GREAT ideas the manhole covers and trashcans thats great because there are alot of trachcans in my naborhood and i can take the manhole covers and put them in every other trash can of my trashcan fence
I really enjoy your vids, one thing I would add is some form of ATV and a gas powered chain saw, during a hurricane or tornado you could find yourself with no way out. I also stock several bags of charcoal so that I have a way to cook. Several of my buddies lost tones of deer meat because they had no way to cook it.
Hey SP1, thanks for this video!!! Quick request: could you talk about your NatGeo experience a bit and what kind of a feedback did you get after it aired.
we just piles and 2 foot stack of rocks along the base of our fence so that they can't just drive right up to my retreat. Were looking into bamboo along the back fence by the stream, was wondering if you thought that was a good idea? Blessings!
@BexarPrepper Bambo is great and you can use it for alot of things but it can get out of hand so make sure that is where you want it because it will take over and spread
We should all Favorite this video, so the rest of the Youtube community and non-subscribers see this video as they open there Youtube account!! Thumbs up so we are all remembered to favorite!! Thanks
Ok I see your point on not having trees close to the house but the red roof is still a bit much and the light cinder block could be painted a earth tone to lower the flashy ness of the house shown in nat geo special
@dsarti1 there are trees all around the house out about 40 yards so the house has grass around it then there are a wide band of forest around it then a field (field of fire) the house blends with all the other farm houses on the road. It doesnt stick out with the other house. The field around it ranges from 200 yards to 500 yards around the house its designed right if you could be there and see the big picture. But thanks for your ideas.
@southernprepper1 WOW now I see what they were talking about "high value target" the whole neighborhood is full of $250,000 plus houses??? Heck yea if I was a gang of neaked mutant ninja Bikers I would aim right for the whole street... Get IronHead 41 to come help you with some redneck decorating then thy will pass the place by for shure LOL
@dsarti1 LMAO! Good idea! 'Ol Ironhead can be a fountain of practical advice on that topic! My son saw a program that advised to dump old dresser drawers and clothes, perhaps some trash and broken electronics in the yard, to fake an already ransacked home and perhaps then you will get passed by. My plan is to post a sign on top that says "The only thing we have to eat here is lead! Come git some!" Of course I do plan to help my neighbors...that sign is just for the roving hordes!
Did you have all of this in mind originally when you acquired your chunk of land? Just curious. I'm in the boat where I'm hoping to buy land soon and these tips will be handy for narrowing down my selection. Your channel is truly excellent!
@brown55061 Yes and no.....want land off the beaten path and thats what I was looking for. All this can be done with many different pieces of property.
Great vid. I had an idea not long ago on fencing. chain link is week and easy to cut, brambles are easy to slash through too, but if you grow your bushes through your chain fence they are much stronger. (like re-bar in concrete)
Most cutting tools are for wood or metal not both and using the wrong blade rely slows you down. think of a fast way through one and it won't work for the other.
@73Corbin No, I'm just being goofy. I am NOT a pacifist - If someone is going to kill me or my loved ones, they have forfeited the right to their life.
Maybe a house out in the 'boonies' should have an 'old fashion' cattle-guard that ties into a drainage ditch. It's a 'low key' item that can be pulled up in an emergency. Practical item to have anyway; plus - doesn't look like a tank trap.
An ordinary garbage truck can be backed into most houses. Not too many preppers have a - 20mm Gatling gun firing depleted uranium bullets - to stop it.
@glockfan86 Web search - cattle guards - They are designed to prevent livestock from leaving ranch property. Instead of always having a gate needing open/closing a cattle guard is installed in the road.
The livestock see the 'openings' between the rails and know it is unsafe to cross as they know they will break a leg. (Theory anyway - since most folks - wonder - what do cows think about all day?)
Old 'cattle guards' are home-made out of iron rails. (make one easily lifted)
A few minutes after seeing your video, I observed a group of people looking in my windows. They thought my house was uninhabited and admitted to stocking my house. I informed them it is habited and that I am willing to protect my house and family. I believe they were looking for a house to squat in or have a place to party.
Important vid. Thanks. Dakota Alert Systems has a remote motion detectors and magnetic sensors that send an alert message to your radio up to a mile away in some areas. One can monitor at least 4 avenues of approach on one channel. And of course there are other low tech means.
@InTheSticks0001 Dakota is a great outfit. My receiver quit working after less than a yr of use, and they replaced it no questions asked. Also on of my remote motion detectors died....a spider got in and messed up the circuit board. It was taken care of at a nominal cost. It is a good item to own for sure!
Good stuff. I recommend getting an Army Field Manual; FM 7-8 for tactical stuff. Much if what sp1 is talking about comes from this manual. Heaven forbid if you have to use it, however, it's better to have and NOT need than to NEED and not have. 6 P's;
@z71cowboydj - You wrote: "Good stuff. I recommend getting an Army Field Manual; FM 7-8" You are dead right: it is "good stuff" I looked for the field manual you recommended, but could find only electronic copies on the web. Do you know a source of a hard copy of this manual?
@southernprepper1 - A hard copy that combined your slides and your commentary with a little more detail would be very helpful. Any suggestions?
Thank you very much sp1, good info, especially like the wheelie bins! Will be watching the National Geographic show with my missus later, hopefully get her a bit more interested and involved.
Great video! Still curious if you classify fire as a security issue. If someone is lobbing flaming stuff your direction (arrows, bottles, torches, etc.) what's your plan? For example increased distance, fire barriers, fire resistant construction, and/or flight? Do you feel like this is a nonissue? This seems like it would be a bigger issue in the city.
Thanks for the great info. I had a question off topic though. If the economy were to fail how much would silver be worth? For example what would a silver quarter buy me if the economy were to fail? Same goes for gold. Thanks
my worst fear in a bad situation is martal law, i do have a gun and what if the same thing happens in new orlands and the authoritys try to disarm me, they know i have it because i bought it legally, in one hand i could give up my gun and risk loosing my security if things get worst, or on the other hand i could say no, which in the worst case will get me killed right there or turn me into a criminal if things get better. SP1 i know your not all knowing but your opinion would really help me out
@libertytooth there is an old saying, "it's better to be judged by 12 of your peers than carried by 6 of your friends" Guess point is, Your question is of a personal nature and only you can decide the actions that you do. I for one would encourage you to look back at history and see the outcomes of people who gave up their way of protecting themselves vs the ones who relied on others for that service. Good question, my best to you in your decision.
@libertytooth buy a gun from a local classified ad. you dont have any paper trail that way. but if your afraid of them coming to take your guns, its probably time to fight anyway
One thing you can do before the SHTF is get politically active and elect people who will pass laws that support your Rights to be armed. Florida and several other States passed versions of the Castle Law, but you can do more. Vote only for Candidates who truly support your Constitutional Rights and will make laws that will reinforce them instead of the Jackasses who placed the "Patriot Act" around our necks like a Slave Collar.

A good idea for stopping *most* vehicles is to put nails in some plywood in the road.
