(v)Just like the guy below me(v) I need a longboard for school.. So i was wondering if this board is okay for that. ( i dont have any hills on my way to school )
Slides are soo easy,,, just get some globes and get on the ground!!!!,..,.,., What´s de board?? I mean.... the model/maker/label ..... i like it a lot
@Ingve1234 it's not built for tricks as it's main purpose. besides, you can still do plenty with it, even though it's main purpose is to be a compact bombing/cruising board. my only complaint is that it's really stiff, but I tend to prefer really springy boards now.
haha epic, thanks! I definitely need to get caught up on my boardspeak.
I have too many hobbies to get to put in much effort during the short-ish Canadian summers. next year, planning on going for another push at really improving my ability to ride switch, then get with the slides. all in good time. after all, the only person I have to impress is myself if I'm not being paid to do it :P
you should learn how to slide, those first abec ones with the round lips looked pretty slidey, and the otangs, i amagine, could get more slidey after broken in
@slyinsider oh man, not nearly! but that's not my priority. I may learn eventually, but I won't be doing it with these wheels. I'd rather learn with a slightly harder duro wheel and a centred wheel with rounded edges so it's easier to control into a slide. I set mine up to grip well in sharper turns 'cos I set my trucks really loose, almost to the point to where they wobble. skate how you want, not how you're told you should. have fun with it!
@typhoon355 haha I totally ended up cleaning my wheels whenever I cleaned my board. which is often. I figure I like my board, so I may as well take care of it! I do a lot of regular maintenance on my boards to keep them shiny and awesome.
@Reinos grom is a word used to describe not necessarily an unexperienced but a young surfer, the word is also used for other board sports such as longboarding
@imGoinGhetto wheel bite depended on the trucks I used. I had some Bear trucks, and they were perfect. another set? not so much... can't remember what, but the hangar width wasn't wide enough for me to not get wheel bite. good luck and enjoy!
@MrBusmonkey actually, I do know how, and I pride myself on knowing the spelling and taxonomy of words. however, these are supposed to be spelled orangatang. that's how the makers of the wheels chose to spell it, so either check your facts or shut it. also, use full words, like "you"
lastly, it's people like you who use the word retard in a derogatory way that makes it a bad thing. retardation is not a joke, so back off, plzkthx!
@thesketchydude118 personally, I'd rather go with a Loaded board for cruising, but for a hybrid downhill/cruising board, the Drop Hammer is a beautiful board. I'd say 7/10.
@sam2k7s maybe, but you'd be hard-pressed to balance right. I can use the tail for a bit of a manual, but I mostly use it to kick off of. it's far from being a trick board, and mainly exists to be a crusing/small hill board.
@sonicmassi hm... I kinda doubt it, since it does have a tiny tail that's not upturned, and it's just a little wider so that it'd be rough to pull tricks with. On the upside, it's a stiff board that DOES lock your feet in, so that could be a good help! But since I never did skateboarding, and the skate park has never been my focus, I'd much rather go for a pool board or something like that. either way, go for something you like!
@sonicmassi it can be a pretty fast board, plus the wide footspace on the board makes it feel comfy going around good turns. if you like bombing hills, it's a bit small for that, but with the bear trucks, it's solid. I'd personally put some Paris or something on that is better for turning, but it was one of my first boards, and it rides nice and smooth for pretty much anything you could want it for!
RIghteous bro :). I'm actually out to get a DropHammer too (cause the board I have I end up sharing with Nick, my nieces, my sister's, and friends all the time... so I want a board of my own) and by your video it seems like a wicked board to get! No worries about the tricks man... it's all about cruising and chilling with peeps. Lol you asked for comments so maybe learn how to push with your back foot instead of mongo style? Idk. Anyhow... thumbs up if you HATE reading long posts like this lol
@Spartansghost actually, I hate pushing mongo... doesn't feel right somehow. I only push with my back foot lol
the board is pretty sweet, and while it's not my main ride, it's made for just easy, comfy cruising. I prefer springier boards like the Rayne Timeline or the Loaded Pintail, but it's good either way!
@ohmally34 I literally just held the camera in front of it and ducked low on the board. I'm hoping to get someone to film this year, but haven't had much chance to get out on my board this year. more than filming, get out and ride! just have fun, 'cos no matter what anyone says, the whole point isn't tricks, but it's doing what YOU enjoy.
@Reinos if you still dont have a camera man what i reccomend is you use your tripod while riding to get those low shots then flip the shots right side up in a editing program
@youreuglyDAMN yeah, the o-tang 4prez are amazing! they crush the zigs if you ask me. I'm definitely putting either the 4prez or the inheat on my next board.
@youreuglyDAMN I have the zigs on another board, and I really don't like them nearly as much. I have the orange zigs, and even their cool factor doesn't compare :P
hows the flex im looking at that or the drop carve i think i want the hammer because its a little smaller and i dont need the added stability for downhill
i think you can all agree with me, that a dervish with black trucks of any kind, and a bright wheel is amazing looking? haha ive got a dervish with otang stimulus's and ive got trucks (idk what) that came with my old landyacht. im getting paris 180 eventually though for it to look and ride sick
yeah nice setup dude, im riding orange inheats and black gullwing chargers on my dervish, it looks pretty shaweet!, only thing is with black trucks is that scratches show up really easy :(
its not about tricks you dumb fuck its called slides, slides using sliding gloves, cross stepping, carving we longboard to be different then skateboarders so fuck off
No, it's about having fun. None of the things listed are required to enjoy yourself on a longboard. Relax. If you're gonna skate with that attitude, you might as well go grab an Element and work on your kickflips.
lol its funny when you use the tripod and it seemed like that would be when some one does tricks but your just like gliding around hah but then i looked and saw that you have only been skating for a month. you got a cool set up, and live in a amazing skate area your gonna get good in no time. just keep skatin every day and get more confident every time you go out. longboarding is so fucking fun.
I know man, and the strange thing about the tricks are that they flow together so easily and look so great, but also look REALLY easy. . . Until you attempt them. It's such a chill sport, 'cause even when you're working like crazy it's still fun and you still look chill.
You live in Edmonton? no way! i do too! i been skating up the university and college for eyars now, got my loaded dervish with Paris trucks and oranagtangs in heat.
if u want striktly sliding wheels get the 86a yellow orangatang durain wheelsif u want something that u can slide and cruise in just go for the in heats
idk i think im gonna go with the durian purples cuz they 83a so there softer so i can pump and curz cuz i don't slide all the time and i don't have alot of money so i cant buy 2 sets of wheel right now i have retro bigzigs 86a orenges and they have a little bit of a choppy slide so i think i might go with the purple durians.
so u want wheels for cruising and not really a full slide but kind of like a wheel that u can slide every now and then instead of, u now every time u try a hard turn :P. Yea sure go 4 wat ever wheels yea want that was just my suggestion u mentioned sliding and i'm highly into sliding. So that was just a wheel that i find a good for sliding.:P
yea im not saying your suggestion is wrong. i prolly slide 3/4 of the time i ride so idk to me thats a good ammount. i think the 86a durians would be a little too hard for pumping ive riddent he 83a purple durians and those were a little slidey
@nerdpoke yea if u just wanna slide. but i do DH so i don't x-actly suggest straight sliding wheels or i'd b sliding EVERYWHERE(not x-aclty what u want going DH XD) but yea upper 90's if all u want to do is slide. 86a is good for sliding and good for DH/cruising etc. whatever u want to do. but i get whet your sayin man :P.
In Heats, are more of a cruising wheel, so if you want to cruise but also slide just grab orange 80a 4prez. I have em and can slide pretty well, though i suck at editing. my friend did most of it. watch our vids? "TheLongboarders" is our username. Thanks.
how do u like this board. Im thinkin of gettn it.... Is it flexy? how easy is it to get wheel bite. Easy to drift/slide? Give me an over view of what u think
Man, I wanna hit up mill creek so bad. This weekend is supposed to be so nice and im getting my first board (drop carve) tomorrow, and that place has so many spots that would be prime for longboarding.
actually... that IS what I'm trying to do. criticism is great, but CONSTRUCTIVE criticism even moreso. when I see proof that you're so superior to me, I'll accept your judgement. but remember this: we all have to start somewhere. what you see here is my first attempt at both filming and anything more than just trying to stay upright on my board.
why dont you learn not to be an asshole, and try and put some videos up on how to "properly" film and longboard, you know, just for those of us who obviously have no idea
lol actually, that was a month or so later... I'd been saving up for a sport, I just didn't know it would be longboarding. trust me, though... they are worth it.
I quite like it, but it has a crack down the middle through the top 2 plys. I heard that this was a bit of an issue for one of the runs they did, but it's fixed now. it's a fast. compct board, and I like the way it feels. the deep concave in the front is nice.
I love the o-tangs! I'd like to try the In Heat on my next board, but with the Bear 852's, they'd be giving me wheel bite on either of my Landyachtz decks (my other's a drop Carve). I am so glad I got the 4president, as it's saved me from sliding out on soem downhill corners without needing to slide (forgot my gloves that day, and would've been a nasty wipeout with the ABEC 11 Strikers. Both are great wheels, but I lean much more strongly towards the 4prez.
I wish I could ride longboards like the cool kids :( I can only nollie flip every try :(

This comment has received too many negative votes show
this guy just wasted my time. Learn to film and longboard.

actually... that IS what I'm trying to do. criticism is great, but CONSTRUCTIVE criticism even moreso. when I see proof that you're so superior to me, I'll accept your judgement. but remember this: we all have to start somewhere. what you see here is my first attempt at both filming and anything more than just trying to stay upright on my board.
regardless....
thank you

why dont you learn not to be an asshole, and try and put some videos up on how to "properly" film and longboard, you know, just for those of us who obviously have no idea

lol actually, that was a month or so later... I'd been saving up for a sport, I just didn't know it would be longboarding. trust me, though... they are worth it.

how do you like the board over all??

I quite like it, but it has a crack down the middle through the top 2 plys. I heard that this was a bit of an issue for one of the runs they did, but it's fixed now. it's a fast. compct board, and I like the way it feels. the deep concave in the front is nice.

How do you like the orang's compared to your Abec11 wheels/
sportpedmikey 3 years ago
I love the o-tangs! I'd like to try the In Heat on my next board, but with the Bear 852's, they'd be giving me wheel bite on either of my Landyachtz decks (my other's a drop Carve). I am so glad I got the 4president, as it's saved me from sliding out on soem downhill corners without needing to slide (forgot my gloves that day, and would've been a nasty wipeout with the ABEC 11 Strikers. Both are great wheels, but I lean much more strongly towards the 4prez.
