  • you know there is power in the kick when it actually sounds like the kicking sound effects they put into action movies.........except they didn't haha

  • REAL shaolin monk i swear no doubt, this guy can beat other shaolin wushu performance "monks" posers easily !

  • but does he put his entire weight into the hit?

  • @MrCarstennielsen Try getting in the way of one of those kicks and find out. lol

  • @hooperqi He may be strong and put power into it, but he still does not seem to put his weight into it!

  • @MrCarstennielsen The key to kicking power with a roundhouse kick or a heel kick that is shown is the torque from the hips along with good form. So "is he putting his weight into it" is not the right question when it comes to these kicks.. For example, a properly executed round kick with the right torque is much more powerful that a punch "with the weight behind it". A proper round kick with the proper hip turn can kill you. The Korean rock marines used to have a phrase, "one kick, one kill".

  • @hooperqi "with the weight behind it", and "his weight into it" is not the same. "Weight into it", kind of got this effect of torque (beeing integrated into the hit) you are talking about, I think, whereas weight behind the hit, means, that weight supports the hit.

I was replaying the vid and have found, that he may just be able to use limited amount of torque, weight etc., because it is only demo. He seems way more competent, than just the small slap like he gives the pad, should he need to.

  • @hooperqi Of course weight has to be lifted, the weight of bone and muscle in the leg, but besides that, not much force should be applied, nomatter what, I think. It is like the swinging of the nunchargo, it needs some force and power to swing it, but it is weight of the item and the swing, that makes it powerfull. Please correct me if wrong, I do not want to be selfdelusional, thanks.

  • @MrCarstennielsen weight increases with the speed , the faster you swing it the more damage it does , its just physics , like an bullet , its light , just a few grams but when you shoot it , if it dont go through someone it will give him at least some kilograms push

  • @johnguitarist1 That is what I just said, right?!

"it depends on how fast is the light stone thrown and how heavy is the heavier stone"

The essence is the same, you just formualte it differently, but sure, if your terms work better, no problem.

  • @johnguitarist1 That said, the more you involve and attach and extend the attachment and involvement of your entire body and bodyweight, espc. grounding/into the ground (perception of entire human beeing's weight/gravity) the more power or weight you have behind the hit and the more you can project this down into the ground and not at least, how much you understand to snap, move in syncronized oppesite direction, the more speed and power you can then generate.

like you say, it is all physics.

  • Svar på denne video ... One can project weight down into the ground and by principle of leviation, use the ground as a kind of ekstreme weight, all depending how strong one is.

  • @hooperqi "the torque from the hips along with good form"

This is the same basic in feks. muay thai, the kind of snapping effect, that makes it fast and not easily to be found out about before it is too late.

  • @hooperqi just thought this one yesterday: If there is no weight into the hit, then it is like empty, hollow, no power, eventhough it may look effective. If torque applied to a powerfull/weighted hit, then it becomes even more powerfull, torque increases the effect of the weight hitting.

If a stone is thrown fast vs. nonfast, the fast has more power, the bigger and heavier stone more power than the lighter one.

  • @MrCarstennielsen it depends on how fast is the light stone thrown and how heavy is the heavier stone

  • determination!

  • you gotta be seriously badass just to hold the pads....

  • Rubber -band snap baby!

  • ouch.

  • nice and strong kick

  • Yea after all ALL shaolin monks use sanda for actual fighting, the forms they practice are for health vbenefits and for strenghthening, but of course behind it are applications ,just like any art with forms/kata.

  • its nice to see a angel on they art

  • wwwdangerofchiorg/mystory

  • You can see the force behind that first kick is absolutely incredible.

  • I have never trained under him however, i have seen the progression of the school. Well thats if it is the one i am thinking of in tufnel park. His students are good and anyone i know that has been to the school has had nothing but good things to say about it.

  • @TPMTheDarkDragon yes it is the one in Tufnell park. He is a very good teacher.

  • i think he can kick cung le's butt but not in the cage whit ufc rules but whitout rules i think Yanzi could kill him.

  • monks fight ?

  • very intence

    most impresive kicks ive found

  • how can he be a monk if he does not live at the shaolin temple?.... he must be a shaolin disciple

  • he used to live in the shaolin temple and was sent outside to set up a temple in europe to promote the shaolin temple in china

  • he is real, ccame to uk in 97 i think, our grand master brought him over with full blessing of the abbot

  • @SupaShaolinKid Yes, you can see him in the old kungfu documentary made by the communist government when he was younger , hes trained with genuine shaolin masters.

  • Coach Cheng...look him up

  • i didnt know monks fought in sports competitions r sure hes a 34th generation monk or did u ment to say 34th generation secular disciple

  • he's a warrior monk from shaolin, lol so yh a secular monk

  • anyone who doubts his power they can come to the temple and see for ur self.

  • lool bat every video i see from temple youve commented lmao

  • awsome power

  • You mean kick a lot harder? And no, if an average fighter from Thailand kicked a lot harder than that then he wouldn't be average.

  • You ever trained at a Shaolin Temple? Go and train there, come back and tell me if you still believe what you believe. They kick hard I'm not saying they don't but you're generalising and kicking hard does not win fights alone. Accuracy, speed and the ability to take hits and kicks are just as important.

  • Anybody who has been in a fight can be a fighter with experience. They can be fat, slow and stupid and still be a fighter with experience. For a 45 yr old you sure think shallow and that's assuming that the monk's training don't involve any sparring. Assuming that they don't have any combat experience. Why don't you go teach them a thing or two about fighting. Maybe you could teach them the cuntkick.

  • You're wrong there. Most shaolin monks are ex chinese military and sanshou champions. If they had no sparring then I agree with you.

  • Hahahahaha, wrong again.

    They train for show.

  • Oh really? Look it up, theres 2 types of monk -those who fight in sanshou , and those who do it for show. The guy above has a sanshou record - look it up.

Incidently, I can't be wrong again, since the last post was my first assertion!

  • I can agree with you there. The roundhouse is weaker because he's doing a flicking roundhouse as opposed to a thai one. No doubts about it, a thai one would be stronger.

  • lol Thai boxers are awesome but so are Shaolin Monks i mean ive seen Sanshou fighters beat the crap outta Thai boxers look up Lui Hailong

  • no those are wushu schools and there not even real monks they just dress like them but these guys are legit

  • then your a fool

  • lol yea you REALLY know alot about this ....the monk you see kicking is a Sanshou champ wich means he actually has alot of real combat experience Sanshou is ALOT like Muay Thai

  • I say he can kick Cung Le's butt.

  • hmmm not really

  • shaolin kick way harder than muay thai

  • individuals kick hard as they can.

shifu yanzi is a great practitioner of shaolin

  • holy shit did u see the power in those kicks!!!

  • Yeah man the shaolin monks are no joke

  • dats ma teacher right there

  • A very real and loving practice.. from a real and loving group of people i trained at Tufnell park with with yanzi and yanli.. despite all the fighting and the sweating these boys are comic genius....

  • Very strong kick.

  • originally there is nothing, start reading the platform sutra by hui neng

  • you're right, when he needs to be kind he will, but generally he's very straight talking and strict

  • i met this man...i asked how to mend a broken spirit.....he said first start with meditation.....his spirit is both kind and understanding....he inspired me to be a better person...to be pure...'broken spirit'
