@96horseluvr Agree. Just like Ali Raisman, at the last worlds had the hardest tumbling but some of the worst dance, and she nailed her routine and didnt get the gold. I think bronze. Or silver.
she was warming up her last tumbling pass for floor. She had a bad ankle sprain and tore a few ligaments. She performed on bars only. It really was a shame because vault and floor were her best events. She was pretty great on beam too. If anyone deserved an Olympic "do-over", it would definitely be Sam!
@cheerleader4life121 Yes, but she didn't compete in the team final due to an injury. She still received the medal despite not competing (like Courtney McCool in '04).
I loveeeeee her style! Her gymnastics is unique and it's so easy to watch her. I just love watching her perform. She isn't boring to watch, very interesting and I never get bored with her!
I don't see how Sacramone gets a 15.400 when she does only a half-in-half-out (to Peszek's double-double), a double arabian nearly underotated to the fall (to Samantha Peszek's overotated one), a front double twist to (can't remember the name push-up position that's what I'll call it!) (fine she beats Peszek's 1.5 twist), then 2.5 to front layout (to Peszek's 2.5 to FULL TWISTING LAYOUT), then a double pike. Peszek I'm pretty sure has the difficulty, even with the dance elements. Underscored.
Because Sam's double double has a low landing. Same with her double pike. Her legs are badly cowboyed on the arabian double. Leg separations on the 5/2 to 1/1.
Alicia Sacramone has higher tumbling, landings in a straight up position, has much cleaner form in the air, and SELLS the routine much better the Peszek.
@Gr33nkiwi Who's lands double double's with their chest up...that's practically the only way to land those and the US judges certaintly don't deduct for low landings unless it's obvious...Alicia SELLS the routine much better then Peszek...that's hilarious her choreography is almost laughable, and the US never really deducts the cowboying because Nastia never fixed it for the Olympics and had no intention too. Let's face it since Alicia was in the 2007 WC floor final she gets a higher score...
@KVHolland3 Shawn Johnson landed hers with her chest above the 90 degree angle in these olympic trials. Though, it still must be very hard to get that kind of height.
@KVHolland3 During podium training at the Olympics, she wasn't tumbling the double double. She was doing a full in pike as her first pass. Marta probably would have made her the lead-off girl, and she wouldn't have received the same execution scores as Nastia or Shawn.
i really love Shawn Johnsons gymnastics, dont get me wroong.. but i think its a shame, that everybodys talking about how great Shawn Johnson is and how hard her skills are, but no one is talking about how great Sam is..
@KVHolland3 well since u can only have 3 per country it wouldve come down to if the international judges liked Nastia or Samantha's style better and I think they wouldnt have scored Samantha over Nastia, but i do love Samanthas routine and style :)
No, she really wouldn't have. Her tumbling is messy and heavy and her dance elements are just ugh. Like, I love Sam, but I doubt she'd even make floor finals
@KVHolland3 - Samantha epitomises 99% of American female gymnasts.......she's about as stylish and gracefull as a fish out of water ! she belongs in power tumbling like a lot of the girls NOT artistic gymnastics.
She just needs to work on those landings.

yes, sam is great in terms of tumbling, but she just doesn't have the class or artistry that the other countries have, that you need to win a medal

@AshaMcGuiness wrist gaurds. They make it so your wrists don't hyper flex, and prevent wrist injuries.

Even though her choreography is sort of... wildish.... I still like it a lot. Better than most Americans and she can do 5 tumbles as well.
