  • I just can feel the pain *tear drop*

  • @urwutudowhenitcounts Thank you very much. This song is just so perfect for my feelings of all of it. And I'm not usually sappy about songs. I think, knowing the movie as well, it's even sadder for me, because I can feel the desperation Jackman's character had to save his love. Sometimes this song comforts me, though, instead of just putting me in "that mood". Thank you again, it's very kind of you. Christine

  • You pulled me through time...

  • My 18 year-old son died last April. I had already seen the movie, and now I "feel" it even more. This song moves me in such a way. The loss. It's immense. I just wish I were acting like Hugh Jackman, and not living the real thing. Beautiful song.

  • @ChiefWP may ur son rest in peace .... he is there watchin u and smilin :)

  • @TheClaycreatures Thank you so much. <3

  • @ChiefWP u r very welcome ... inshallah i will make prayers for him

  • @TheClaycreatures Thank you very much for that.

  • Every time i see that scene i cry like a little baby. And feel proud of this.

  • There is a place on youtube I come to, youtube is like a person, a person I can talk to and get the peace of mind I need. This is one such place.

  • Critics said quite bad about this movie, but it's still one of my favourite ever

  • This video is so well put together - I can hardly listen to the track without watching the scenes show here, they capture the essence of the movie and of the track perfectly!

  • Mansell is a fucking genius

  • @MythicShot amen

  • life. love. death. <-the fountain

  • One of my favorite movie of all time. Watched it like 6 or 7 times, always something new to discover and always stunned by the movie and the score!

  • @91maffnew try and find a primary source the cites the existence of one, "jesus christ" during the time he was allegedly alive. There were numerous historians, not one mentions is existence. Its likely he never even existed.

  • @utukk Tacitus, Josephus, Lucian, Suetonius, Pliny the Younger, Thallus, The Jewish Talmud, Josephus being a first century Jewish historian. Also what do you think happens to historical records when the Romans sacked jerusalem?

  • @NAR106 Yes look at the actual references, none to jesus christ, rather christos or christ, which means the anointed one. Rather than "jesus christ of nazareth", Only jospehus makes reference, and his account is unreliable since many of his writings have been proved to be forgeries.

  • @utukk so references to the Christ don't count? You ignore Jospehus by assuming all writings are forgeries, or at least should unless you ignore selectively, and let's just disregard the thousands who lived in Israel at the time and would've been able to discount the belief "oh that guy doesn't exist" when people preached he died in Jerusalem during Passover, Jerusalem being one of the most crowded city in Israel for that holiday. It would've been a short lived religion it that was the case

  • @NAR106 Josephus was born several decades after the alleged events of the N.T., and all he ever wrote was: "There's a bunch of people called Christians, who worship someone they call Christ, whom they say did this and that." Stop cutting and pasting old arguments from Christian blogs; it's unoriginal and does nothing for your case but make you look stupid.

  • My story is coming to an end and i am scared but i know the love i have for my wife and son will live forever! I am trying to accept it but life is hard to let go.

  • @stagehandbob i am sending you my love. A stranger to a stranger!

  • @cseychell Thank you. x

  • this movie was so weird. I wasn't really able to respect it until i saw it twice

  • beautiful

  • I want to find my own Tommy. That character loves her so much he follows her through time.

  • i could never live forever, because i couldn´t stand it to let my family and my friends behind ... even if i had the choice to die here and now or to live forever in eternity, i would choose the death here and now, because there is no one that would follow me and go beside me through time and space eternally

  • .... a so very great song ... great movie .... great feelings coming up ... the feeling of forever is felt the best, if we stay in exactly THAT moment every moment ... hard to achieve, I know ... but some times its happening and then we forget time and space .... and after it, when we wake ... we think of the beloved one, for sure this is the very next thought - everytime ... ! Love, DZ

  • is enernal life so great when your spending it alone

  • Beautiful. You have convinced me into purchasing the movie.

  • This brings forth feelings within me that I have yet to embrace and acknowledge. They are peaceful, yet sad. Something indescribable...

  • I love it.

  • Hugh Jackman found something worth crying over.

  • I SAW PARTS OF THAT FILM!

  • If only I were born later... then maybe I could live forever...

  • This is one of the most beautifully made films.

Death is a part of life, so you cannot live forever.

  • Screw a supernova, I wanna fly into a quasar!

  • music and film has me crying randomly thinking about it or listening to it

  • if i had a horcrux this movie would be it...

  • Strange movie but i like!!

    Clint Mansell is amazing!

  • piece of my heart

  • Beautyful

  • I cried. and i havent cried in like 10 years.

  • what the fuck is going on? looks like someone lit up a roman candle over top a weed at the end.

  • @vodkagecko He traveled to a star going super nova with a tree he planted over his dead wife's grave. He defeated death but was too late to save her so he went to the supernova with 'her' to finally die. The hardest part of life is letting go and in death they are reunited, reborn. More importantly death released him from who knows how many eons of grief.

  • I'm just frozen..

  • This is honestly, one of the most amazing new "classical" songs ever made. This song speaks so much its brillant. Clint Mansell is truely a legend and should be revered as such.

  • I hate that piece of shit ad that plays before this song!

  • @smithy2306 What the? That's not an ad :S Listen more carefully.

  • @enesquest they are regional, you probably dont have it play everytime you watch the video.

  • @smithy2306 It says "Who ever drinks bla bla's bla will live forever." That's what I hear.

  • @enesquest thats part of the song. Mine says "why not take a trip to Northern Ireland and discover the wonder and magic this Christmas"!!

  • @enesquest Ohhhh ⊙.☉ the YouTube ads... Damn I thought it was in the videos itself.

  • I was thinking about becoming a serial killer ...but then I saw this movie . Clint Mansell has just saved dozens? ...hundreds ? Thanx Clint !!

  • @TheTechnoviking99 dozens? hundreds? This is the 2st century lad don't sell yourself short. He may have saved billions!

  • po co slowa .......

  • It's not one thing or another regarding music or director or cinematography.. it's various angles of art joining together to make beauty..

  • the question isnt can u handle eternal life but can u handle being alone

  • @Stoksie01 i can't but i am alone, :'( i will die fighting for US in the army without never NEVER love a woman, i hate all, the only thing i have in my life is sadness

  • @redknight344 You won't. That's a promise.

  • @redknight344 You're not alone, just lonely. Which is worse. Alone is without others, which by being part of the US army is untrue to your situation. So leave the army and find someone to settle down with?

  • @redknight344 its better u dont have a woman waiting for u i wouldnt be able to handle that dieing and leaving her with nothing or to never see her again. use that hate on anyone that fks with u dont turn it inside

  • @Stoksie01 what shut up

  • @thisisacunt arent u a bright boy go play with your blocks with the other kids

  • @Stoksie01 damn...i definatly can't handle being alone...FOREVER OMGAAAAASH I think my third eye just sharted a lil bit.

  • @Stoksie01 the question is can u live without the person that u love; and why when this person told you 'i love you' you left him alone;

  • @george941030 thats tight i was thinking of doing that.. But man shroooms can get you emotional in some cases it crazy.

  • needs lil wayne

  • Love is only suffering a torment of eternal struggle is not only painful and leaves .... just tears!

  • I'm sure that one disliker didn't mean to

  • this is the guy who made lux aeterns

  • All storys have an ending, The story of the Universe is no different.

  • @UnifiedPerfection yes, but just like stories are ending others may just be starting.

  • @UnifiedPerfection Everyones story is of their own universe.

  • @UnifiedPerfection eventually (trillions of years from now) all the hydrogen used to fuel stars will be depleted and the universe will go out like a candle. It will be as though it had never been.

  • @IMTHATGUY3927 nice theory, but the fact is nobody knows what lies ahead.

  • @soooooo89 true that

  • @soooooo89 but if the scientists are right the universe's future i looking pretty bleak

  • @IMTHATGUY3927 scientists have made numerous mistakes in their predictions. sure we wont be here to be worrying about it my friend.

  • @UnifiedPerfection Though your statement may be true. What came before and what comes after this one? ... and does existence (even an empty void) have an end?

  • @Luciffrit I agree with you.

  • @Luciffrit There are two main principles if you like that give me hope, I. Our thoughts, our perceptions - conciousness is not material yet it exists so who's to say it cannot exist outside of time and space? This brings the possibility of something after death. II. You can have infinity in a closed system, entitys in this dimension can be infinite yet quantifiable meaning our conciousness could be potetially infinite. It's hard to explain.

  • @UnifiedPerfection Please tell me more about it. I don't really understand.

  • @annkimlong In the distant future all particles will decay and all that will be left is sparse sub-atomic particles roaming a vast emptyness. Nothing molecular will exist.

  • @UnifiedPerfection i thought once our previous energy exhausted, it will become another energy. Old life gone, new life will come right?

  • @UnifiedPerfection However we first off need to understand what made decayed particles on a vast emptyness create a seemingly great universe. So much to comprehend yet.

  • @UnifiedPerfection To me.. What you said means that humanity will fade some day, there will be no stories anymore... Only universe?

  • @Eraisu As far as I know, the universe itself will one day become a vast dark emptiness... you may want to check out some videos on cosmology for further information.

  • 1 dislike? just go die, now.

  • i want to see someone upload the alternate version of this called "the last man" where it's this piano number accompanied with vocals by antony hegarty

  • Would you really want to live for ever?

  • translation of what @GeorgeMigeot beautifully said in German: Who has lived something similar will understand this.... The deep Pain can blind us, seclude us.... The attachment lies above the matter...but who wants to hear to hear this when the Heart bleeds... The most beautiful movie I have ever seen...great music and so much wisdom...

    Herzlichst

    George Migeot

  • @GeorgeMigeot sehr schön gesagt

  • Darren Aronofsky, congratulations! Continue to surprise us, your work is very significant for all of us, their fans. The Fountain is a masterpiece, beautiful and profound.

  • I won't deny The Fountain was one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen, visually, but it bored me so much.

  • i say one more times, music can change internal

  • omg....... this is so beatiful..very moving

  • Are people seriously arguing about the cycle of life?

    I guess it's better than religious arguments... : \

  • Why are you debating? This is not the place... There's a time for everything... Here's the time to listen, and not to argue...

  • Just SHUT UP and listen to this magnificent piece of music !

  • the guys down there are pompous idiots who want to sound intelligent. Shut up and enjoy the beautiful music and stop bickering about shit that doesn't matter. Death happens. whoop de la la

  • Finish it...

  • It is sad to read the comments of so many that are delusional, brainwashed into thinking that death is something good. Life is good. Death is the destroyer of life. Spending time with your loved ones is good. Death will take them away from you, or take you away from them. Life has its own beauty, with or without death. Now, we are approaching a point where our species may defeat death, just as Dr. Creo strove to do in this movie. Will you not reconsider your misguided belief?

  • @thoth81 In saying that death is inevitable and that we should accept it, people are not saying that death is better than life, or that life is bad. People are saying that to fear death and strive to avoid it because it takes loved ones away from you is folly. Instead, realize it's PART of the cycle of life, not the destroyer of it. You cannot have life without death. So love fiercely in the time you have with your loved ones and live your life to the fullest. You're part of something beautiful.

  • @PenthouseBossman Are you aware there are organisms on this planet that are immortal? They do not age and die. There is no "cycle" except for your biological components being REcycled, the molecules that comprise your body being broken down and then put back together to comprise other life forms but you will not be part of that, only those molecules will. Keep telling yourself that death is part of life. Keep your eyes and ears shut and keep shuffling slowly toward your grave, fool.

  • @thoth81 Every living being is a part of the cycle of life. Dying of old age is not the only way to go. Those "immortal" organisms you're talking sustain other life in death, so once again i'll say that death is a part of the cycle of life, you can't have one without the other. Those components you're talking about that get recycled...that's one step in the cycle of life. How can't you see that? So yes, we're part of it whether we want to be or not. No idea where your anger is coming from.

  • @thoth81 shut up.. seriously...you're arguing for nothing at all

  • @PenthouseBossman A death-worshipping zombie dares to lecture me on life. How ironic. If you or anyone else needs an impending doom like death from old age to make you appreciate your life, I find that pathetic and abhorrent and posit that you are not worthy of such a gift. Unlike the mindless masses, I enjoy life for life's sake and I DO live it to the fullest, even while me and my colleagues work on removing the biological end imposed upone our species by evolutionary mechanisms.

  • @thoth81 stfu and enjoy the video.

  • @thoth81 I don't see how you could stop aging without altering what we are at the most fundamental level. Our bodies aren't built to last forever. I don't think it is possible to make humans immortal through any form of therapy or drug. It would take extensive manipulation of the genome and reprogramming of what we are.

  • Best Film, best Soundtrack! Nice video.

  • i wish more people would understand true love and true beauty, the kind of love and beauty that this film expresses...

  • @iamthenight37 i agree with you, so much :)

  • is this song completely made by one person playing a piano?? i can't really tell :/

  • This is the song I want to be played at my funeral. It's so beautiful and haunting.

  • How could anything be so perfect ?!!

  • for people that think death is buetiful know nothing about pain and loss once u leave u will never come back so how is that buetiful?

  • @Stoksie01 Because you leave the world to others, and I as an non believer do think death is beautiful. Do what you want to do while you can, and when its time to open your arms to death just do it. Its natural, the real world don't care a shit about your feelings and kills you when your time comes. Everything that has a beginning has an end, and the beginning is beautiful so why cant the ending be the same?

  • @Stoksie01 the end is important in all things. death is what makes LIFE beautiful.

  • @Stoksie01 have you seen the movie? you should definitely watch it if you havent, you would relate to the character Tommy... in fact that is exactly what this movie is about, letting go, learning not to cling to life, to accept that we all die. whether we never come back, whether we go on, or whether we cease to exist.

  • When I die, I want this song to be played at my funerals

  • Comment removed

  • @Archelterreure funerals? are you planning on having more than one?

  • @DoDopeShit yeah sure . lol no sorry I'm not english, I'm french :P I mistaken

  • WAKEUPPROJECT learn more about your life

  • Whatever I was just looking at goes blank...im looking into deeper thoughts now

  • LOL at the thumbnail..

    still beautiful video tho.

  • The Fountain to me was not a film accompanied by music. But a musical composition accompanied by film, motion, ideas. This movie would not be what it is without Clint Mansell. Forever one of Arronofsky greatest.

  • @owlwaystv TheFountain is none of those single things. Its an artwork, every piece just as important as the other.

  • @owlwaystv This movie vibrates my soul thats been sleeping for too long.

  • @owlwaystv together they will live forever...
