I love how the character Tess, still loved her baby even though she was raped. how she loved angel killed for him. I think she would of died of heartbreak, though I feel like she did not deserve it. I actualy like angels' a jerk because most young men in his situation act selfishly and don't take time to understand situations thatmade her a beautiful woman reguardless of tragity.
I remember the ending made people in my high school English class so angry. People who otherwise hated the book were floored by the epilogue and were all but cursing Hardy's name at the idea of Angel "replacing" Tess.
The crows (harbingers of death) are so fitting in this scene- I don't know if the filmmakers put them there or if they were there naturally- but very fitting.
Tess finally accepts her fate & that she must sacrifice herself(at Stonehenge) for her ancestors' misdeeds. Such a sad, tragic, and bittersweet story.
So sad, I cried at the end :(

This is awful. Watch the same scene from the 1998 version. That's moving!

Yea- Tess(the eternal earth goddess) indeed did not deserve her fate. She suffered & gave up everything so that others could be happy.

Thanks for putting this up. It is quite hard to find the film anywhere online, or parts of it, if not purchased.
