry is about a profit, not the music. Hence the reason Prince left the mainstream. he got tired of people getting rich off his work. . .

  • real song and singer, end of chat...........

  • Seger has some really great songs.

  • Great lyrics and artist. Thank you for posting.

  • i got his cd it awesome

  • One of the greatest songs ever written

  • Awesome underrated song from Bob Seger! Great piano work from Roy Bittan of the E Street Band, just like in Even Now, which was another underrated song.

  • @49erron Such a simple piano riff but so key to the song! You know, Springsteen's covered RGM and Get out of Denver in the past, doing mediocre jobs at best. If he wants to cover Seger, he should look to songs like this one. He'd kick ass on Fire Inside or Even Now.

  • by far my favorite bob seger song! i love the piano. . .

  • Love it !

  • this is my absolute favorite song of his!!! i freaking jam out to bob seger!! ahhhh i loooove it!! =))

  • Love this song

  • This is the best music ever. No one beats B Seger in my mind... My mp3 player is mostly him and I never tire of it. It always shines. I will never tire of your voice...

  • Bob Seger Rocks!

  • Still burning inside though, there's a lot more to do. Yet to be impressed!

  • BOB SEGER MADE SOME OF THE GREATEST MUSIC EVER.

  • can't believe i've never seen this video!

  • Bob Seger = Real Rock 'n' Roll

  • Burns on and on

  • dreams die hard and we watch them erode, but we cannot be deniiiiied- -

    the fiiiire inside!!!!!!!!!

  • gawd I love this song <3

  • My fave seger tune

  • @BillyBurnetteFan It might be mine too;)

  • Thank U Bob 4 All the Good Times . I got more loving to Seger than any other artist/Rocker....He is MAGIC .....I'm 60 now ,,,HaHA he still works :)) The Greatest ...

  • i love this song, it has such a rawness to it.

  • Happy Birthday Bob Segar!

  • Great damn song:)

  • it be cool they put this on rock band

  • The way Bob writees he paints a picture in your head, you don't really even need a video, his words are so clear and precise, you can see the story he is telling. He is so very under-rated and thats to bad.

  • @rymanhouse Not in my book, I love Bob Seger, he is truly an amazing artist.

  • @rymanhouse you are right he is underated on the world stage but all of his recent shows in MI sold out in less than 6 min...long live Michigan rock!

  • i love playing the piano for this song :)

  • Great Song! One of Bob's finest!

  • Awesome post! Such a great song!

Thank you and to Jens for sharing!

  • amazing tune wooo

  • If you don't like what you see here, maybe you should take your own advise.

Those that come here WANT to see what we're looking at AND, we LOVE Seger!

  • and the Native Americans wish you'd get the fuck out of here

  • Simple emotion, something about Seger puts me back in my 79 Firebird ready to f***, fight , party and take a road trip. I beg the playstation generation to slap Bob in the deck and live life.

  • Seger! An American Icon!!

  • Used to love coming home and just play the hell out of the drums to this song. Now my son is playing it almost 20 years later. Only he plays the drums, piano, bass, and guitar. Remarkable how he learned from me listening to Bobs old CD's and Records.

  • simplesmente uma das mais lindas musicas que ouvi, onde vou ela vai junto!! grande Bob Seger!!

  • Hard to find a song that has so much introspective lyrical truth and the correct passion and instrumentation behind it, as this.

  • @curtjester1

    so true, brother, so true....

  • Great song one of the best songs ever in my life time i love this song...The fire inside

  • what a great post of Seger in his prime . country was great ,Americans where great people and Bob Seger's music drove many of us day and night . GREAT VIDEO maralboombox . txs

  • A long time ago, I bought his greatest hits on a recommendation from a co-worker. I was floored by his music. I've been to alot of karaoke joints and bars with jukeboxes but, for some reason, even if they have his albums, they never seems to have this song. I don't know why. I have never, ever, seen this video until now. My deepest, heart felt thanks for posting. I didn't think it was possible, but now this song is better with visuals from the artists perspective. Again, thank you.

  • Bob Seger's great, but is he stalking that lady in this video? And he just seems out of place in New York City.

  • Excellent video. Without par. My congratulations to you Bob.

  • lol masterpiece

  • a masterpirce ...the best band in the land

  • Oh yeah, the phony posers, those who deal ya from the bottom of the deck o'promises, huh? I know 'em all! I've always loved this one tune! on to the next? Let's see... next would be Shakedown or Against the Wind... hard choice to make, but the hour's late!

  • Traveling man/ beutiful loser....thats where you go next. Then maybe Still the Same!!!!!

  • love Seger and this is his best -the lyrics are so great and the piano is the hook

  • WOW,never saw the vid.VERY underrated song.Has it all.Billy Payne on those keys!

  • Actually according to the liner notes it's Roy Bitten (of the East Street Band) on the piano

  • The man is genius.

  • love his music - he never fails . this is great

  • yers yes yes oh yes!!

  • loveit****

  • My favorite Seger song.

Seeing the Trade Towers in the b.g. makes this more of a melancholy video.

Shame, too, about all the smoking in the video, but it does add atmosphere.

  • Who IS the blonde?

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • I apologize! Bob was my FOURTH concert! After YES, the Cars and Rush. Sorry!

  • i wish i were that talented!!

  • having the professor on your song is always a plus.one of my favorite songs because of the harsh lyrics, very real and gritty.

  • Bob was the third concert I ever saw, after The Cars and Rush.

  • He was the first concert I ever saw! ;)

In 1967...at a National Guard Armory...with maybe a hundred people in the audience. Just starting out...but already amazing.

  • At 0:25 it looks like he is walking around in long-johns!
