classicsea i agree i seen seger live back in 96 he puts on a great show and his music shows how much he understands the working class his music is all about the working class even tho when i sa whim there were tons of bikers there lol
kopfhörer auf und dann wegfliegen...........he´s so great...always love him and springsteen and petty and mellencamp...they were my guards through the last 30 years...
The best part of this video is the clip of Bob playing guitar with the image of the woman dancing in its reflection. I love the metronome in it too great touch.
this was a comeback for him - Like a Rock was 5 years prior. By 91, music had really changed, I expected him to come out with an awful album. Amazingly, this was as good as Stranger In Town, etc.
@Caseysterly I am so jealous. (Even though I'm straight) The guys pretty cool. I was sitting at a light in Grand Blanc yrs ago and he pulled up next to me. He did that cool head nod like, "Yeah baby!'.
Seger is the man! there is no comparison! seger way better then springsteen or whoever older guy you want to throw out there. and hes a very classy person. listen to kid rock talk aout him. youll learn more. also i know alot more seger then springsteen. and im 32
Springsteen is extremely passionate with his music and you can tell by his lyrics. Seger is spectacular and so is the Boss! But Springsteen gets me thinking every time. And the performances he puts on are wild as well as very touching. Just his voice and the way he sings is something that can't be imitated, unlike Seger.
Seger is a master at putting meaningful lyrics to great music. This song(and most of his others)seem to be so fitting. So much like the lives of most of us.His music always brings me back to great times and great days past.
He is so so under rated.
Springsteens good, but to me Seger is superior. He's much more than just a good rocker,he touches your soul and lifts your spirit.
@classicseacraft I never understood why he is overlooked by so many. His writing ability alone sets him way up there with anybody. Then the passion in the way he sings those soulful lyrics. GO FIGURE.
Bob Seger is the best...Period. Saw him last week in concert and he still puts on a great show....the guy is AWESOME...and his music is the BEST. Seger is the BEST EVER!!!!
@TheTeflonJohn1 An old co-worker recommended to me Bob Seger's Greatest Hits. This was well over 10 years ago. I was completed blown away. This is easily my favorite track. The video doesn't do justice to the song (and the video is great). When you close your eyes and listen...damn... My favorite line is "They hold one another just a little too long, and they move apart and then move on. On to the street. On to the next. Safe in the knowledge that they 'tried' ".
If ya don't like Bob, put a gun to yer head. Soulful, hits that spot. Easy way to commit suicide, go to Hooters on bike night and yell BOB SEGER SUCKS!
CHECK OUT MY CHANNEL FOR MUSIC YOU HAVE TO HEAR!! IM HAPPY TO WORK WITH SINGERS, RAPPERS, DJS, PRODUCERS ANYONE WHO HAS ANY ASSOCIATION WITH MUSIC JUST DROP ME A MESSAGE YOU WONT BE DISSAPOINTED THANK YOU :)
Great song. As far as the video goes though, I never thought that having lots of shots of glamorous fashion models fit in real well with Bob's midwest persona or lyrics. I mean understand the desire to put a hot chick in the video but I think the video creators would've better off doing a Mellencamp kinda thing & showing mostly everyday people rather than upper class model types.
@vodude i think the models go well with what the song is talking about, because we judge models and glamourous people as people who are beautiful and nothing else but their could be a fire inside that we dont know about. we see these beautiful people at clubs dancing, walking down the street, and have one night stands with some of them. And we are quick to say they are hot but finding the "fire inside" is harder. And i think the Model is a perfect symbol of that.
@vodude Well I hate to brake it to you but one of, or, no my best friend is a model and she is ordinary. I take that back she is extra ordinary. She is a special kind of lady. She is a human being that just happens to have the looks to match her beautiful soul.
Hey everyone I just discovered something great. work out the like v dislike ratio of good music to stupid music(~i.e. lady gaga) by dividing dislikes into likes and that gives you the ratio:1. It totally proves that good music is just that, good. so next time someone says 50cent is better than muse say just go and mathimatically prove them wrong :)

For me this guy is the greatest thing to come out of the US. I`m from Liverpool UK and was was introduced to Bob as young boy by my Dad. Amazing soul touching tracks that leave a deep imprint.
@TheTeflonJohn1 110% correct. Got into Seger 'cause of my dad. Went to see him march and april this year. Everything we dreamed it would be. Springsteen etc couldn't hold a candle to Seger.
@eh82007 No need to be like that!I love Bob too,but it's not a case of either or.Of course Bruce (the Boss)can hold a candle to him,you obviously just prefer Bob.I love Bruce too,he's legendary live;I've seen him a few times but never seen Seger live.
Man, the lyrics, the voice, just excellent! I played this song nearly every single day around late '91/early '92. I had taped it off the radio in Detroit from Q 95.5 "cozy ehhhhf ehhhhm, as the jingle went" or 100.3 WNIC, can't remember but it was definitely one of them. Great times!
Well said. I felt the same about it was an instant classic loved to test speakers listening to this tune. Seger's voice is second to none and is a talented writer as well. One of the greats.
This is one of those song that you just have to know the lyrics to. It's such and amazing song and the lyrics are so well written. Bob Seger write his music in a way that no other musician can come close to; he's the best.
Don't ya just love Bob Seger?...touring again in 2011, just announced this week. catch him if you can, I have had the great honor of seeing him twice, still pouring his heart out, fantastic shows....a huge heartfelt TY for touring again Bob!
Despite the fact this album didn't do as well as Bob's other, in my opinion it was one of his best. The list of guest stars helping him out would have filled the bill at an all day concert.
I always liked the rhythm of this song. For years I never paid much attention to the lyrics. The irony of that just dawned on me. Now whenever I hear it it reminds me to check my authenticity. To me, Bob Seger is the greatest songwriter that has ever drawn a breath.
...searching our eyes, looking for clues...there's no way we can hide...THE FIRE INSIDE! I love all this song except the end...I prefer..."They hold one another just a little too long and they move apart and then move on" Always together...FIRE INSIDE.
Bob Seger fans: With all his great songs, did you know he only had ONE number one song? And in my opinion, is no where near his best song: "Shakedown" from Beverly Hills Cop II and only ONE #1 album: "Against the Wind" which the title track only made it to #5. Sad sad sad for such a great musician.
@booknplays Very true. And also proves that talent is not always recognized by the industry because, the industry is about a profit, not the music. Hence the reason Prince left the mainstream. he got tired of people getting rich off his work. . .
Awesome underrated song from Bob Seger! Great piano work from Roy Bittan of the E Street Band, just like in Even Now, which was another underrated song.
@49erron Such a simple piano riff but so key to the song! You know, Springsteen's covered RGM and Get out of Denver in the past, doing mediocre jobs at best. If he wants to cover Seger, he should look to songs like this one. He'd kick ass on Fire Inside or Even Now.
This is the best music ever. No one beats B Seger in my mind... My mp3 player is mostly him and I never tire of it. It always shines. I will never tire of your voice...
Thank U Bob 4 All the Good Times . I got more loving to Seger than any other artist/Rocker....He is MAGIC .....I'm 60 now ,,,HaHA he still works :)) The Greatest ...
The way Bob writees he paints a picture in your head, you don't really even need a video, his words are so clear and precise, you can see the story he is telling. He is so very under-rated and thats to bad.
Simple emotion, something about Seger puts me back in my 79 Firebird ready to f***, fight , party and take a road trip. I beg the playstation generation to slap Bob in the deck and live life.
Used to love coming home and just play the hell out of the drums to this song. Now my son is playing it almost 20 years later. Only he plays the drums, piano, bass, and guitar. Remarkable how he learned from me listening to Bobs old CD's and Records.
what a great post of Seger in his prime . country was great ,Americans where great people and Bob Seger's music drove many of us day and night . GREAT VIDEO maralboombox . txs
A long time ago, I bought his greatest hits on a recommendation from a co-worker. I was floored by his music. I've been to alot of karaoke joints and bars with jukeboxes but, for some reason, even if they have his albums, they never seems to have this song. I don't know why. I have never, ever, seen this video until now. My deepest, heart felt thanks for posting. I didn't think it was possible, but now this song is better with visuals from the artists perspective. Again, thank you.
Oh yeah, the phony posers, those who deal ya from the bottom of the deck o'promises, huh? I know 'em all! I've always loved this one tune! on to the next? Let's see... next would be Shakedown or Against the Wind... hard choice to make, but the hour's late!
The piano is so good in this song it's Hornsbyesque!

The way Bob writees he paints a picture in your head, you don't really even need a video, his words are so clear and precise, you can see the story he is telling. He is so very under-rated and thats to bad.

@rymanhouse Not in my book, I love Bob Seger, he is truly an amazing artist.

@rymanhouse you are right he is underated on the world stage but all of his recent shows in MI sold out in less than 6 min...long live Michigan rock!

If you don't like what you see here, maybe you should take your own advise.
Those that come here WANT to see what we're looking at AND, we LOVE Seger!

Hard to find a song that has so much introspective lyrical truth and the correct passion and instrumentation behind it, as this.

Bob Seger's great, but is he stalking that lady in this video? And he just seems out of place in New York City.

My favorite Seger song.
Seeing the Trade Towers in the b.g. makes this more of a melancholy video.
Shame, too, about all the smoking in the video, but it does add atmosphere.

He was the first concert I ever saw! ;)
In 1967...at a National Guard Armory...with maybe a hundred people in the audience. Just starting out...but already amazing.
