I never played this game before the CU and NGE updates. But thats a LOT of people compared to the amount of people who played this year like I did. (you know, before the shut down). There wouldn't even be half of the crowd hanging out on Naboo as there is in this video! The cantina in Mos Eisley was always full though, but that was the last place in the game where people hanged out. :(
I will never forget this game. Great experiences with it. The Rp was awesome and shall never forget it. Couple more days, You will be missed swg. But then again i get access to swtor the 13th.
SWG didn't have a creative director until NGE, there was noone keeping the big picture, they just progressed blindly without any direction. Making random fixes and changes, Dundee at mmorpg-dot-com forum was Jeff Freeman, lead gameplay designer for SWG. He posted alot of insideinfo there after he left SoE. BTW: he killed himself in 2008

pre CU just got butchered by min maxers anyway, devs didnt have enough foresight to prevent over-min-maxing that resulted in a single armor set that would resist %95 of damage, resulting in everyone dressing like the same heavy trooper. i remember watching duels and ppl including the duelers were saying stuff like "this looks stupid" so it wasnt all that great all the time, the system was min maxed to death and that should have never happened, the only choice they had was CU

But, SWG had a far more compelx system, more interesting quests and alot more customization like player housing and shit. Also i may point out that *click* instant jedi thing was a no-no back then you had to be a 'revered' player and get a visit from an old man, hows that for unique. Not Simple classes and grindy quests. Every game has it flaws.

game still has the sand box all the nge did was add content (as well as kill loads of classes) i agree it was a bad thing in some aspects but it was good in other aspects.

the killing of the classes and forcing of 1 class is what removed the sandbox aspect. you could do whatever class you wanted or mix little bits of many. content doesn't replace gameplay.

Back in 2005 they overhauled the game not once, but twice. Once in April and when that turned out to be a failure they did it again in November. In doing so they changed the game mechanics in its entirety to try and keep up with other mmo's on the market. It has since been utter shit imo.

you should really test out SWGemu, its a emulator that emulates a server without that shitty CU, so its Pre-CU, just as it was in the begining. Its free to play per month, but you must have a legal copy of the game. Just google it and you will find it. I play it myself. Its really cool

So what if someone can be a jedi from day 1, instead of after an indeterminate length of time after doing an undefined number of class changes.
The end result is the same, if someone wants to be a lvl 90 jedi, they will still get be one at least this way it happens a lot sooner.

I laugh at a lot of these people who say "swtor is a fail it copies wow" then they say "I CANTS WAIT FOR SWTOR" well, idiots, swtor is completely like wow besides its combat system and story.
Swtor probably wont have these things that swg has: space combat (and walking around in your ship), player houses, and just the good times of swg.
I mean, I can already tell, you wont be able to just roam the game like in swg, you will just be faced with monsters.

lol, this was on Lowca!? thats where my old character was... i wish i could have been there for the protest... i really miss how the game used to be... my character on lowca was Ephewe Hiarban. he was almost a master marksman going for commando. after NGE and the CU, all of my old armor and weapons were useless because i was lvl 1.... i was pissed. i dont really have him anymore because he was on my uncles account. my new character is Cobeli Ismo, on the current SWG. i will definally miss pre-CU

I think pre-CU was the best, but I agree with you -- I think NGE is a pile of shit.
Eventhough I didn't like nor support the CU, I could at least tolerate it -- and I still had fun with it. NGE however, could not be tolerated, and wasn't necessary, at all. =/

game still has the sand box all the nge did was add content (as well as kill loads of classes) i agree it was a bad thing in some aspects but it was good in other aspects.
its kinda like geting a spinal tap it hurts like hell at first but then when they drain the fluid it feels great

the killing of the classes and forcing of 1 class is what removed the sandbox aspect. you could do whatever class you wanted or mix little bits of many. content doesn't replace gameplay.

Back in 2005 they overhauled the game not once, but twice. Once in April and when that turned out to be a failure they did it again in November. In doing so they changed the game mechanics in its entirety to try and keep up with other mmo's on the market. It has since been utter shit imo.

you should really test out SWGemu, its a emulator that emulates a server without that shitty CU, so its Pre-CU, just as it was in the begining. Its free to play per month, but you must have a legal copy of the game. Just google it and you will find it. I play it myself. Its really cool
