when you reach the big square all glass windowed building, you've finally reached old town, the mt vernon i grew up in and used to know. most of those commercial businesses to the west weren't there way back when. basically, it was just some housing and the jr high school inhabiting that side of town. it was a great midwestern town to grow up in with gobs of rabid st. louis cardinal fans
You know there is good in everyone!!! There is good in every place !!! But I must admit, that driving South, East, North or West within' 20 minutes you will feel a black cloud of dark energy lifting. Sorry folks that' just my opinion Brightest Blessings.
My opinion from experience.I hate this boring, lame, small all but trouble some town.Don't ever move to Mount Vernon it is only a ghettoe town mixed with ghetto whites & blacks who wanna be big town. The people put on a fake smile when you first get there then the horns come out once your in.& Every body is always in everybodies life there even if you try to avoid them.Sinceless nosey people for no reason. Also check out the neighbor hood at night, lol in between 15-21 the things you will see!
Enumaelishhh , I hope to see a video from the airport to downtown via Main Street (Route 15 West). Maybe after the Appellate Court House you could swing around and go back to show the High School and Jefferson County Justice Center?
I like that the Cemetery provides a "green" entrance into Mt.Vernon along Broadway. I think the bridge at the Jr High and the gold bank building are very unique. I wish the camera person showed the statue outside Stan the Tire Man better. Southtown ( S. 10th Street/ Route 37) is depressing to see. I'd like to see a college build in this area and think more businesses would line 10th Street then.
I was born and raised in Mt. Vernon. The creepy music kind a goes with it. My mom always wanted me to move back home but I just couldn't. Both my mom and dad are passed away now. But I now people in Mt Vernon that got pretty great lives. That's more then I can say for me. I'm in KY, still feels like IL and looks like IL. blah!!!
