I agree with your sentiments. You shall agree that some of remixes are awful. I agree that the main spirit of the original song should remain intact. That reminds me of the terrible Jhankar on old songs that has ruined them. Take Nurjehan's songs where only Jhankar tabla and Dholahs are heard over riding the original harmony.
Doc sahab adding very light and low volume jhankar doesnt ruin but when u add big drum beat it engulfs everything. I've heard a few very balanced only jhankar additions of Indian Songs in some REVIVAL title CDs (30+ old song cds in fact) which have been very carefully blended not to hurt the original composition.. I'll upload for you on some free server like mediafire.. its all about the balance Sir when it comes to creativity. Josh nahi Hosh chahiay remixing k liay with proper music sense..
I shall be delighted to sing Parvez Mehdi's song. He was a great friend of mine. I do sing his Toot Jaey Na Bharam in my private Mehfis. I sang his Ghazal Gayeye Dinn Ka Suragh Leykaar in my concert in Alhamra. He was alive then. I remember I arranged his concert in Birmingham when I was student there. I have rendered Nurjehan, Farida Khanum, Mehdi Hasan, Salim Raza and Ghjulam Ali's songs umpteen times for PTV. I am sure many other singers should keep their ego aside and sing Parvez Mehdi etc
masha Allah.. thats really a great service Doc sahab.. in fact in this barren era of music only version songs or some light remixes (without damaging the soul of composition) may become something attractive for younger generations to turn to..
sirf aik hi problem hay.. jo plan kar saktay hain un kay paas finance nahi aur jo finance kar saktay hain un kay is taraf aanay kay iraday nahi.
Doc sahab why do all artists when they reach their peak, dislike to sing the songs of other legends (from whom they had gained inspiration at the start of their careers) Plz dunt take it personal lekin Mehdi Hassan aur Ghulam Ali to chalo abhi zinda hain..magar kya aap ya koi aur professional singer dost Parvez Mehdi ko tribute dena bhi achha nahi samajhtay, unki gaai hui ghazlen ga kar? Film song to version keh kar drop kiya jayay magar Ghazal to koi bhi ga sakta hay..why not give it a try Sir?
Mr Bawa has theilled me with his golden voice. I am a great fan of Saigal and CHA. The latter I met in 1964 after his film "Geet gaya.."He was a very sweet person also. I wish to listen more songs of Mr Bawa. I have listened many rare songs presented by Dr. Bukhari. He is doing a great service to old song loving humanity.Thank you Lovehumanity and Dr. Bukhari.
C.H. Atma was as close an approximation of K.L. Saigal as one could get. Likewise,Ivan Bawa seems as close an approximation of CHA as one will ever see. Nice clip. Thank you.
it was first movie of Nutan with nasir khan.that time nutan was around 16 year. Because it was a horror movie not for minors nutan had to wait for 2 years to see the movie.another song of c.h.atma is also good
I understand you, but I didn't choose that name for myself. Please search 'Roop Behroop' on youtube. You will learn more about me. I am 65 years old now. My singing days are over. Thanks for thinking I am good enough to join a tour with super stars! 20/30 years ago, maybe.
i have uploaded his two songs from 70's where u can hear his youth-voice :) and in short it was Film Producer and actor Kamal who said he resembles Rafi sahab so he should adapt a Rafi in his name though the first name was changed. its not Muhammad Rafi. its Mehmood Rafi. aur jahan pyar say nisbat ho wahan naam rakha jata hay chahay aap us say milay bhi na hoon. Daler Mehdi is a living example in India, Anwar Rafi in Pak. Disciples bhi aesa kar saktay hain like Parvez Mehdi in Pak.
Without comparing, I hope you enjoy a humble man's offering. I am a fan of C.H.Atma and all the greats since 1950 , but content to be myself while gratefully accepting their influence.
Meri Jaan dimagh mein to hazaron shaitaani sochein bhi aati jaati jaati hain jo "min sharril waswaasil khannas" parhnay say bhi nahi bhaagti hain ..lekin unka izhaar publically karna munasib nahi especially jab koi over-sensitive ho ya uskay hurt honay ka khadsha ho :)
Jimmz. I learn everyday yaar. aap ne mujhe bola tha Doc if u dislike Jhankaar songs then simply dun comment on them. From that day Mehdi Hassan sings for me "honT si kar jiay" :) IB apnay jigar hain unko naraz na karo yaar :)
Not trying to be Atma, just paying my humble tribute to the singer expressing broken hearted feelings through a beautiful, sad song. That's all, no more, no less.
Thanks, my dear friends, for your positive comments! This is one my favourite singers and songs. I recorded this at home in 1984, in a very pensive mood, since I was alone. Perfect atmosphere for a sad, lovely tune!!
Mr. Bawa: Dr. Bhukhari said he was surprised( as was Sonu Nigam) at the vocal strength of your voice - I wasn't, I was in total awe! I was mesmerized at the control and the way you brought out the nuances at low notes. I wish YouTube was there 20 years ago we would have stopped you from smoking and enjoyed your singing. If you have more recordings do put them on YouTube. Salutations and regards.
What a wonderful thought! Appreciated more than I can express in mere words. Thanks are due to the GREAT Dr. Bukhari for paying any attention to an unknown by posting this. I have a few more old home recordings, and will request Dr. Sahib to work his magic again! Coming soon.
I heartily echo all the compliments to you, Mr. Bawa. I just learned from clicking around that you are indeed Ivan Bawa. Your melodious rendition of CHA's geet almost made me stand up and cheer you in my own solitude, and ask for an encore! That's how outstanding your talent is. Just wonderful how you created the sweet impression that maybe CHA himself was singing. Please do sing more if you can.
is this person's name for real? ivan? whatever the name, beautiful voice.

I shall look forward to balanced Jhankar but Pakistani versions are really bad and loud as far as rhythm is concerned, lovehumanity.

How close is the tonal resemblance between Ivin Bawa and C. H. Atma. There couldn't be a better tribute!

IB,
Why you used Rafi name in 'Roop Behroop'?
That's down right piracy.
OK.. you do have good voice.
But, have you ever played with any singers like Asha. Alka or Sonu in US tour?
How about Runa Laila with US tour?
I think these people can add you here in US tour. It will good.
Why don't you try?
