12 hours for me, in dry season. Yes, the plastic stools for the aisle did come out, we made hundreds of stops, and the bus stinked of vomit. Don't try and be tough - Take a minibus and get there comfortably and fast!

the roads sure have improved since i was there in the mid 1960s when i taught english in vang vieng for international voluntary services. i didn't realize it once again safe to travel from vang vieng to luang prabang. charles brewster weslaco texas
