  • no beds!

  • MY FAVORITE SCENE IN THIS MOVIE IS THIS ONE, SUPERB ACTING! I have to get this movie on DVD, i taped this (VHS) from Turner movie classics on cable long ago (commercial free, unlike AMC).

  • Horror novel see video book trailer

  • 'No beds......'

  • I've been wanting to see this movie for a while now. It looks so good! what superb b&w cinematography and editing, good acting and nice special effects. gotta find this...

  • She was really hot back in the day! Wow!

I love the line "You think of nothing but your long straight legs and your white body and how to please your man. You revel in the joys of fleshly love, don't you?!" Religious fruitloop!

  • Is it really weird that I'm really sad about her passing? She just seemed like one of those people anyone could love...like a loving grandmother. And she really was breathtakingly beautiful in her younger years. Goodbye, Gloria.

  • wow ... she was actually pretty cute ... R.I.P.

  • Wow she was CUTE!!! Just heard she is R.I.P. Very sad. Still think her finest role is Titanic, even though she stopped many men in their tracks with that lingerie in this scene! :) Was this Pre-Hays Code?

  • she was hot!

  • "That's finer stuff still and it will rot." But not for another 78 years lol R.I.P. Gloria Stewart

  • Who woulda thought the little ol lady from Titanic was so hot as a young girl haha.

  • RIP

  • We miss you Gloria.

  • Yes I heard. Sad.

  • I knew she was beautiful when young. RIP in heaven

  • Such a beautiful Woman. RIP

  • That lovely young woman is now 100 years old and still with us.

  • @Tertullian1971 well actually she just died

  • Jesus Christ what a scene. This was my favorite scene in the whole movie, and boy, when Gloria Stuart changed her clothing, you could hear a pin drop. What a grogeous woman she was.

  • This is a great movie - it has some truly creepy moments, while being fairly big hearted - and fun. Definitely worth the watch.

  • I love this film. One of the best creepy-old-house movies ever made, with a dark sense of humor.

  • Laughter and sin, laughter and sin! What memories! Lol

  • On Independence Day 2009,

    Gloria Stuart turned 99!

    Happy Birthday, Gloria!

  • Classic qoutes: 'No Beds !' 'Laughter and Sin..Laughter and Sin !'

  • dude I randomly saw this movie high just the other day on tv. this part had me in stitches!! This movie was hilariously awesome.

  • Just finished seeing this movie for the umpteenth time--it always gets better somehow! I love this scene, in my opinion the best part of the movie. And I absolutely LOVE Gloria Stuart (the hot young lady in this clip). She's still alive--98 yrs old. They don't make them like her anymore! Peace.

  • His name is Charles Laughton!

  • No its not lol. Her name is Gloria Stewart. She was in the movie 'Poor Little Rich Girl'.

  • Claude Rains was in the Invisible Man not this movie. The Hunchback is in this one..forgot his name.

  • He is not in this clip, but Boris Karloff plays Morgan, the crazy dude of the family. Great movie and highly suggest y'all find a whole version of this movie. Its actually worth watching.

  • Ein Klassiker!

    Passt so gut zu Wales.

  • this was a hoot! love ole claude rains..or who was it...the hunchback of notre dame fame?

  • I love movies from this era. I think it's the fact that 'the spooky old house with weird people living there' hadn't yet been played out so it's still really good, plus the acting is just...amazing.

  • I love the films of the 30s as well. The film makers used light and shadow with such artistic brilliance and imagination.

  • Its funny to hear Gloria Stewart to call someone 'very old'... hah

  • gloria stuart was a beautiful young lady.

  • Amazing scene. Really funny but eerie. Very sexy and really creepy at the same time. The whole movie is that way.

  • that's how they portrayed women & sex back then creapy huh!?

  • Creapy?

  • yeah I used the word 'Creapy' think it was the 1930's getting to me

  • as that is how it was spelt back then.......

  • Wonderful. Does I've been trying to find this film on video or DVD. Does anyone know if it is still obtainable over the internet?

  • I really want to get that DVD release of it myself, Maybe it's on Amazon or e-bay

    if it's out of circulation.

  • an enduring favorite !

watched it again just last night,

whilst it was cold and dark and raining outside.

    "have a potato.."

  • This is an exceptional film. I was transfixed by it as a teenager.

  • A great film. It has an amazing atmosphere. Charles Laughton is terrific in it. Love to see it again.

  • As Gloria Stuart says in "Titanic" - "Wasn't I a dish?" She certainly was. 'Laughter and sin' - yes, please!

  • This movie takes me back to another time like no other movie. It looks so, so old. I love Porterhouse.

  • This is one of my all time favourite films. brilliant acting and I love the dialogues!! I have this on video and can't remember how many times I've seen it. The blend of 'scary' and 'humorous' is very well done. Wish they made them like this today. Gloria Stuart looks so pretty too!! - but there's not one bad actor/actress in the whole film.

  • gloria is very pretty in this film and still is.i can't believe shes 97 right now.

  • The J.B. Priestley novel "Benighted," on which this film is based, is well worth searching out. Atmospheric stuff, quite fun, a good read for late autumn evenings. (It was published in the U.S. under the same title as the film.)

  • Thanks very much for posting this.

I was lucky enough to see this on the big screen last week (Stanford Theatre, Palo Alto Calif.) and it's now my new favorite film.

I know Gloria Stuart gets all the props: fair enough). But I must say that I like Eva Moore. They just don't make old crones like that any more!

    No beds!

  • What a natural beauty, and still with us at 97. Amazing.

  • Gloria Stuart is very pretty but the trophy goes to James Whale who just knocked this one out of the park.

He set the standard for all other haunted house films

    to follow.

    Good stuff!

  • A dreadful night. It plays in Mid-Wales I think. Wales is a very dark, mysterious & scary country. The scenes in the rain I love in the film & when the fine people get lost.

    Wicked people!!!!

  • One of my favorite movies of all time. Gloria Stuart is so beautiful, and I love Ernest Thesiger's character in the movie. This movie is great because it's actually got some scary moments, but it also uses humor really well. Thanks for putting this up!
