I've never seen anyone as full of shit as Vedder and his band mates but in spite of that they wrote some incredible songs. I'll give them credit. There is talent in that band but it's almost outweighed by the utter meaningless bullshit the spew whenever they open their mouths. Let the music speak for itself and don't try to be "the voice of a generation" None of those guys has the intelligence to lead the way. I wish they would stop trying to pretend they do.
if being conscientious, unpretentious, the best singer ever and from what I understand very well read and highly principled doesn't make you a genius- then i guess he isn't.
Ah I see, so being conscientious, unpretentious and well read means you're a genius? Interesting. You just described everyone of my friends and family. I guess we are all geniuses under your definition. YIPPIE!
As for Vedder, I doubt he could find his home state on a map. He appears to be about as well read as Homer Simpson.
yup i think that makes you more of a genius in terms of the services you do to the earth and mankind than just being some pretentious intellectual. i understand he's a fan of umberto echo and kurt vonnegut tho... when people say someone's a 'genius' they don't always mean it literally, he's just a really decent human being imo :D
Oh great. Now he's just a really decent human being and no longer a genius. Let me ask you one more question, Does wiping his ass on stage with Rolling Stone Magazine make him more of a genius or more off a decent human being?
erm, did you listen to his reasons for wiping his ass with rolling stone? pretty valid. i can't be bothered to argue over this with you anymore, everyone's entitled to their opinion and we both agree the music's good so lets fuggedaboutit.
eddie isnt well-read.. he dropped out of school at like 15, there all just rock stars and we should listen 2 their music rather than their ideals or political opinions..
they should jus just bring back dave abbruzzese and make good music as far away from the style of binuaral
You can't compare Pearl Jam of today with Pearl Jam of the past, you know it cannot be the same. If you cannot stand seeing a band that goes through maturing and time-passing then you are missing a lot. People change as they get older and so do musicians. Passion and aggressiveness is not always 'bout how good your headbanging is. It's also in the way u sing and express ur thoughts, and I think PJ has that pretty much covered :) :)
i think roit act was good...i am mine is really nice track...i haven't herd the new album but im looking forward to...for me theres nothing disappointing about them...they rocked as hard as they could when they had they were young...now they r growing old...n when u do that much of hard stuff when ur young, u get preety tired...i guess that's wats going...so i don't hav any reason to be dissapointed with 'em...long live pearl jam...grunz is freat...
I don't see the similarity between Pearl Jam and 60's bands either - Pearl Jam is Pearl Jam. One of the hardest rocking bands currently around. Can't argue with that! :-)
And last but not least, what is it about all this 50-60's retro sound? What is this?PJ or the Beach Boys?I think that they should choose a more intense and dignified soun d to accompany such an intense content.
People change, so it's obvious that their music changes as well. Would you want them to pump out "Ten-esque" albums all the time, then? People would put them down for their lack of innovation and originality. I don't expect them to make an "aggressive" album all the time. Sure, it's not as "aggresive" as Ten but it's still a lot more energetic then their last few albums, that's for sure. I wouldn't call them "just songs" either, they have a lot of depth and they mean a lot to me.
These r just songs that deal aptly with subjects that trouble people like u'n' me.But this still is in no way "fairly aggressive music".Cuz if this is such a kind of music, then what would be RATM or even PJ's "VS" album for you, dealing w/ issues, such as complete lack of freedom, media brainwash, racism and illegal posession of arms?I 'm pretty left wing as far as such subjects are concerned and I hope this makes me more caring about these world.
It makes me sad.Their music became old before they grew old themselves.I hope they don't keep on going like this and end up like Rolling Stones or U2,cuz they already look like pensioners an' it breaks my heart.I also hope to see them live in Athens, although I don't have any high expectations.Ohh,and the new album sounds really disappointing like the previous one.
Don't be so rediculous, they're better than ever. Just look at them and listen to their album. They haven't sounded more positive before. Album disappointing? Give it a few more listens, you might change your mind in a few months! Some good music takes a while to get into, as a rock fan you should know that.
Ed Vedder isn't Bono, and he never will. He actually cares about the world, unlike you.
Dude,I 've been into this fuckin' band for about 12 years now.I have no intention of gettin' in a lame bloggin' proceedure w/ you.PJ still is one of the best rock acts around.Noone can really match these guys. But you gotta face it they're gettin' older 'n' older. This isn't "aggressive music".This are just songs
i like how he's so self-rightious about the environment as he's sittin' there smokin' the whole time....yeah what the world needs is another fuckin' bono!
I don't like PJ or Eddie Vedder getting political and all that stuff
